We have Bob The Builder, and we have Bob The Baker Boy who is fond of cakes, especially moist and cottony-soft cakes, which are exactly what you can look forward to when placing an order with Bob The Baker Boy.

You have probably seen Bob The Baker Boy’s customised cakes and dessert tables making their rounds on Instagram and Facebook. There are over 400 designs to choose from. And if you have any particular design in mind for your cake, you can always let the creative team know and they will make your wish come true.

That’s not all. Bob The Baker Boy also has a range of awesome bakes including mini tarts, and brownies.

Bob is our new best friend and he will be yours too when you next need a customised cake. Or tarts. Or anything sweet, really.

DEFYING GRAVITY FLOATING BEER CAN CAKE

Let’s start off with their customised cakes, shall we? They are what made Bob The Baker Boy famous, and our dear Bob deserves all the recognition for the superb hand-crafted cakes that have made birthdays memorable for countless people.

For the fickle-minded ones, you are going to be in trouble because they have hundreds of designs for you to choose from. And everything looks so cute and realistic, it’s impossible to just select one. We feel you, really. Even if you are a decisive person, the range will leave you mind-boggled, even if it’s just for a while.

Being the alcoholics we are, we eventually decided on this gravity-defying beer cake. We went with a classic flavour that will please the crowd—Belgian Chocolate cake covered with pearl sprayed vanilla buttercream, and layered with zero-added sugar chocolate custard.

The layered cake was decadent and satisfying with every bite. You know how some cakes look way better than they taste? Not for this. This looked every bit photogenic and Instagram-worthy, and tasted legit. We are already dreaming of our next customised cake by them!

STRAWBERRIES & CREAM CAKE

Adapted from the ever-so-popular strawberries shortcake, expect moist and velvety vanilla layers for this cake. Slice your fork into cake that’s fluffy like the clouds, filled with freshly whipped Chantilly and farm-picked sliced strawberries.

Money may not buy us happiness, but it can buy us Bob The Baker Boy’s Strawberries & Cream Cake and it’s about the same thing. This is one classic flavour to love, great for both young and old, and definitely one we will reorder.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>
<ins class="adsbygoogle"

For starters, we attempted the Chicken Siew Mai (S$3.90/3 pcs) and Pan Fried Taro Cake (S$2.90/3pcs). The plating of the dishes was done really nicely. The Chicken Siew Mai was tasty and the sweet chilli dip that went along added a nice punch to the medley of flavours.

The Pan Fried Taro Cake arrived a tad dry but the chilli sauce made it better.

The next two dishes got us super excited—namely the Vermicelli Roll With Beef Rendang (S$8.90) and the Vermicelli Roll With Shrimp & Spring Onion (S$7.90). These essentially act as a modern representation of the typical Chee Cheong Fun.

<ins class="adsbygoogle"
style="display:block; text-align:center;"
data-ad-layout="in-article"
data-ad-format="fluid"
data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805"
data-ad-slot="3885138539"></ins>

The Beef Rendang was tender and the spices really shone through the dish. The Shrimp option was superb and the special light sauce paired well with the crystal-like skin of the rolls.

We also tried the Congee with Shredded Chicken (S$6.90). Albeit its simple presentation, the stock of the porridge was the main star. Scoop up the warm congee and top it off with the shredded chicken. You will find this dish highly comforting.

<ins class="adsbygoogle"
style="display:block; text-align:center;"
data-ad-layout="in-article"
data-ad-format="fluid"
data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805"

The Molten Salted Egg Pandan Buns (S$4.90) and TDSP Cheese Tarts (S4.90/2pcs) were just what we needed to end the meal on a sweet note. The pandan buns did not have molten salted egg oozing out like how we’d like it, though.

<ins class="adsbygoogle"
style="display:block; text-align:center;"

The delicious Cheese Tarts, on the other hand, left us really impressed and wanting more.

PABLO Cheese Tart is opening its first outlet at Wisma Atria in Singapore in early August!

Hailing all the way from Osaka, PABLO’s Baked Cheese Tarts are extremely well-known for their cheesy and crumbly baked cheese tarts. You no longer have to fly all the way to Japan to have a taste of it anymore because there is an outlet in Singapore.

Since news arrived in mid-April that the famous Baked Cheese Tart brand will be opening its first outlet in Singapore, we have been waiting for this day to come. Here’s what you can expect.

Fans of this Japanese brand would know that PABLO takes pride in producing freshly baked Cheese Tarts at their onsite kitchen daily. Flavours include the original Freshly Baked Cheese Tart, Matcha Cheese Tart with Shiratama & Azuki and Chocolate Cheese Tart which comes with rich chocolate bits.

These cheesy delights are going at S$15 each and yes, you really have to try their legendary cheese tarts for yourself. Similar to the ones in Japan, PABLO’s Baked Cheese Tarts are so soft that they jiggle when you shake them!

