With food options and retail stores galore, the new Funan mall is definitely one of Singapore’s hot topics. If you haven’t yet gone down to Funan, you might want to take this chance to drop by for some retail therapy or just a meal with your buddies – no matter what, you’ll be spoilt for choice!
One of Funan’s hidden gems would definitely be Trufflelicious, stowed away on the second floor of the mall in the shape of a food truck. They specialise in all things truffle-related yet keep their prices friendly on your wallets!
First up on the table was the Truffle Sukiyaki Beef Don (S$12). Thin slices of sweet sukiyaki beef and a wobbly onsen egg sits on a bed of rice and is topped off with freshly-grated black truffle!
The beef was super tender and flavourful, having a delicious sweet-and-savoury taste from the sukiyaki sauce. Mix it all in with the egg and truffle shavings to perfume the dish with that strong umami flavour of truffle!
Their Truffle Chicken Don (S$10) definitely did not disappoint as well. Tender chunks of chicken, coated in a savoury glaze, is also topped with an onsen egg and freshly grated truffle. We loved how succulent the chicken was and given the price point, the portions were rather generous as well!
Last but not least, we had a taste of their cold Truffle Mushroom Pasta (S$10). Cold angel hair pasta is tossed in truffle oil and a medley of mushrooms. It is then finished with a generous grating of black truffle.
A mouthful of this pasta will send you to truffle-heaven and back – it packs a strong punch of truffle, both from the truffle oil and the fresh truffle. If you’re a truffle-lover, prepare to come back often for this!
Overall, we felt that Trufflelicious was very affordable given their pretty generous servings. If you’re hungry and happen to crave some good truffle dishes, Trufflelicious just might be the best option for you!
