EXCLUSIVE: Machi Machi Singapore will be opening on 18 Jan 2020 11am at Arab Street and here’s an exclusive first look at Jay Chou’s bubble tea brand.

Machi Machi, a Taiwanese bubble tea speciality brand, has set up its first Singapore outlet. And trust us, it is worth a visit.

Machi Machi offers diverse flavours of bubble teas such as fresh fruits, cream cheese and lattes. Choose from five different tea bases: Tieguanyin Oolong Tea, Sun Moon Lake Black Tea, Pekoe Jasmine Green Tea, and Ceylon Highland Black Tea.

Whether you are a fan of Jay Chou or are a dedicated milk tea lover, here’s what you can expect at Machi Machi Singapore.

Popular Singer Ang Junyang—who also owns Boat Noodle—is one of the partners behind Machi Machi Singapore.

MACHI MACHI BOTTLED TEAS

Those looking to snap photos of cute, photogenic drinks will be happy to know that four of their signature teas come packed in the iconic Machi Machi Bottles.

For the best taste experience, slurp both the jelly base and tea using the bubble tea straw.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Proudly adhering to high standards and the use of high-quality raw ingredients, HEYTEA distinguishes themselves by making sure customers can taste the freshness from the very first sip. Only the best quality tea leaves, fresh fruits, natural rock sugar and natural cheese go into the making of every cup of tea here.

And talk about dedication; HEYTEA’s tea leaves are actually solely grown for the brand, so the tea leaves and blends cannot be found anywhere else!

What’s more, HEYTEA has flown in a group of staff from China to Singapore’s outlet, just so you get the real deal and that the local staff are given proper training and to upkeep the standards from there on.

HEYTEA’S SIGNATURE CHEEZO TEA SERIES

Be sure to try out HEYTEA’s signature Cheezo Tea series, such as the classic King Fone (S$5.50), Ever Spring (S$5.50) and Aqua Green (S$4.50). Sure to impress fans of cheese tea, this series may even convert those who were sceptical about the trend.

Every sip varies in textures and flavours. The first sip (make sure the opening of the cap is kept small) will be the mildy salty cheese. Continue sipping and you’ll slowly taste the different layers of cheese and tea. Then, when you finally reach the half-cup mark, that’s when the cheese and tea will be completely blended together and you can savour the milk tea-like taste.

For first-timers trying out cheese tea for the very first time, go for the King Fone—known as the classic Jinfeng Chawang in China (in other words, like the Oolong Tea we are all familiar with), it features a thick layer of smooth, creamy cheese atop their aromatic tea.

HEYTEA’S BERRY MANGO SERIES

Besides their usual Cheezo Teas, you must also try HEYTEA’s Berry Mango range of refreshing fruit-infused teas that also come with a layer of their creamy cheese.

Made with a blend of strawberry and mango respectively, both the Very Strawberry Cheezo (S$8.30) and Mango Cheezo (S$7.90) is absolutely refreshing like a summer cocktail you’d have by the beach—except this is better because HEYTEA.

HEYTEA’S FRUITY BOOM AND PURE TEA SERIES

For those who prefer their beverages without the cheese, HEYTEA also offers a variety of brews available under the Fruity Boom and Pure Tea range.

The various options are Lemon Boom (S$5.50), Golden Pineapple Boom (S$6.80), Orange Boom (S$6.80) and not forgetting our favourite of the lot, the Grapefruit Boom (S$5.90). It is jasmine tea infused with fresh grapefruits to give you this wonderful balance of sour and sweet.

Desserts are also available here at HEYTEA’s Singapore outlet.

Made to cater to the local palates and available exclusively in Singapore’s outlet is the Durian Ice Cream (S$4.80) and Salted Egg Yolk Ice Cream (S$4.80). Other desserts you may wish to try include the Tea King Ice Cream (S$2.80) and Mango Ice Cream (S$4.80).

It is safe to say that everybody knows about the Taiwanese milk teas that have taken Singapore by storm. These Chun Cui He teas are stocked in selected 7-11 outlets around the island, and are available in extremely limited quantities.

The milk teas came to our shores recently, and they get swiped off the shelves every single time they are restocked. In fact, 7-11 has even issued notifications and announcements that customers are only allowed to purchase a maximum of 6 bottles at any one time.

But here is why we believe that the Chun Cui He Milk Teas Are Not Worth The Hype.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Buying six bottles of the same milk tea at one time might seem a little too much, but people have gotten away with buying more than these when the milk teas first landed in Singapore.

A recent viral post saw a man boasting about how he bought boxes of these milk teas. This in turn sparked an outrage among netizens who labelled him as selfish and inconsiderate.

If you thought that was all, you’d be surprised to learn that there is even a Facebook group for Chun Cui He fanatics with updates on which 7-11 outlets have restocks, and which are all sold out. They even provide tips on the hours to visit for higher chances of walking away with a bottle (or six) of the milk teas for yourself.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

In Taiwan, these Chun Cui He milk teas come in a plethora of different flavours such as Green Tea Latte, Sumiyaki, Mocha and more, but Singapore only stocks their Original Milk Tea and Latte flavours.

Well, these milk teas probably sell out faster than hotcakes here in Singapore because Singaporeans are FOMOs. Yes, the fear of missing out. Whenever we see people going crazy over something new or interesting, the fad spreads, and soon everybody is lining up to get one of their own – even if they do not truly understand what the hype is all about.

And you know what really bothers us? The milk tea actually tastes pretty much like what most bottled milk teas would taste like! Sure, there are bad bottled milk teas, but compare Chun Cui He Milk Tea to regular ones that are perpetually available on the shelves (such as Pokka Milk Tea) and you would realise they are actually pretty similar.

You know what is even better? Royal Milk Tea from Japan.

If, in the highly unlikely scenario, that you chance upon a bottle of Chun Cui He Milk Tea up on 7-11 shelves, go ahead and give it a try. If you have not had a taste of these teas for yourself, it might be a good idea to see what the hype is all about.

But we don’t think you’ll be able to find ready stocks on shelves without first doing a bit of research to see which outlets have restocked, and the milk teas are honestly not worth that kind of effort.

The trend should die down soon. Give it a few months (or maybe weeks!), and we bet you good money you can walk in to any 7-11 and pick up some for yourself easily.
