Gone are the days when waffles are being eaten on its own—there are literally cafes serving waffles paired with ice cream everywhere we go now and even savoury waffle pairings for those who do not have a sweet tooth.

The waffle and ice cream pairing seems to be a trend that never gets old. Golden brown, crispy waffles and velvety smooth ice cream is the perfect combination and an ideal dessert for many who are looking for a hearty dessert to round off the night.

Granted, these treats do not come cheap. For those who’d love to savour some waffles and ice cream without breaking the bank, fret not for here are 10 cafes in Singapore where you can get waffles and ice cream for less than S$10.

DENZY GELATO

Opened in February 2019, Denzy Gelato is a relatively new addition to the slew of cafes serving ice cream and waffles. Be that as it may, this humble cafe nestled under an HDB is worth a visit not just for its affordability but also their range of flavours.

A waffle with ice cream set will set you back by just S$8—try out their premium flavours (+S$1) including Elderflower Mojito Sorbet and Persian Peach, in which the latter is made using saffron and almond.

For something comforting, give their Croque Madame a try. While it looks unassuming, the cheese-laden sandwich was the energy booster we needed to start our day on the right note.

Lavishly filled with layers of Virginia Ham, cheese, béchamel sauce and finished with a runny egg on the top, the Croque Madame makes for a great breakfast option! All you need is to pair it with a cup of hot coffee to complete the meal.

Those who are visiting O’Coffee Club Xpress in Changi Airport T4 can also opt for the French Toast, which is exclusively available at that outlet only.

If pastries are your thing, you will find plenty of options at O’Coffee Club Xpress. Watch the pastry chef craft them from scratch at the open kitchen beside the pastry counter.

Their in-store bakery carries all sorts of aromatic pastries and some highlights are Apple Turnover, Chicken Pie, Strawberry Basket and Jumbo Sausage Braid. All pastries can be warmed up upon request and are made fresh to order.

GOURMET FOOD SELECTION

Refuel your brains with some wholesome food; there are a ton of hot food options too.

Our favourite of the lot is the Chili Crab Pasta but be warned that it is not for the faint-hearted! It captures the essence of our favourite Singaporean local delight pretty well with the pasta being topped with a generous amount of chilli crab sauce and crab meat.

On days when you feel a little more famished, the Baked Yakiniku Chicken Thigh is what you need to go for. Together with the glorious golden brown chicken thigh, this dish is accompanied with creamy mashed potato and refreshing garden salad.

Full Breakfast, Eggs Benedict, Sausage & Mash and Salted Egg Prawn Pasta are just some other choices on the menu.

IT’S A MEATY MEATY AFFAIR

Lunch is the best time to visit O’Coffee Club Xpress as that is when you get to enjoy their Meaty Meaty Platter!

Featuring BBQ baby pork ribs, chicken chop, sausage, crispy bacon, sunny sid ups, mashed potato, side salad and creamy pepper sauce dip, this platter can be broken down into individual sets with sides.

GRAB & GO

If you are in a rush, O’Coffee Club has a convenient Grab & Go station that offers healthy and wholesome food options. A wide range of freshly-made salads and sandwiches are available, with the inclusion of our favourite Wasabi Prawn & Avocado and Smoked Duck salads on the premium line!

Besides that, all sandwiches can be warmed up upon request and are made fresh upon order!

Do note that every O’Coffee Club Xpress outlet differs in aesthetics and ambience, so even if you’ve been to one, you haven’t been to all. There are six outlets in Singapore waiting for you to check out!

This post is brought to you by O’Coffee Club Xpress.

Time and again, we have seen short-term food trends come and go. But one that remain pretty stagnant (in a good way) is the Salted Egg Yolk Craze. Then, along the way, everyone is working with their creativity and trying to incorporate this ingredient to every kind of dish possible.

As big fans of the tasty salted egg yolk in both savoury dishes and sweet desserts, we are always looking out for the next best salted egg yolk dish. In our appetisers, in our desserts, in our snacks… everything. We are always ready to try.

This guide includes some of our favourites from our original Salted Egg Yolk Dishes guide, and after several adventures islandwide, we have compiled a list of the best Salted Egg Yolk Dishes in Singapore.

Tsurai Spicy Salted Egg Fish Skin is the newest fish skin snack in the market and quite possibly one of the best fish skin snacks in Singapore. Any time is a good time for fish skin. This is one of the best things to snack on.

The Salted Egg fish skin snack is one flavour that will please everyone, and it will never go wrong. So good, you can eat it on its own. Or use it as dunks for your steamboat! The Salted Egg flavour is slightly spicy, so the kids may want to go easy on this.

ARBITE CAFE SALTED EGG YOLK FRIES

Fries all day, every day. All the better if they are coated with salted egg yolk sauce! Arbite dishes up a really mean serving for less than S$10, so this works really well as a sharing dish. Even better if you have it all to yourself.

Essentially a dessert cafe and ice cream parlour, Twenty Grammes has been constant in serving up quality ice cream, great waffles and unique flavours. Located along North Bridge Road, where an influx of new cafes have seen their way to the neighbourhood, Twenty Grammes has since upped the ante and new creations have been added to the menu to introduce more excitement for patrons.

Walking into this inviting and brightly-coloured cafe with perfect natural light streaming in, you will feel an immediate sense of comfort while being hit with the rich aroma of freshly prepared waffles.

It is also interesting to see how Twenty Grammes has curated some of Singapore’s recent dessert trends and attempted their own renditions. Here are some of the things that we love at Twenty Grammes; think savoury waffle with sea salt caramel ice cream, charcoal waffle with homemade salted egg yolk sauce, yogurt parfaits and more.

