Ladyironchef is proud to offically annouce the launch of Ladyirontravel

Ladyirontravel is a contributory website to ladyironchef. Due to space constraints ladyironchef (wordpress only provides 50MB for pictures), this site will be all about travelling, the places i been to before, the pictures and everything. During May this year, i went to China, and i just came back from Taiwan last sunday. Will be posting the pictures from China first. The posts and pictures from the Taiwan trip will be coming up shortly. Hope you enjoy the pictures and feel free to post comments on them.

Let’s discuss something on travel, ever since coming back from China, then I realise how big a world this is, and in Singapore how small a world we are in. The world is so big out there, with so many fantastic places; the wonders of the world (in letter order) Amazon Rainforest, Angkor Wat, Colosseum, Cairo Citabel, Eiffel Tower, Grand Canyon, Great Barrier Reef, Great Pyramid of Giza, Great Wall of China, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Taj Mahal (just to name a few). There are so many countries in the world that i want to go.

Top of my list:

Spain
England
Italy
France
Australia
New Zealand
South Africa
Eygpt

Just europe alone will take a very long time, there is also Australia, New Zealand, China also has many more interesting cities to visit. Then there is also the smaller and less developed yet fascinating countries like Cambodia, Philipines etc.

Therefore I have set myself this goal, to visit as many countries and places as I can in my lifetime so that i will not regret not able to go those places when i am old.

Meanwhile, to see the posts on the China tour, please click here

Claypot rice

New Lucky Claypot rice is located at Clementi, a few blocks from Botak Jones (can’t remember the block of the coffee shop). This stall always have a long Q for their claypot rice, almost all or more than half of the diners to this coffee shop is for the claypot rice. So a wait is always a must, off peak hours around 20mins, during its peak hour 45min to one hour at least.

Buffets, i hate buffets. I really do. You know all-you-can-eat buffets are those where they offer a large variety of food, and diners can take as many servings as they want, all this for paying a fixed price? You pay one price then all the food are there for your picking, being human, especially Singaporeans, naturally we are “kiasu” and will want to eat as many as much variety of food as we can. Thats the problem, if don’t eat enough then will feel wasted pay already but never eat more. But if eat too much, u gorge yourself full and at the end of it you’ll feel silly. With that contradictory in mind, sometimes you wonder should i eat more or should i eat just sufficient? O Well..

Sakae Sushi, the place most Singaporeans, if not young people associate with sushi. With 33 Outlets spreading all over the island, its green frog logo are most familar to most people. Colour plates sushi are at $1.90, while premium red plates are at $5.90. Of course, there is the all-you-can-eat lunch, high tea, dinner buffet available at different timing and prices. Besides sushi and sashimi, there are also teppanyaki, yakimono, nabemono, tempura, agemono, ramen/udon/soba and donburi dishes.

For tech-savvy people, you can have “fun” browsing through their menu and placing orders via their web-based, patented Interactive Menu. Unfortunately, during my visit there yesterday, the system was down. O well. Back to the point, went to have high tea buffet (Mon to Fri excluding Public Holidays) 3pm-6pm with my brother, adult price is $16.90++, and youth price is $13.90++.

Everyone knows that what you eat affects how long and how well you can live. Read on to discover how the question of meat factors into your longevity goals.

Vegetarian Benefits

Becoming vegetarian has more rewards in store than ethical integrity; it can also offer some wonderful health benefits. In general, vegetarians suffer from fewer degenerative diseases than their carnivore counterparts.

It has been estimated that one third of all cancer patients developed their disease because they did not include a sufficient amount of whole plant fibers in their diets. Studies have also shown that vegetarians - when following a well-balanced, low-fat, high-fiber vegetarian diet - often have lower incidence of coronary artery disease, hypertension, and obesity.

Save the Meat for the Weekend
The recent Western obsession with protein diets is turning out to have potentially fatal results, namely osteoporosis and kidney failure. During protein metabolism, your kidneys must excrete the excess components of protein, known as amino acids.

To complete this process, the kidneys neutralize the acids by binding them to calcium, which in turn, depletes your body’s store of this essential mineral.

The rate in the U.S. of osteoporosis is strikingly higher than China, where almost everyone eats a lower protein vegetarian diet. Evidence has also been found that excess protein weakens the kidney function. But you don’t have to give up meat entirely to attain longevity.

In studies of animals with chronic kidney failure, simply reducing their intake of protein extended their lifespan by up to 50 percent! Take this advice: limit your meat eating to only the weekends, and you will be taking a balanced and healthy approach to your diet.

Choose Fish
If you do decide to eat meat, you will want to make educated decisions about the meat you choose. Of all animal products, fish is the healthiest choice because it is high in protein and low in fat. The omega-3 fatty acids that are found in fish protect your blood vessels from plaque, prevent high blood pressure, reduce inflammation, and help you maintain good respiratory health.

Populations that eat a diet consisting of mostly fish, vegetables, and local fresh fruits experience practically no cardiovascular disease and have a high percentage of healthy seniors.
