Dubbed the ‘God of Cheese Tea’ by the Taiwanese media, Machi Machi offers diverse flavours of bubble teas such as fresh fruits, cream cheese and lattes. Choose from five different tea bases: Tieguanyin Oolong Tea, Sun Moon Lake Black Tea, Pekoe Jasmine Green Tea, and Ceylon Highland Black Tea.

What started out as a merchandise label and cafe then branched out to more successful businesses, including Machi Machi—a bubble tea speciality shop. And Machi Machi rocketed to success; it was an instant hit among Jay Chou’s fans and bubble tea lovers from all over the world.

Machi Machi is launching the new Choco panna cotta which will be exclusively available at the Serangoon Gardens outlet on 17 Jan.

The new Machi Machi outlet at Serangoon Gardens is located next to Chong Qing Grilled Fish along Maju Avenue.

MACHI MACHI BOTTLED TEAS 

Those looking to snap photos of cute, photogenic drinks will be happy to know that four of their signature teas come packed in the iconic Machi Machi Bottles.

For the best taste experience, slurp both the jelly base and tea using the bubble tea straw.

STRAWBERRY MILK WITH PANNA COTTA 

Similar to a strawberry milkshake, the Strawberry Milk Tea with Panna Cotta (S$7.80) is a great selection for those who like their drinks sweet.

First blended with fresh strawberries for a tinge of tartness, then laden with their sweet signature gelatinous cream base, the creamy drink is a well-balanced creation not to be missed.

BLACK MILK TEA WITH PANNA COTTA 

One of Jay Chou’s all-time favourite milk teas, the Black Milk Tea with Panna Cotta (S$7) is a caffeine-free drink containing two luscious layers and edible bits of vanilla seeds. 

It is first prepared with a strong black tea, then mellowed in flavour from the addition of milk and sugar.

CREAM CHEESE TEAS 

Do not miss out on their unique cream cheese teas! There are three steps to enjoying this drink: first, sip on their cream cheese to get a sweet burst of flavour, stir the drink well, then guzzle down the rest of the beverage.

BLACK MILK TEA WITH CRÈME BRÛLÉE

Machi Machi’s signature Black Milk Tea with Crème Brûlée (S$5.80) — coined the legendary “God of Cheese Tea” — skyrocketed the brand to international success. Heads up for Jay Chou fans: this drink is another one of his favourites!

Served with a frothy layer of thick, caramelised cream cheese atop a milky beverage, the cheese is torched to give the drink an aromatic, roasted flavour.

BLUEBERRY AND STRAWBERRY SMOOTHIE WITH CREAM CHEESE

We recommend the Blueberry & Strawberry Smoothie with Cream Cheese (S$7) if you want a refreshing pick-me-up. This fruity beverage is light on the palate and is well-blended with a handful of strawberries and blueberries, then topped with a layer of cream cheese.

CREAM CHEESE OOLONG TIEGUANYIN TEA 

The Cream Chinese Oolong Tieguanyin Tea (S$5.50) is a delicate, nutty tea infused with fragrant floral notes. This is a good option for those who enjoy an aromatic, light-bodied brew.

Balancing out the slight bitter aftertaste from the oolong tea is the rich flavour of cream cheese, making it the perfect savoury beverage.

We’ve never felt like we needed another bubble tea brand in Singapore, until after seeing how Jay Chou excessively professes his love for Machi Machi’s pearl milk tea and how he even springs surprise visits at the shops whenever he is in a city with a Machi Machi outlet.

So what’s in for Machi Machi Singapore? Here, we share everything we know. Remember: you saw it here at Ladyironchef first.

For the uninitiated, Machi is Hannah Quinlivan’s Pomeranian. If you are going to ask us who she is (have you been living under a rock?!), she is Mandopop Jay Chou’s wife. And that was how the brand was coined.

What started out as a merchandise label and cafe then branched out to more successful businesses, including Machi Machi—a bubble tea speciality shop. And Machi Machi rocketed to success; it was an instant hit among Jay Chou’s fans and bubble tea lovers from all over the world.

Since then, Machi Machi has been a pitstop for Jay Chou’s fans whenever they travel to cities with a Machi Machi outlet, and queues can often be seen at its London, Shanghai and Tokyo outlets. Celebrities such as JJ Lin have also been spotted hanging out with Jay Chou at the Tokyo outlet.

So what can we expect from Machi Machi Singapore? Well, there is no Singapore-exclusive menu, yet. And it ain’t gonna be too different from all the other Machi Machi shops around the world. But one thing is for sure: there will definitely be Jay Chou’s favourite drink on the menu.

There are a total of 20 drinks on the menu that have been developed from several varieties of Taiwanese teas as base flavours. The tea bases are Tieguanyin Oolong Tea, Sun Moon Lake Black Tea, Pekoe Jasmine Green tea, and Ceylon Highland Black Tea.

Prices will start from S$3.50 for the Sun Moon Lake Black Tea, to S$7 for the Fresh Mixed Berry Slush with cream foam. There will be different drink options including Machi freshly pressed tea, Machi cheese foam, Machi milk tea, and Machi fresh fruit.

The location is a secret, for now, so all we can share is that it is going to be somewhere unexpected yet centralised enough. It will be a 800 sq ft space with no seating area.

And… a little blue bird told us Jay Chou may just bless the shop with a special appearance a few days prior to his Singapore concert in January 2020. We will be sharing more news, so watch this space!
