To celebrate 2019 drawing to a close, the chain draws its latest inspiration from the communal energy of sharing party snacks amidst the holiday cheer. By basing their latest release on a much-loved combination of flavours, this juicy new chicken main is sure to captivate all merrymakers as their newest go-to party snack.

KFC SOUR CREAM & ONION CHICKEN

For fans of KFC’s signature finger-lickin’ good fried chicken, you will love this new multi-layered and flavour-dense variant. Available at S$3.60 each or S$8.95 for a two-piece meal, what makes the Sour Cream & Onion Chicken so enticing isn’t just the winning combination of flavours involved, but the intricate sensory experience from the textural variance present.

For the usual fried chicken options, we expect the contrast between the signature crunch of the chicken skin against the moist tenderness of the flesh beneath. However, by covering the chain’s Hot & Spicy Chicken in a generous layer of crushed nacho chips before frying, the irregular coat of chips enhances the texture of the dish by breaking the surface consistency. The resultant eating experience is not just more thrilling, but more playful and fun as well.

The flavours involved work off a similar principle of careful layering. The original 11 herbs and spices blend may already be fragrant enough, but with the preference for heavier flavours courtesy of our local food culture, that alone may be insufficient to produce that desired wow factor. A favourite of many, KFC’s Portuguese egg tarts are a delight to behold: the golden sheen of the thin flaky crust holds within it a smooth creamy centre of delicious custard goodness. Garlickin’ Soy is a delicious glaze of garlic and soy but for spice lovers who can take the heat, Chillickin’ Hot has a strong kick with chilli and cayenne.
