Popular Korean BBQ restaurant, Wang Dae Bak has opened a new outlet in Holland Village. Located at level 2 of Holland Piazza, Wang Dae Bak Grill is the restaurant’s first outlet out of the central business district. They have three other outlets at Amoy Street and Cross Street.

For a quick and casual lunch, Wang Dae Bak Grill offers several set lunches starting from S$15. Options include Grilled Saba Set, Spicy Pork Belly with Vegetables Set and Pork Katsu Set.

We do recommend going for a good mixture of marinated and non-marinated meats to get a taste of their best offerings. If you cannot decide on the meats to get, go for their meat sets which come with a variety of meats. The KBBQ Prime Set (S$98) consists of US Prime Ribeye, Marinated Bone-in Prime Ribs, and Pork Tomohawk.

Tanjong Pagar—also known as Korea Town in Singapore—has no lack of Korean restaurants and you may be lost on where to start.

But if you are looking at an all-you-can-eat buffet option for K-BBQ, then Sin Manbok is one to go to. At S$29++per pax, you get unlimited portions of meat, two pieces of Korean fried chicken (for each diner) in your preferred flavour, a Korean stew to share, a side of tteokbokki and ramyeon, and another side of Korean pancake. Do note that the buffet option is only available during lunch.

At just S$29++ per person for lunch, you get quite a spread and despite the portions being relatively small, we were actually very stuffed from eating a bit of everything that is included in the buffet.

For the lunch buffet, you get unlimited portions of meat, two pieces of Korean fried chicken in your preferred flavour, a stew to share, a side of tteokbokki and ramyeon, and another side of Korean pancake. What did we say about being full from eating a bit of everything?

On the unlimited meat menu, there are marinated chicken, beef brisket, sliced pork belly and marinated pork short ribs.

Out of the four meat options, our favourite was the thinly sliced 2mm Pork Belly.

Each diner gets 2 pieces of Korean fried chicken and you can choose from seasoned chicken, soy chicken, fried chicken or a mixture of seasoned and soy chicken.

The restaurant will portion the stew according to the number of diners. We had the Kimchi Jjigae and it was full of flavours and very addictive.

Stir-fried tteokbokki with ramyeon.

Don Dae Bak Korean BBQ along Kreta Ayer Road offers a Korean BBQ buffet with unlimited meats, sides and steamed eggs at only S$27.90++/pax on weekdays.

What we love most about Don Dae Bak Korean BBQ is that the Korean restaurant uses charcoal grill instead of the usual gasoline grill. That sure makes a lot of difference to our meats!

This small outlet is just like any usual Korean BBQ place—round communal tables that are surrounded by kimchi and side dishes (free flow), all your sauces and chilli, and loud Korean pop songs on repeat mode. They use beef and pork belly from USA and Australia, as well as chicken that is sourced locally.

Don Dae Bak’s Korean BBQ Buffet includes:

Beef Bulogi

Beef Brisket

Pork Belly

Spicy Pork Belly

Shoulder Loin

Marinated Shoulder Loin

Marinated Chicken

Spicy Marinated Chicken

Korean sides

Steamed eggs

Other than the meats, the Korean BBQ buffet also comes with six free-flow Korean sides and unlimited steamed eggs.

The cherry on top is the pocket around the grill, where egg custard is poured and steamed egg is made. It is so simple, yet nothing short of comforting; just like the great Korean BBQ meals we’ve had in Seoul, though more often than not, steamed egg is a free dish they offer to diners.

Located at the fourth level of Shaw Centre, 8 Korean BBQ—known for its signature Mangalitza pork—is a full-service restaurant with sleek industrial decor serves which serves as a great intimate setting for a meal with friends or family.

On our visit, we had the 8 Colours Set (S$98), the Yucha Makgeolli (S$35), and the Bibimbap Bingsu (S$28).

As their signature dish (which also inspired their restaurant name), the eponymous 8 Colours Set features eight thick slices of Hungarian Mangalitza pork which has been marinated with eight flavours that range from Wine—the lightest in taste, to Red Pepper Paste; the most flavourful of the lot.

We left the grilling in the good hands of our server while we relaxed and enjoyed the K-pop videos that graced the screens. Once the cooking completed, we were advised to start with the lightest in taste so as to ensure we truly enjoy the differences in taste.

The first thing that surprised us was the entire tenderness of the pork belly; including the pork fat. We were able to easily chew and taste the cut pieces without worry. It also helped that the meat maintained its juiciness, making it equally flavourful with or without the accompanying sauce.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>//

Aside from Korean barbecued meats, they also serve up an array of delectable Korean favourites such as Budae Jjigae (Korean Army Stew), Kimchi Fried Rice and Bingsu!

To accompany our meats, we got the Yucha Makgeolli which had a tinge of fruitiness that offered a more refreshing taste than the traditional sparkling rice wine. As the drink comes as a slush, it would be good to order this when your meat is about done grilling!

For dessert, we had the Bibimbap Bingsu, which came with eight different ingredients to mix in with the ice. The only missing piece was the accompanying milk which was not needed as the finely shaved ice is produced together with the milk.

Jangsu Korean BBQ is a humble Korean restaurant located in Serangoon and it is run by a Korean couple. The restaurant serves affordable and super yummy food and pride themselves in using 100% aged meats that are juicy, tender and fresh. You can also expect flavourful seasoned meats that have been marinated with their secret recipe there.

Serangoon is filled with a myriad of good food and this Korean restaurant adds to the list. Here’s why you have to be sure to visit this restaurant for an authentic Korean BBQ experience!

They offer 3 different type of BBQ sets that differ in the types of meat and marinade. We had Set C (S$54) that comes with Beef Sirloin, Soy Sauce Pork Shoulder, Pork Belly and Spicy Chicken, and it also includes complimentary Steamed Eggs and choice of soup (Kimchi Soup, Soybean Soup or Tofu Soup).

The Kimchi Soup was one of the better ones we’ve had in recent times as many places tend to water down their soup too much. It was so rich in flavour, not too sour, slightly spicy, and had chunks of tofu and pork belly.

The meat were all so tender. Even when the beef was left on the grill for a longer period of time, it did not get tough nor become a jaw-breaker.

The samgyeopsal (pork belly) was just cut to the right thickness and had a good ratio of meat to fat. The pork juices were well-retained which brought out the fragrance of the meat immensely. The burst of flavours made every bite so pleasant.

Some oyster mushrooms and onions were served alongside the meat, wrap them up in a lettuce wrap to add textures for a satisfying mouthful.

We have not tasted pork shoulder so tender that it was almost soft before. However, still with a good bite to it. It had a sweet taste that lingers on your tongue but nothing too overbearing! The lady boss told us that no sugar was added in this marinade, however we think it might have been honey that was used to bring out the sweet flavours.

The Spicy Chicken had just a teeny-weeny kick of spice, suitable even for those who cannot take spice.

A special mention for their amazing banchan (side dishes) – there were braised potatoes, oyster mushrooms, kimchi, beansprouts, tofu in soy sauce, oden and a salad. We always appreciate a Korean restaurant that’s generous with their banchan.