From now till 31 October 2015, flash this post at Twenty Grammes (Blk 529 Ang Mo Kio Ave 10 or 753 North Bridge Road) and get 50% OFF the second waffle purchased (of same value or lower) from Mondays to Fridays only.

UNIQUE FLAVOURED LATTES

You might have noticed a stream of “flavoured” lattes on your social media timelines. Although you might pass it off as a marketing scam, the subtle and refreshing flavours offered by Twenty Grammes impressed us. Both the Blackberry and Macadamia were interesting alternatives for our caffeine crave.

The former is a subtle fruity punch to the rich coffee, while the latter is an aromatic and nutty delight. Twenty Grammes also offer other flavoured lattes, such as Caramel, Hazelnut and Vanilla at S$5.50 each.

WHOLESOME SALADS

For a light but satisfying meal, indulge in one of their five salad choices. The King Smoked Duck Salad (S$9.50) came with smoked duck slices that were extremely flavourful and tender, much to our glee. The salad of green and red lettuce was tossed with tomatoes and walnuts for an added crunch.

The House Special Salad (S$11.90) includes a generous amount of smoked salmon atop green and cold sesame pasta, and is too finished with some tomatoes and walnuts.

HEARTY CHICKEN PIE

The 753 Pie (S$11.50) is a chicken and mushroom pie that is served with a side of truffle chips and garden salad. We totally loved the aroma of truffle, and it perfumed the chips evenly that we couldn’t stop eating. Of course, sitting inside the flaky crust of the pie are big and tender chunks of chicken.

DOUBLE T WAFFLE – WAFFLE STUFFED WITH TURKEY HAM

We were apprehensive initially, knowing that the turkey ham was weaved into the waffle batter and it would be a savoury instead of the usual familiar dessert waffle. But this dish took all of us by surprise – a pleasant one, of course. It changed our perception of savoury waffle altogether. With the use of truffle oil, the waffle’s enchanting aroma wafted into our hearts. The waffle itself was extremely crisp and because turkey ham was added inside, the batter tasted more flavourful.

We love the perfect marriage of sweet and salty in their sea salt caramel ice cream, which was dolloped on top of this mouth-watering savoury waffle.

SOFT-SERVE FROYO WAFFLES

By aesthetics sense, this would be the best-looking waffle. Perched on top of their fluffy waffles is a generous portion of their signature soft-serve frozen yogurt. With plenty of fruits sitting around this waffle (S$12.50), this is the choice for those who choose to skip the richness of ice cream and want to stick to something healthier.

CHARCOAL WAFFLE WITH HOMEMADE SALTED EGG SAUCE

Before you have your doubts about this dish, the Charcoal Waffle (S$8.50) at Twenty Grammes was definitely on point. The crisp outer layer, coupled with the addition of an ultra-rich salted egg yolk sauce, is such a divine combination.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

The sauce is served in a huge and generous pot and we could not have been more delighted and satisfied. It is an additional S$3.50 for one scoop of ice cream on top and S$6.50 for two. You can pick from their wide range of ice cream flavours, but we recommend the Triple C which is made of chocolate, caramel and chocolate chunks.

ROSE LYCHEE CAKE

We found a slice of heaven with Twenty Grammes’ Rose Lychee Cake. It is both light and extremely packed with refreshing lychee and rose flavours. The cake itself remains moist despite it being not overly dense, and the taste is light on the palate.

ICE MELBOURNE COFFEE

Twenty Grammes’ Iced Melbourne Coffee (S$7.90) is a genius idea and a great way to enhance a typical iced latte. This cup of iced latte is topped with a scoop of their popular sea salt caramel ice cream for a more concentrated flavour. Honestly, sea salt caramel ice cream in coffee is simply brilliant. How come no one thought of it?!

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>//

TG YOGURT PARFAIT

You can pick either TG Froyo (S$4.50, one topping) or TG Yogurt Parfait (S$6.90, four toppings). And yes, it is going to sound familiar. Pick from an extensive range of ingredients such as tortilla chips, honey mustard soy crisps, granola, peaches, blueberries and more. Then, complete with a drizzle of any one of their sauces (that is considered one topping’s worth). On a lighter note, the toppings option is mind-boggling; you have been warned.

The range of sauces include chocolate hazelnut sauce and caramelised cookies sauce. The latter is already a popular favourite here. You can also choose from a more premium range of toppings (S$1.90 each). Some of these premium toppings are coconut gula melaka granola and manuka honey cashew nuts. The froyo itself is light, and a great way to combat the heat.

Twenty Grammes is currently in the midst of renovating its second outlet and it will be opening in Ang Mo Kio by next month – another cafe in the North of Singapore you can look forward to!

If you are living around the Bedok area or anywhere in the East of Singapore, you have to try FATCAT Ice Cream Bar at least once in your life. They have a variety of interesting ice cream flavours and other beautiful desserts to choose from.

You might have seen the popular Charcoal Waffles with Salted Egg Yolk Sauce in our previous Unique Waffles Guide in Singapore but FATCAT Ice Cream Bar definitely has a lot more to offer. Lime Mojito Spheres? Raspberry Banana Chocolate Truffles? Yes to all!

If you are a big fan of waffles, we have already raved about their awesome charcoal waffles and accompanying salted egg sauce, so this a must-order when you visit little ice cream store in Bedok. Not surprisingly, this waffle is the most-ordered and most-photographed item there.

The adventurous will dive right for their restaurant-worthy plated desserts such as the burst-in-your-mouth Lime Mojito Spheres which has also been raved about countless of times by many. Others include the relatively new Strawberry Fields that includes contrasting flavours of wasabi and green tea that they somehow weave together perfectly.
