Gram—famous souffle pancakes from Japan—is coming to Singapore.

You’d probably have seen photos and boomerang videos of these fluffy pancakes on Instagram. They jiggle when you shake the plate, they really do. Gram Cafe & Pancakes will be opening in Singapore at VivoCity level 2 in June 2019.

The soufflé pancakes come in a stack of three thick pieces. The cream-coloured goodie is cooked to order and served warm, and freshness is guaranteed. This means you should tuck into it right after taking your photos and boomerang videos.

And yes, they do live up to the hype. It is not just a marketing gimmick as you might see it as. Well, we admit we were sceptical too but hell, were we proven wrong!

Located in the mountains near Shiroishi, the Miyagi Zao Fox Village might be a little out of the way, but it is totally worth the commute. Just as its name suggests, this is where you can feed and even cuddle tame foxes that roam around freely.

#10 GO FOR AN ONSEN EXPERIENCE

Gone are the days when onsens are traditional stone baths located far up a mountain. Present-day onsens are much more convenient since they are usually housed in mini resort facilities and come with additional services.

Think massages, aromatherapy, and even restaurants within the onsen’s grounds for a quick meal. Check out our post on some of the best onsens in Tokyo.

#11 TAKE A PEACEFUL, QUIET TRAIN RIDE

The Japanese are really considerate people and this is something that is often reflected in their public transports. It does not matter whether you board a relatively empty train or one that is packed full during peak hours—everybody onboard is usually very quiet.

Take a peaceful train ride while reading that book you have been wanting to start on, or listen to your favourite music playlist during the journey; you will be surprised at how enjoyable a train ride can be.

Don’t freak out when you see the word ‘hike’. The trek up Mount Takao is relatively manageable, and even if you prefer not to, there are cable car services to take you up the mountain.

The mountain welcomes more visitors during the Autumn season when the leaves turn into beautiful shades of red, yellow and orange.

#13 THE CONVENIENCE STORES BOAST A DELECTABLE RANGE OF MICROWAVEABLE FOOD

No other country does it like Japan when it comes to their impressive array of instant food options. Their convenience stores carry everything from cream pasta, to bento meals, soupy noodles and even omurice. The options are endless and we certainly aren’t complaining!

#14 BITE INTO THE FLUFFIEST PANCAKES EVER

The Japanese are known for their delicious desserts, and they somehow never fail to make anything look visually appealing. If you are a fan of pancakes, the ones at Gram Pancakes are so fluffy and soft that they jiggle when you shake the plate. Totally perfect for an Instagram boomerang!

A true wonder of nature created from the clash of tides from the Seto Inland Sea and the Pacific Ocean, the views Naruto Whirlpools offer are so magnificent that they alone would justify a trip to Tokushima.

Noh is a classic stage art and one of Japan’s oldest and proudest art forms where performers don a variety of masks and traditional costumes depicting different characters. The stories are told through not just dialogue, but also via singing and musical accompaniments.

Today, Noh theatre performances only happen 10 times a year but if you get the chance to see one in Japan, we highly recommend it. Where else would you get such an authentic experience?

Harajuku has always been known as the hub of Japan’s pop culture, what with it being the birthplace of Lolita dressing, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, and more.

Harajuku’s Takeshita Street, however, is the most populated street and is home to a number of independent boutiques, sweets and crepes stores. The shopping street gets extremely packed with teens, students, tourists and more—especially when the sun sets.

It is bustling and full of life and is definitely a shopping experience in Tokyo you cannot miss. If you do not know where to start, here are the 9 Things You Need To Eat & Do When In Takeshita Dori, Harajuku.

#1 TAKE TONS OF PURIKURA

The 90’s girls would probably remember squeezing into what was known as a Neoprint Booth in your neighbourhood Timezone Arcade during schooling days. But getting one done right in the heart of Harajuku is a different experience all on its own.

Purikura is essentially a photo booth that allows you to customise and decorate your pictures together with friends before getting it printed on the spot. There are even entire stores dedicated to housing an astounding number of these purikura machines.

Each machine also carries its own theme, so you can get your pictures taken in a more “lolita-style” booth, a Korean beauty-style booth, or even a Barbie Design booth.

#2 TUCK INTO A CUSTARD CREAM CHOU

There are many popular sweet stalls all around Takeshita Street, but Croquant Chou Zakuzaku definitely stands out for its amazing range of snacks. You can see snaking lines and customers gathering outside the stall, biting into their cream-filled chous.

Croquant Chou Zakuzaku is known for their churro-shaped cream chous, which oozes decadent custard cream. They also sell milky soft serves in cups and cones.

When you do a simple image search of Harajuku, you will come face to face with an onslaught of pretty crepe snapshots. Takeshita Dori is where a number of Japanese-style crepe stores call home, each offering their own array of sweet cream-filled crepes topped with bananas, strawberries, wafers, and so much more.

Just take a walk down Takeshita Street and pick the crepe store that appeals to you the most.

You’d probably have seen photos and boomerang videos of these fluffy pancakes on Instagram. They jiggle when you shake the plate, they really do.

All hail Cafe Gram’s Japanese-style Soufflé Pancakes, the one thing you must eat when in Japan!

Cafe Gram became famous for these and we have every reason for you to add this to your must-eat list. Heck, you should even fly to Japan for it!

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

The soufflé pancakes come in a stack of three thick pieces. The cream-coloured goodie is cooked to order and served warm, and freshness is guaranteed. This means you should tuck into it right after taking your photos and boomerang videos.

Looking all cloud-like, they sure entice both young and old. Just look around you; every table in the cafe would have a portion of these pancakes.

And yes, they do live up to the hype. It is not just a marketing gimmick as you might see it as. Well, we admit we were sceptical too but hell, were we proven wrong!

Despite looking like a mountain of sugar, Cafe Gram’s soufflé pancakes are actually pretty light in taste. Bite into it and you would be rewarded with an airy texture with a slight crisp, something like meringue, but less sweet. It also boasts a subtle eggy and creamy taste, but nothing too cloyingly sweet.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>//

Be warned that the queues will be long and the pancakes are only available during specific hours of the day. The three timings for the pancakes are 11am, 3pm & 6pm.

And do you know why queues are formed despite the specific timings? Becuase there are only 20 portions per timing. Our suggestion is to go 15 minutes before the “golden hours” for a better chance to secure a slot.
