Fancy slurping down cold, freshly shucked oysters for only S$1.99 at any time of the day? Yes, you can actually get a plate full of Canadian oysters without burning a hole in your pocket at this American bar in Clarke Quay—Oyster Co.

Situated opposite popular Central Perk Cafe (and managed by the same team), Oyster Co is the first bar in Asia to serve Budweiser on tap. Drink to your heart’s content while you indulge in affordable S$10 Western set lunches and light bites.

Being oyster lovers, we could hardly contain our excitement when the grade 3 Canadian oysters (S$1.99/piece) were served to us. Freshly shucked upon order, the moderately salty and robust flavours won our hearts.

While we were given Canadian oysters, the owner also sources oysters from other regions such as Ireland and France as well.

We recommend heading over during lunch time as Oyster Co has a decent menu featuring S$10 set lunches. The Fish & Chips (S$10++) came with batter-fried mackerel fish, Belgium straight cut fries and Hainanese Chilli.

Deep-fried till golden brown, the crispy skin encased tender and moist fish meat which we enjoyed with the spicy chilli. We particularly liked how they chose to pair the dish with Asian chilli instead.

Those who are health conscious may want to consider the Beef Bowl instead (S$10++). The moist brown rice was paired with runny sous vide egg, sauteed spinach and savoury mushrooms.

This is a great dish for those who want to opt for something healthy that does not compromise on taste.

Do not miss out on their tapas if you are there for a drink with your colleagues or friends. Prices range from S$8 to S$12.

Some noteworthy finger food that we tried include the Cauliflower 3 Ways (S$10++) which allows you to enjoy roast, puree and tempura cauliflower with burnt butter quinoa and Squid Ink Paella (S$10++).

10 at Claymore at Pan Pacific Orchard, Singapore has successfully established itself as the go-to place for a value-for-money buffet. It is especially well-known for their freshly shucked oysters and Penang local delights. Dishes are on a rotational basis, whereby the gourmet highlights would largely depend on the period’s festivity.

We hope you guys thoroughly enjoyed last year’s yuletide feast at 10 at Claymore! This year, the award-winning hotel establishment is launching a curated Spring Time Oyster Rhapsody Buffet, where you can sink your teeth into unlimited Lunar New Year delicacies such as Eight Treasure Lotus Leaf Rice, Superior Fish Maw Soup and Yu Sheng at very affordable prices.

Apart from that, the buffet lineup also features many of its popular Penang classics such as Char Koay Teow and Bak Kut Teh, as well as free-flow oysters from five different countries.

Quote ‘ladyironchef’ to enjoy an all-you-can-eat indulgent feast at S$58++* for two during lunch (U.P. S$42++/pax) and S$98++ for two during dinner (U.P. S$68++/pax). This exclusive promotion** is valid from 10 Jan 2017 to 28 Feb 2017 (blackout dates apply).

While most places are closed during Lunar New Year, locals and holidaymakers would be pleased to hear that 10 at Claymore will be operating as per normal—and with a bigger and better menu. This Chinese New Year, be pampered with a Chinese New Year buffet which includes fresh seafood, a divine dessert spread and an array of international dishes.

A traditional lion dance performance will be held at Pan Pacific Orchard, Singapore’s hotel lobby on 03 Feb 2017 at 9am. Tourists and locals on a staycation should definitely wake up early to check out this auspicious dance performance.

Now, let’s get back to the main topic: Food.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

No Chinese New Year is complete without Yu Sheng. We understand that the preparation for a family meal could be arduous, so why not take a backseat this year and allow the restaurant’s A team to handle this stressful responsibility?

All you have do is to pick up the gigantic chopsticks and toss to prosperity!

Penang native Executive Chef Andy Oh and his talented crew have gone through the lengths to ensure you feel at home!

Lo Hei aside, you can too anticipate other signature symbolic dishes such as Fatt Choy with Sea Cucumber and Eight Treasure Lotus Leaf Rice that your in-laws will approve.

For those unfamiliar with Chinese delicacies, this is the perfect opportunity to sample a variety of oriental classics. The Fatt Choy—which by the way, sounds like ‘getting rich’ in Cantonese—is a dish which symbolises wealth.