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

If that is not spicy enough for you (you tough nut!), then turn up the heat with the accompanying Flaming Hot Sauce that is guaranteed to make you sweat. No joke; it was so spicy that we couldn’t be more thankful for the icy cold cup of Sjora (that came with the meal).

Honestly, Christmas and KFC fried chicken are the two best things and it is the best combination!

POTATO WINDERS

To accompany the spicy Red Hot Chicken, KFC has now added the new Potato Winders to the mix—tasty potato swirls that are a creative rendition of the usual stick fries. The skin adds a textural variety, and the crunchy snack is more addictive than we thought!

You can choose to have them on its own, but we like dipping ours into the Flaming Hot sauce. Fair warning: they weren’t kidding when the named the sauce ‘flaming hot sauce’.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Originated from Kinotoya confectionery store in Hokkaido, BAKE Cheese Tart is founded by Shintaro Naganuma, the eldest son of Akio Naganuma – the president of Kinotoya confectionery store in Hokkaido.

What makes BAKE so popular is the freshly baked tarts. Batches after batches of aromatic tarts are baked on the premises, and what you would get is warm cheese tarts that are fresh out of the oven.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

The average waiting time at Ion Orchard is 45 minutes, and each person is entitled to a maximum of 12 tarts. We are certainly hoping the queue will be a lot shorter at its Westgate outlet which is located at basement two, near to Isetan Supermarket and Fragrance.

The world cannot get enough of Pablo, simply because their baked cheese tarts are too out-of-the-world good.

We are one of those loyal fans who would patiently stand in line and to wait for the batches of fresh bakes, because no trip to Japan would be complete without a baked cheese tart or two. Ok, we lied. We always have more than two.

But you see, Pablo is worth queuing up and busting our calorie count for. Pablo’s Baked Cheese Tarts is one of the best things in Japan.

For all fellow Pablo fans, this is something you MUST try when in Japan. Pablo is not famous for no reason, and its perpetual queues explain it all.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

The baked cheese tarts are in a league of its own; so wonderfully cheesy and crumbly, you’d fall in love at first bite. They are baked fresh in-house daily, and we love looking through the glass windows to catch glimpses of how the godlike tarts are prepared.

The cheesecakes first originated from Osaka but now has outlets all over Japan. The most interesting bit about Pablo is the fact that they have only been around for over two years, yet they have already gained a massive following all over Japan and even the world.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>//

You can even buy these tarts in mini bite-size pieces and they also come in other flavours. In Okinawa, because sweet potato is a local staple, you can even find sweet potato-flavoured Pablo tarts there!

The next thing you have to do after reading this post is to add Pablo to your itinerary for your next trip to Japan.

It is true – cheese tarts are the new salted egg yolk of food trends here in Singapore because it genuinely seems like everyone is working on and introducing new cheese tart dishes. Of course, the undisputed winner – BAKE Cheese Tart – still has a special place in our hearts, but we are definitely on the look-out for more.

We chanced upon Nigiro Cafe’s unique Churro Cheese Tart (S$4.80) and decided to give it a shot because it has an irresistible molten centre that just looked too good to pass up on! Nigiro Cafe is a Japanese-Italian fusion restaurant and it sits inside Eat at Seven at Suntec City.

Although the restaurant might be a little to tricky to locate, our trip was so worth it and here is why.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="width: 336px;height: 280px"></ins>//

First of all, the tart is huge. We recommend having the tart immediately after purchasing so you can savour the freshly baked warmth of it. A flat churro top sprinkled with cinnamon sits atop the tart, exuding a pleasant fragrance.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="width: 336px;height: 280px"></ins>//

The tart itself is buttery and not overly crumbly. The actual molten cheese is the perfect combination of sweet and savoury and went superbly well with the rest of the elements.

When eaten together in one bite, it was pretty much heavenly. If it was up to us however, we would have just skipped the churro top and devoured the cheese tart whole! For such a reasonable price tag, there is no reason not to head down for a bite!

Cheese tarts are all the rage now and suddenly, everyone in Asia is scrambling for one. In Japan, we’ve got seasoned players like Pablo and BAKE who have been in the field for a while now.

And with the trend passing on to the neighbouring Asian countries, we now have various versions of iced and baked cheese tarts in Hong Kong, Bangkok, and of course, Singapore.

Riding on the arrival of the famous Hokkaido BAKE Cheese Tart in Singapore, several local players have also launched their own renditions – including salted egg yolk cheese tarts – this week. We are all in for a treat. Or two. Or many.

Move aside, Salted Egg Yolk Croissant. Cheese Tarts are the next big trend in Singapore. Here’s a guide on where to get the best cheese tarts in Singapore.

THE ICING ROOM

The Icing Room is a pretty white-and-pink bakery that can be found in heartland malls and they too have just launched their baked cheese tart at its nex outlet.

They come in Original and Gold Lava, and are priced at S$2 each. There is a current buy-3-get-1-free promotion, and we heard that the tarts were sold out within two hours on its first day of launch! The early bird catches the worm, indeed.

Oh, and a Tiramisu cheese tart will be introduced soon.
