It is always lovely to dine at a familiar outlet, and even better when the chefs are always pushing their boundaries to introduce new creations to excite your palate.

With daily fresh imports of wild-caught seafood and fish from different parts of the world, Quayside Fish Bar & Bistro is our go-to place for seafood and late night nibbles. The restaurant has recently introduced Lobster Roll (S$49) on the menu. Its rendition comes with a whole live Boston lobster (600g of meat) in a buttered roll, homemade chili and kaffir lime aioli, and super addictive truffle shoestring fries.

Quayside Fish Bar & Bistro takes its seafood seriously, and boy are we glad that there is a new option when we are craving for lobster rolls in Singapore. From what we’ve heard, they are currently working on other variations like Seafood Roll and Shrimp Roll; we definitely hope to try them soon!

K. Cook Korean BBQ Buffet has just opened at Orchard Central for a few months, but it has already earned the loyalty of many customers for a simple reason. It is one of the most affordable Korean BBQ buffet restaurants in Singapore. On weekdays, the Korean BBQ buffet is S$14.90++ /pax for lunch, and S$24.90++/pax for dinner.

During dinner, you can find a selection of meats like marinated pork collar, chicken, pork belly, pork collar, marinated beef short rib, beef bulgogi, beef plate eye and marinated beef ribeye, while lunch has considerately lesser beef options. Granted, the quality and variety of meat are not the best, but given the prices, there is really nothing to complain about.

Tipping in Singapore: Would Tipping Improve Service Standards?

When we were in the US, one of the daily happenings that we noticed is the stark difference in service and professionalism displayed by most of the restaurants’ waitstaff as compared to that in Singapore. We can’t help but wonder if the poor service standards in Singapore is due to the lack of a tipping system.

Waiters, by and large, is not a respected profession like doctors and lawyers. In recent years, chefs are starting to get more recognition due to media publicity of celebrity chefs around the globe. Waiters? Not a chance. And the irony is waiters are the frontline staff in the restaurant and they have the ability to make or break your dining experience.