The pen cai is basically a casserole filled with this Fatt Choy we were talking about, braised dried oysters, leafy greens, sea cucumber and prawns. When you talk about luxurious lunar dish, people would think of pen cai, and this will be part of the buffet line-up where you can help yourselves to unlimited portions!

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

The Sticky Rice Cake—otherwise known as Nian Gao in Mandarin—is an oriental sweet treat that the Chinese would eat every Chinese New Year.

The glutinous rice-based cake is deep-fried with an egg wash and the end result is an incredibly chewy cake encased in a golden brown crisp. The consumption of the Nian Gao is associated with achieving greater heights.

By now, you would have noticed that each Chinese New Year dish has a meaning behind it. Fish is an important ingredient in every Lunar New Year meal as it indicates abundance. From Norwegian fresh salmon sashimi, Hong Kong-style Steamed Grouper to Superior Fish Maw Soup, you will have your fair share of fish dishes here at the buffet. The more, the merrier!

To get the most bang for your buck, head to the Seafood Harvest and Japanese Display Counter and pile your plates with endless Indonesian Mud Crab, Pacific Short Neck Clam, Vietnamese Tiger Prawn, New Zealand Green Lip Mussel, Salmon Sashimi, Maguro, Oysters and more!

Besides Chinese New Year dishes, there is also a mouthwatering selection of Asian and Western delights.

We are talking about authentic Penang hawker fare, Chinese roast meats and Western roasts. The items are on rotation and are subjected to the change and availability of seasonal produce but the quality remains consistent throughout.

Admittedly, the free-flow freshly shucked opulent oysters from five different countries will always be the biggest draw at 10 at Claymore. The decadent variety will make you lose your mind, i.e. Canadian Family Bay Oysters, French Oysters, Irish Premium Oysters, New Zealand Pacific Oysters and the United States Washington Bay Oysters.

This alone is reason enough for us to return to the buffet at Pan Pacific Orchard, Singapore over and over again.

P.S. The oysters are only available during dinner buffet.

10 at Claymore’s massive dessert spread will have your little ones grinning from ear to ear. Just look at the chocolate fountain and the sheer number of cakes!

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

There is also a Crêpe live station where you can request for a cooked-to-order French crêpes. The choice of fillings includes Nutella, peanut, blueberry, strawberry, peach, fresh cream and even durian.

Now, don’t you agree that this is buffet spread with an irresistible promotion?

Remember to quote ‘ladyironchef’ to enjoy an all-you-can-eat indulgent feast at S$58++* for two during lunch (U.P. S$42++/pax) and S$98++ for two during dinner (U.P. S$68++/pax). This exclusive promotion** is valid from 10 Jan 2017 to 28 Feb 2017 (blackout dates apply).

10 at Claymore at Pan Pacific Orchard, Singapore has been impressing with their luxurious, star-studded buffet spreads. Remember the two sell-out Penang Fiesta and the Oysters buffets? Of course you’d remember them because they were absolute value-for-money spreads.

The good news is, from 01 October to 30 November 2016, 10 at Claymore will bring back the best of both worlds with Magni-feast-cent Affair – a line-up complete with fresh oysters, premium meats and Penang fare.

Exclusively for readers of Ladyironchef, enjoy the buffet at a special price of S$98++ for two pax on Mondays to Wednesdays for dinner. Here are some highlights you can anticipate from the spread.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
// ]]>

The fresh oysters from the spread include French, Canadian, US, Australian and New Zealand oysters. All oysters are freshly shucked. Have them bare or with some of 10 at Claymore’s homemade condiments such as tomato salsa and red wine shallot vinegar.

Here for the meat? Enjoy some New Zealand grass-fed organic beef carved and grilled a la minute to your preferred doneness.

Lastly, you cannot miss out on 10 at Claymore’s coveted Penang spread. The Executive Chef is from Penang, and he takes pride in serving only the most authentic dishes that taste like (his) home.

The award-winning Peddler’s Famous Char Kway Teow is without a doubt, one of the best renditions in Singapore. And we always go back to the Bak Kut Teh with Kurobuta Pork Belly counter for seconds. Assam Laksa with Barramundi Fillet, Prawn Noodle Broth and Penang Rojak are some other Penang fare that you should try too.

Living in one of the world’s most expensive cities has its pros and cons. While those residing in Singapore are blessed with an impressive variety of watering holes, the drawback would be the exorbitant prices of alcohol.

