Helmed by Chef Mohamed Al-Matin who has previously worked at Noma, Restaurant Andre, Black Star Pastry, Zumbo, Le Matin Patisserie first started as an online pastry shop during Circuit Breaker last year, and it has since opened a physical shop at Raeburn Park earlier this year.

Other than the Le Matin Basics which featured 5 pastries, we also tried the Savoury Box: Assemblag that came with 4 savoury pastries including the new Lamb & Red Wine Pie and Wagyu & Bone Marrow Sausage Roll.

Each pastry box from Le Matin Patisserie comes with 4 or 6 pastries and each drop can vary in accordance to the technique and seasonal supplies.

Le Matin Basics (S$34)

Kouign Amann

Pain Au Chocolat

Lacto-fermented Plum Galette

Brioche Feuilette

Bread and Butter Pudding

Out of the five pastries from Le Matin Basics box, we loved the Kouign Amann, Pain Au Chocolat and Brioche Feuilette.

Laminated with lots of butter, the Brioche Feuilette—a croissant-brioche hybrid—was truly outstanding with an extremely buttery and crispy pastry. The signature Kouign Amann was equally buttery, flaky and had subtle hints of vanilla.

Chocolate lovers will love the Pain Au Chocolat which was stuffed with Valrhona dark chocolate and came with a molten chocolatey center.

Savoury Box: Assemblage (S$58)

Lamb & Red Wine Pie

Wagyu & Bone Marrow Sausage Roll

Escargot Escargot

Beef Tongue and Cheese Croissant Panini

The Savoury Box that comes with 4 savoury pastries including the new Lamb & Red Wine Pie and Wagyu & Bone Marrow Sausage Roll. The savoury pastry that stood out the most was the Beef Tongue and Cheese Croissant Panini. The croissant was layered with Beef Tongue and Wagyu Bresaola, a mix of 4 different cheeses, as well as pickled rose petals, butternut and horseradish.

How about escargot in a pastry? Le Matin Patisserie shaped the traditional croissant like a snail and filled it with escargots from France. This was the perfect balance of savoury and sweet.

You can also add on cold brews to your pastry boxes and they include Black Coffee (S$5), White Coffee (S$5), Oat Milk Coffee (S$7) and Chocolate (S$7).

Le Matin Patisserie offers Island-wide courier delivery at a flat-rate fee of S$10 for a single location on the same date. Enjoy free delivery with a minimun order of S$80.

The quieter sister of Keong Saik Road, Bukit Pasoh Road deserves equal credit for being a foodie’s lane. Lined with hip bars and charming cafes, this preserved street has won our hearts over with its laidback, rustic aura.

And, if you haven’t heard, this stretch has received another addition to its family of establishments.

Meet Bakery’s Bench Bakery — a new artisanal neighbourhood bakery that churns out stellar bakes and gourmet sandwiches. From cranberry scones to croque monsieur, they’ve got everything you need for a dignified brunch. Caffeine junkies, not to worry, they also have a respectable selection of coffee brews and tea beverages.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Despite it being but a plain pastry, it was packed with the taste of fresh butter. The layers fell apart upon biting into it and it was deliciously flaky and flavourful.

It was already perfect on its own, just imagine if it were paired with some cream cheese or spreads!

Other than their croissant, Crown Bakery also serves up interesting pastries like their French-Japanese fusion Seaweed Cheese Croissant (S$4), Sweet Potato Bread (S$2.93) and classic French Baguette (SS4.50).

Other than pastries, Crown Bakery & Cafe also serves several Breakfast, Brunch and Mains, along with an extensive menu of drinks.

Located just a short bus ride from Botanic Gardens MRT Station, it’s the perfect respite for weekend brunch-goers and those wanting to treat the family to some quality baked goods.

NEW FAVOURITES AT NAYUKI

Making their timely debut in July 2019, Nayuki is introducing two new products to their menu. We had the privilege to try them, and here is what to expect.

