Returning for its 26th year is Singapore’s biggest culinary event, The Singapore Food Festival (SFF). From 12 to 28 July 2019, the event will feature a myriad of dining concepts and gastronomic experiences dedicated to celebrating Singapore’s multicultural heritage through local cuisine and talents.

This year’s line-up of events include exclusive private chef dinners, food tours of Singapore’s heritage districts and theatrical dining experiences. Singaporeans and tourists alike will also be able to experience the full force of Singapore’s multi-faceted cuisine.

This year’s theme reprises the last – “Savour Singapore in Every Bite” – in an effort to continuously encourage innovation in Singapore’s culinary landscape. Through this year’s Singapore Food Festival, both locals and visitors can expect to be re-introduced to Singaporean culture, heritage and history through a journey of tastes and dining experiences.

Events will take place at several locations across Singapore from 12 to 28 July 2019 so everyone can join in on the exciting line-up of activities. Let us celebrate the culinary talents and generations of heritage Singapore has to offer.

KUEH KUEH SYMPOSIUM

In Singapore’s very first Kueh Kueh Symposium, a medley of Singapore’s kueh practitioners will be gathered in hopes of creating greater awareness and appreciation for this local heritage craft.

The event features a plenary revolving around the art of kueh making as well as real-life experiences and recounts of kueh makers in Singapore. In addition to talks, a marketplace will be opened featuring the many kueh kueh from all over Singapore.

The first topic for discussion is “Mamas in Kueh Kueh” (10am to 11am) where the matriarchs of Singapore’s favourite kueh kueh brands answering questions about their journey and craft.

Next, kueh lovers will be able to understand the works of kueh families and how new generations keep the dream alive in “Inheriting a Heritage” (12pm to 1pm).

In the next discussion, writer and cookbook author Christopher Tan delves into the world of kueh and discusses their history and cultural significance in “A Brief History of Kueh” (2pm to 3pm).

Lastly, modern kueh makers debate whether there is room for innovation while still maintaining authenticity and tradition in the panel for “Innovation in Heritage” (4pm to 5pm).

February may be the shortest month of the year, but that doesn’t mean that there is any lack of activities out there to keep you entertained. With some pretty major holidays such as Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day creeping up on us, get ready for a never-ending list of events that will keep you on your toes.

Prepare your calendars and mark down these special dates, because while you may be busy with all the New Year festivities, gambling and feasting, you should take some time off to have a go at some of the other exciting things that February has in store for you.

From the annual Chingay Parade to seeing popular Kpop girl-group BLACKPINK perform live, buckle up because February is going to be one roller coaster of a good time!

ANTI-VALENTINE’S VALENTINE’S DAY @ HUSTLE CO

Valentine’s day is always so overly-hyped up every year — all the flowers, mushy photos of couples making out, overpriced dinners and expensive gifts. It can quite sickening, especially for singles.

If all you single ladies (and men) feel a little forgotten, fret not, as Hustle Co, a bar tucked away at Tanjong Pagar, will be having an event called Anti-Valentine’s Valentine’s Day where there will be cheap S$6.90 craft beers and affordable dinner items. Definitely sounds like our kind of Valentine’s Day!

BLACKPINK is no doubt one of the hottest k-pop groups in the world right now and it is no surprise; it is pretty hard to resist these pretty yet sexy girls with their angelic voices and mesmerising dance moves.

If you’re a BLACKPINK fan, good news for you is that you get to catch them performing live this February at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. For all you fanboys out there, treat this as a little Valentine’s Day gift to yourself!

CHINGAY PARADE 2019

This year’s theme, Dreams Funtasia, features an impressive 270m-long painting depicting the past, present and future of Singapore as well as dancing dragons, stilt walkers, wushu masters and so much more. No wonder is one of the biggest events of the year!