These days, it is extremely common to pay at least S$20 for a glass of champagne in Singapore; going out for drinks is far from affordable.

So, imagine our surprise when we were told that Raffles Hotel’s Bar & Billiard Room is offering an awesome value-for-money promotion. You guys, two glasses of premium champagne, four freshly shucked oysters and a complimentary bucket of Indian flatbreads papadums – all at only S$30++ on every Friday from 6pm to 9pm.

Now, that is a rare indulgent treat without an extravagant price tag!

Located on the ground floor of the luxurious Raffles Hotel is Singapore’s oldest existing bar, Bar & Billiard Room. The drinking spot is characterised by high ceilings and elegant chandeliers; a great venue for business meetings and romantic dates alike.

Play a game or two at Bar & Billiard’s century-old pool table and experience what it feels like to be teleported back into Singapore’s colonial era.

Boasting over 400 whisky labels and a cabinet of high quality cigars, this gorgeous institution is a must-visit for all whisky-and-cigar connoisseurs. A comprehensive whisky-centric programme run by resident whisky expert Christoph B.

Nyfeler is conducted here and guests can expect exciting events such as whisky appreciation nights and whisky master classes.

Whisky aside, Bar & Billiard Room features an extensive list of artisanal cocktails too. Do check their handcrafted concoctions out during Singapore Cocktail Week. A must-try would be the ‘Stray Tiger’ – a strong mix of absinthe, lemongrass foam, lime juice, orange liqueur, rum and vermouth.

Hanging out at Bar & Billiard Room sounds like a costly affair but it need not be when you visit on Fridays. Usher into the weekend with just S$30++ and you are entitled to luxuriate over four Irish oysters that are shucked right in front of you, two glasses of award-winning Ernest Rapeneau Selection Brut Champagne and savoury papadums. That is a spanking good deal for things that we would otherwise have to break a bank (well, sort of) for!

You now have a better idea on how to welcome the weekends, don’t you? And who knows? Friday nights might just be when you get to rub shoulders with other celebrities at Bar & Billiard Room!

You would never expect to find a swanky open-concept bar in Alexandra. This new hangout is called Aqua Luna, located on the 7th storey of Park Hotel Alexandra, offering an alternative view of the beautiful Queenstown precinct. The stylish alfresco bar is parked right beside the 25-metre infinity swimming pool, and boasts an exciting gourmet menu of bar nosh and exotic cocktails.

But more than its tranquil vibes and interesting variety of tantalising cocktails, Aqua Luna is a stunner and the perfect venue for post-work drinks with colleagues and/or a great night out with your beloved other half. Upon stepping to the outdoors of the pool level of the property, we were amazed and in complete disbelief. The circular rooftop bar was dimly lit and set against the evening skies, candy floss coloured post-sunset skies welcomed us, and our moods were instantly lifted; how can a so-called neighbourhood bar be so sexy?

We can just hear all of you who are sick and tired of the CBD’s overly crammed bars; it is time to make your way down to Aqua Luna, this all new tranquil oasis that we have been to several times now, and are completely in love with.

From now till 13 November 2015, readers of ladyironchef can get an exclusive 50% off the second drink at Aqua Luna (more details at the end of the post). So grab a cocktail and some light bites, watch the sunset from an alternative venue, kick back and enjoy an evening of being away from the madness in town. You deserve this break.

Set to be a laid-back hotel bar in Southern Singapore, Aqua Luna indeed exudes remarkably chill vibes throughout the afternoon and even into the night. It also serves as a swim-up bar for in-house guests; how cool is that?

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

The scrumptious selection of bar food and premium cocktails will impress even the most discerning epicureans. The spanking new bar is partially encased by a glass-to-ceiling transparent windows, hence allowing one to simultaneously admire the picturesque surroundings whilst indulging in a meal.

Gone are the days where you can easily find a handcrafted cocktail under S$20. So imagine our surprise when we found out that Aqua Luna’s special cocktails and classics are all reasonably priced at S$18++ each! What a delightful steal! Each invigorating concoction is prepared with fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables, and don’t they just look gorgeous?

Signature must-tries include the Breezy Berries and Poire Basil. The former is a blend of mint, lychee liqueur, cherry bitters and Pisco, while the latter is a revitalising mix of Absolut Pear Vodka, basil, grapefruit bitters and zesty lime juice garnished with fresh pear slices.