You will love the Supreme Cheese Mixed Berries.

Fresh strawberries and strawberry purée are added alongside Nayuki’s Jasmine Tippy Tea to create this delicious concoction. The mixed berries complement the Jasmine Tippy Tea well. Refreshing, fruity and mellow, we thoroughly enjoyed the drink balanced flavour profiles.

If you’re a fan of pink, strawberries and cream, pair the Supreme Cheese Mixed Berries with the Strawberry Blush Mystique bread.

Soft Euro-bake is filled with fresh cream and topped with real fresh strawberries! Bright pink strawberry-flavoured chocolate is also drizzled on top of the bread, making it look even prettier. It’s the perfect pretty-in-pink pairing!

Another one that’s joining the Mystique range of bread is the Magic Mango Mystique.

This pillowy Soft-Euro Bread is filled with light cream and cubes of fresh mango. Every bite of this wonderful baked good was an enjoyable one. Don’t we all love mangoes?

Pair this fluffy bread with Nayuki’s Supreme Cheese Mango for a dynamic combination.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Upon stepping into Keong Saik Bakery, a wave of nostalgia swept over us when we noticed that the walls of the eatery were covered with wallpaper that spoke about the heritage of the Keong Saik area.

We were also greeted by the beautiful aromas of freshly baked pastries. Thus, we could not help but order the Sor Hei (S$3.20), a black and white Danish pastry.

Did you know that the Sor Hei was named after the Cantonese ceremony for Ma Jie? This is actually part of Keong Saik Bakery’s patronage to the previous owner of the shophouse on which the eatery occupies.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>//

We went with the Sardine Cheese (S$2.50) which comprises of chilli tomato sardines, onions and mozzarella cheese in French dough. Albeit slightly underwhelming in taste, it still went well with the fragrant Kopi O.

If you intend to visit during tea time, signature cakes that you can try include the Gula Jawa Sticky Rice (S$6) and Chendol Delight (S$6.50).

Breads and pastries are staples that everyone can appreciate, and we all love eating them fresh out of the oven.

The great thing about living in Singapore is that there are so many different kinds of bakeries – from traditional to artisanal options. All the different kinds of breads and pastries are mostly baked fresh daily in-house and are oh-so-delicious!

Breads are good for any time of the day. Some of the best bakeries in Singapore go the extra mile in the baking and preparation process, some even creating wonderful unique creations that are impossible to resist.

Here are 11 Best Artisanal Bakeries in Singapore - places that we rely on when we need our fresh bakes fix.

ARTISAN BOULANGERIE CO.

Artisan Boulangerie Co. (or ABC) has various outlets island-wide in very convenient locations, and we always end up at ABC. The bakery-cum-cafe serves a great mix of French-style pastries and classic bread options.

You can even grab brunch or meal options at some of these outlets, while sipping on a fresh cup of latte. We are especially fond of the buttery croissants and eclairs here.

PAUL

PAUL is one of the biggest chains in France, and its outlets in Singapore are extremely popular too. Besides the must-try croissant which we swear by, the eclairs and palmier are to die for.

The chain also has a cafe area where you can order from a menu with a selection of plated desserts, drinks and brunch-style savoury items.

SUN MOULIN

We love Japanese breads and pastries, and Sun Moulin definitely churns out some of the best ones in Singapore. This authentic Japanese bakery is a takeaway-only bakery offering items such as matcha breads, milk breads and Japanese-style souffle cheesecakes.

Conveniently located at Vivo City, Sun Moulin is for all of you who love Japanese-anything!

TIONG BAHRU BAKERY

You should be no stranger to Tiong Bahru Bakery. This bakery had humble beginnings and started off at Tiong Bahru, but its popularity has rocketed over the years.

We always return for the classic Kouign Amann and Croissants, which have been dubbed as one of the bests in Singapore. There is also a dine-in area at TBB outlets where you can relax with a gourmet sandwich and a coffee.
