Everyday, with the newspaper headline screams the unspeakable “R” word, or some country’s government scrambling to put together a package to rescue their too-big-to-fall banks, times are indeed bad, and no doubt we’ll need to cut down on our spendings to prepare for the storm ahead. But that is not to say that we can’t enjoy good food without spending big money.
This was my first time baking, and i finally did it after thinking about it for so long. There was the problem of oven since i didn’t have one at home. Had been pestering information about baking from Evan, Sihan & Vicki, who are all excellent bakers and was deciding between getting Rowenta or Delonghi oven. But in the end i decided to borrow a Tefal one from my aunt first, its better to try out before splurging on an expensive oven. I was looking at Nigella Lawson cooking video, and boy she made baking seems so easy!
I just realised ladyironchef has reached a new milestone of 300th posts. While the mark may be little compared to some other bloggers, but personally i thought it was some kind of a feat, since i wasn’t even intending to do a food blog when i just started. And its never easy to maintain a food blog, besides eating all over Singapore, you need to snap photos of the shot (much to annoyance of my friends), edit them, and spend hours doing the write-up.
Cuisines like European, French, Italian food are always popular choices when we dine out. But have you heard of Aussie cuisine? And how exactly do you classified that? There’s a great influence by traditional British cooking brought to Australia by the first settlers. Consisting of pies, roasted cut of meats, grilled steaks and chops, and other form of meat generally accompanied by vegetables.
For those who missed the Obolo dessert outing, here’s another for you guys, LIC is having the next food outing event at Persimmon at Dec 6, Saturday lunch 11.30am! From the owners of Epicurious, Persimmon serves modern Singaporean cuisine, in a swanky kopitiam-style restaurant. Truly an East-meet-West inspiration. The usual 3 course set lunch menu is $28, but LIC had work out a multi course sampling size menu.
While co-owner and partner Mac excel in decorating the desserts, June enjoyed researching the use of new flavours instead. Perhaps it is the unique combination and strength in the partnership that gave Obolo Patisserie its success. ladyironchef decided to organise a dessert outing there and it went on smoothly with the support that the partners provided.
