Lorong Kilat is a cosy little street near Beauty World MRT Station on the new Downtown Line in Singapore. The new Downtown Line has made the whole Bukit Timah area very accessible so there is no excuse to not travel to the West for food now!

To many fans’ dismay, Bing Qi Lin in Seletar Hills has closed its doors in mid-August. But little did they know – that was not the end of the ice cream brand.
Bing Qi Lin has undergone a major brand revamp and renamed itself as Sugarhaus Singapore. The owners have worked doubly hard to expand the business and now offer its patrons a comfortable dine-in concept. It is situated within Serene Centre, just right beside Island Creamery—a pioneer in making freshly made ice cream featuring local flavours.
Located in the vicinity of horse stables at Turf Club Road, Tin Hill Social serves as a great hang-out spot to kick back with good food and drinks. The food, in general, is pretty hearty with meats and heavier sharing items, and a selection of alcoholic beverages from wines to cocktails.
Located just at the first floor of Bukit Timah Plaza, Rise & Grind Coffee Co. occupies a cosy space with a partial alfresco dining area. Opened about three months ago, Rise & Grind Coffee Co. offers a nice and comfortable dining environment together with delicious food and different blends of coffee to choose from.
All mains at Rise & Grind Coffee Co. are well priced under S$20, and they occasional offer lunch deals at a steal. Expect Asian fusion food here, together with a good range of beverage and dessert options.

The humble eatery that sits amidst the lush greenery of Bukit Timah, away from the humdrum of city life and stress – cosy and unpretentious. It is a no-frills place; just earnest comfort food in generous portions. Lunch, dinner, weekend brunch… whenever you need to please that tummy of yours, Little Diner will take care of that.
Nothing here costs an arm and a leg – most of the dishes on the menu are reasonably priced below S$20 – and all that we’ve sampled and had were delightfully yummy to say the least. Some classics are as good as gold, some creations took us by surprise and left us lingering for more. Little Diner has also just launched its new 2-course weekday set lunch at S$22.50++.

These days, we don’t need to travel out of our neighbourhood to get good food and desserts. Cafes are spouting out everywhere, and we are definitely not complaining. We have cafes at every district in Singapore, and no one gets left out.
The West of Singapore may not be a favourite part if you do not reside there, for it is pretty far out from the main areas and can indeed get a little out of the way. But because we are such fans of artisan places and cosy spaces, we would travel just for a slice of rainbow cake or a good cuppa, yes?