Both cocktails are served in old-school silver metal tins and decorated with real fruits. These beverages are actually very potent and you will get the bang for your buck!

Another drink that you should try is their spiced cocktail Hot Melons (S$18++) – a brilliant Asian fusion invention inspired by the liqueur affogato.

Muddled with chilli padi, shaken with dark rum and served with a soursop sorbet, the cocktail is a unique sweet-and-spicy concoction. The spiciness have been underwhelmed by the ice-cream so you do not have to worry about having your tongue on fire!

Or you can also savour the classic margarita, martini and mojito with an additional unexpected twist of your choice. Spiced mojito or mojito infused with peach or mixed berries, what say you?

Similarly, you could have an apple or lychee martini instead of the traditional one. Last but not least, enjoy either a mango or mixed berry margarita – or stick to the good old classics. These enthralling classic tipples are priced at S$18++ each too.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

If you are here to catch the dazzling sunset, do order an Alexandra Sunset (S$18++) to kickstart your evening.

Named after Aqua Luna’s location, this golden-hued cocktail creation – an infusion of Grand Marnier liqueur with flamed Rosemary, pineapple juices, white rum and dark rum – is served in a classy wine glass and a hit amongst both the ladies and gentlemen.

Aqua Luna keeps its entire menu extremely affordable. We were pleasantly surprised by how generously portioned and appetising the unassuming Battered Cauliflower (S$8++) was.

Each crispy fried batter contained an impossibly tender cauliflower and we love how it packed a punch with its hints of fragrant curry and onion. The addictive vegetarian dish is served with an irresistible cheesy béchamel dipping sauce on the side. Sinful as it may sound, we would return to Aqua Luna just for this, because diet can (sometimes) wait.

Sick of the ubiquitous truffle fries? Give their heavenly Truffle Polenta Fries (S$10++) a shot and you definitely will not regret wasting your calories on this amazing savoury treat. Well, for those who always tell us truffle fries are too mainstream for their liking, this would do the trick for you!

For the uninitiated, polenta is a type of thick cornmeal that is most commonly used in Central Europe It is consumed in other parts of the world such as South America and the Middle East, and they may be named differently and more commonly known as cornmeal.

For those who are keen to try something different, you will enjoy these delightful polenta fries that are dusted in parmesan cheese and served with a dollop of homemade truffle-infused mayonnaise dipping sauce.

Oysters fan, please join us in feasting with these freshly shucked Seasonal Oysters (1/2 doz – S$24++) served au natural with a classic mignonette. Can you imagine slurping them juicy oysters while swimming? Oh god, the life!

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>//

Those who do not fancy the exquisite oysters can still find other seafood nibbles, such as the A Pint of Prawns (S$14++) served with cocktail sauce, and A Pot of Mussels (S$18++) – blue mussels that have been cooked with Chardonnay.

Of course, the carnivores can join us in feasting on the decadent “Dirty” Steak (S$36++) which is grilled to medium-rare and charred in the wood-fired oven while sitting atop charcoal. It is served with anchovy butter and a pinch of sea salt.

How awesome does steak by the pool sound, right? We are all so used to steak in fine restaurants, and this experience at Aqua Luna sure is a fresh breath of air.

On to the flatbreads now, my friends. Essentially wood-fired pizzas served fresh from the oven, these bar snacks are actually very filling and enjoyable with some cocktails (but of course).

There are a total of five flavours to choose from – Crabmeat & Artichoke (S$24++), Margarita (S$18++), Beef & Chilli (S$20++), Tiger Prawn & Pesto (S$24++) and Chorizo & Onion (S$18++).

It is also worth mentioning that the breads have been painstakingly proofed for at least three hours, hence giving rise to a light and crispy crust. And they are made fresh daily!

When daylight wanes away and night-time takes over, Aqua Luna transforms from a tropical paradise into a dimly lit romantic bar; the latter is how we will always remember Aqua Luna to be, as when we first saw the bar in its full glory against the golden sunset.

You should, too, drop by during the evening for a spectacular sunset experience – watch the sun descend right before your eyes and witness the landscape transform into mesmerising city lights with a glass of signature cocktail in hand. We will return in a heartbeat for this lovely sanctuary. Will you?
