Habitat Coffee Upper Thomson Road Singapore

Habitat Coffee

The cafe scene in Singapore is thriving with many new cafes opening every month. However, there are many places that do not last long because they lack real substance to build a following. Oftentimes, new cafes are more style than substance, and serves mediocre food with lacklustre service.

Habitat Coffee at Upper Thomson Road deserves a mention for the great work that it has been doing. The bistro has been around for a few years, and despite the tough competition, it shines and remains a favourite for many. Habitat Coffee is worth visiting because it serves good coffee and well-cooked dishes at sensible prices.

mezza9 Grand Hyatt Singapore Sunday Champagne Brunch

“The ultimate champagne brunch.” That was the only thought we had on our minds while enjoying our feast at mezza9 Grand Hyatt Singapore’s Sunday Champagne Brunch (S$138++ for free flow of Perrier Jouët Grand Brut champagne, premium red and white wines, beers, mojitos and bloody marys, and S$118 with free flow of soft drinks and coffee/tea).

mezza9 at Grand Hyatt Singapore is an institution for Sunday brunch. Its vibrant and upbeat atmosphere makes it the perfect place for family and friends to spend Sundays at. With nine different dining experiences – including the grill, seafood, Thai, steam basket, yakitori, sushi, deli, patisserie, and bar – complete with free flow of champagne, wines and cocktails, there is something for everyone.

The six show kitchens at mezza9 are the perfect stage for the team of talented chefs to whip up their storms, while the friendly service crews are always doing their rounds and making sure that tables are cleared, cutleries are changed, and that your champagne flute is never empty.

Start from the Japanese kitchen, because Japanese food is always a great idea. Tempura, freshly grilled yakitori and sashimi salad are excellent, but make a dash for the array of sashimi and sushi. The Chinese kitchen has excellent roast meats. Pork belly, spare ribs, BBQ char siew and roast duck… Everything is sublime. For more meat, head to the grill, which features roasted chicken, slow roasted black angus prime sirloin and roasted lamb leg.

Seafood lovers will be mind-blown by the selection at the crustacean bar. Grand Hyatt prides itself on serving sustainable seafood, and over here, you will be spoiled by the variety of seafood such as Spencer gulf wild king prawns, Tasmanian mussels, Canadian lobster, Sri Lankan mud crabs, and freshly shucked oysters from France and Australia. Let’s pull our chairs to the seafood bar and feast all day long.

The pastry team at mezza9 is out to impress with its tantalising creations. Bread pudding, citron tart, cream puffs, chocolate tart, oreo cheesecake, and homemade gelato will send you to dessert paradise. And, we mean it when we say we were close to stealing the entire tray of Tiramisu.

If you are thinking of where to go for mother’s day, celebrate the occasion in style at mezza9′s Mother’s Day Sunday Brunch. For more details, check out the promotion here.

The Bravery Cafe Singapore

The Bravery

It took us a while to visit The Bravery Cafe because we have heard mixed reviews about it. Some people mentioned that the seats are uncomfortable (which is true to an extent), while others commented that there is nothing outstanding and it is just another new cafe.

However, after our first visit to this cafe in the Lavender neighbourhood, we find ourselves returning whenever we are in the vicinity and in need of a caffeine boast.

Wild Honey Scotts Square Singapore

Wild Honey Scotts Square

Brunch is easily Singapore’s favourite meal. Fluffy pancakes drenched in maple syrup and accompanied by butter, Eggs Benedicts drowned in rich hollandaise sauce, or a hearty big breakfast of eggs, streaky bacons, sausages and toast – it is almost impossible to not like brunch.

In a city that has seen almost every restaurant and café serving brunch on weekends, Wild Honey has done remarkably well. It is one of the first few places that offers all-day brunch. It seems to have the right formula: brunch food made from produce that is sourced from the best in-season markets over the world – with very familiar flavours that would appeal to diners of all agw. There is no wonder both Wild Honey branches at Mandarin Gallery and Scotts Square are always packed.

Symmetry Cafe Singapore

Symmetry

It seems like a new brunch spot opens every other week, so it is surprising to see Symmetry doing a roaring business for weekend brunch despite its out-of-the-way location at 9 Jalan Kubor.

Symmetry is beautiful in a rustic sort of way. The brick walls and dim lights lend a cosy feel to it, making it perfect for a lazy weekend brunch.

House Dempsey Singapore

 House Dempsey Hill

Singapore F&B scene has been very exciting over the past few years. There is always a new place opening almost every week. There are so many new and cool restaurants that I find it hard to keep up. While I love checking out the latest hip place in town – it is, after all, my job to do that – sometimes, I just like to go somewhere familiar. One of my favourite restaurants in Singapore is House at Dempsey Hill.

Riders Cafe Bukit Timah Saddle Club Singapore

Death by Chocolate Cake

There are some places we go to because of one specific dish. The ones that make you crave for it all the time. The ones you will visit even if the place is located in an inaccessible area. One of them, for me, is the Death by Chocolate Cake ($12) at Rider’s Cafe.

Riders Cafe

Rider’s Cafe at Bukit Timah Saddle Club needs no introduction. It is one of the most popular brunch spots in Singapore and everyone knows about them. If you have never been there before, you must go there for brunch this weekend. And if it has been a while since you last went, it is definitely time to go back again.
