Popular homegrown bakery Elijah Pies is opening its first-ever dining concept with its new cafe at Tanjong Pagar Plaza.

Established in 2014 as a takeaway shop, Elijah Pies is a specialty pie shop that is known for their famous nutella pie as well as an array of gorgeous pies. They opened a baking studio at 803 King George’s Ave in Lavender in 2021.

The new Elijah Pies cafe will be officially opening to the public on 6 May 2023. They will be giving a free box of Mini Pies (S$26.90) for the first 50 customers (who spend a minimum of S$20) on their opening day on 6 May 2023.

The design of Elijah Pies’ new cafe is intended to imitate the cozy ambiance of a residential home and has been thoughtfully created to accommodate 20 guests across 5 sections – the porch, living room, dining table, fireplace and daybed.

The central feature of Elijah Pies’ new location is a 4-meter long island table situated within an open kitchen, where founder-baker Elijah Tan and his team of bakers will serve a thoughtfully selected menu of pies that are crafted by hand and offer comforting and familiar flavors.

The menu will include popular sweet and savoury pies such as the Nutella Pie, Yuzu Meringue Pie , as well as new creations like the Seaweed Chicken Pot Pie and Mac N’ Cheese Pie.

Fans of Elijah Pies will know that they serve some of the best tarts in Singapore and they taste just as good as they look.

Get a table at the counter and catch a glimpse of founder-baker Elijah Tan and his team assembling and preparing the final touches at the open kitchen.

There are three new savoury pies which are available exclusively at the new cafe:

Mac N’ Cheese Pie (S$12.90)

Tomato Prawn Bisque Pie (S$14.90)

Seaweed Chicken Pot Pie (S$13.90)

We had the chance to try all the savoury pies which are generously filled with lots of ingredients and our top picks are the Black Truffle Mash Pie, Mac N’ Cheese Pie and Scallop Chowder Pie. The savoury pies are great as a light snack during lunch for those who are working in the Central Business District.

In addition to the pies, there is also a range of beverages available that have been created using baking methods. These include the Vanilla Pistachio drink that is blended with genuine nut butter, and the Grapefruit Elderflower soda that is infused with locally farmed organic flowers.

You can also grab a cup of coffee to go along with your favourite tarts.

We have Bob The Builder, and we have Bob The Baker Boy who is fond of cakes, especially moist and cottony-soft cakes, which are exactly what you can look forward to when placing an order with Bob The Baker Boy.

You have probably seen Bob The Baker Boy’s customised cakes and dessert tables making their rounds on Instagram and Facebook. There are over 400 designs to choose from. And if you have any particular design in mind for your cake, you can always let the creative team know and they will make your wish come true.

That’s not all. Bob The Baker Boy also has a range of awesome bakes including mini tarts, and brownies.

Bob is our new best friend and he will be yours too when you next need a customised cake. Or tarts. Or anything sweet, really.

DEFYING GRAVITY FLOATING BEER CAN CAKE

Let’s start off with their customised cakes, shall we? They are what made Bob The Baker Boy famous, and our dear Bob deserves all the recognition for the superb hand-crafted cakes that have made birthdays memorable for countless people.

For the fickle-minded ones, you are going to be in trouble because they have hundreds of designs for you to choose from. And everything looks so cute and realistic, it’s impossible to just select one. We feel you, really. Even if you are a decisive person, the range will leave you mind-boggled, even if it’s just for a while.

Being the alcoholics we are, we eventually decided on this gravity-defying beer cake. We went with a classic flavour that will please the crowd—Belgian Chocolate cake covered with pearl sprayed vanilla buttercream, and layered with zero-added sugar chocolate custard.

The layered cake was decadent and satisfying with every bite. You know how some cakes look way better than they taste? Not for this. This looked every bit photogenic and Instagram-worthy, and tasted legit. We are already dreaming of our next customised cake by them!

STRAWBERRIES & CREAM CAKE

Adapted from the ever-so-popular strawberries shortcake, expect moist and velvety vanilla layers for this cake. Slice your fork into cake that’s fluffy like the clouds, filled with freshly whipped Chantilly and farm-picked sliced strawberries.

Money may not buy us happiness, but it can buy us Bob The Baker Boy’s Strawberries & Cream Cake and it’s about the same thing. This is one classic flavour to love, great for both young and old, and definitely one we will reorder.

BROWN SUGAR BOBA MILK CAKE

You guys, this cake is a dream come true. Imagine your favourite brown sugar boba milk, but in a cake form. That is exactly what it is—literally! Cut into fragrant vanilla cake layers, generously filled with creamy brown sugar Chantilly and sweet starchy boba fillings.

The Brown Sugar Boba Milk Cake is such a brilliant creation by Bob The Baker Boy. We love. the cottony soft and moist cake that is accompanied with fragrant brown sugar cream. And that boba filling! That chewy, sweet boba filling completed the cake with a lovely texture variety.

It is also noteworthy that Bob The Baker Boy bakes cakes with lower sugar content (30-50% lower in sugar than regular customised cakes). This is a huge plus point for us because we are the kind of people who dig into whole cakes even when it is nobody’s birthday, and we can do with something that’s significantly lesser in sugar so we do not feel as guilty for eating cakes. You feel us?

ASSORTED FOUR CHEESE TARTS

These cute little tarts are great for small parties and the kids are bound to love them. With a firm tart shell that crumbles upon sinking your teeth into it, the Brûlée Cheese Tarts (S$23.90 for 12) is our favourite flavour. Fresh cheese filling encased in fragrant vanilla tart crust, these little bites of happiness are super addictive and you simply cannot stop at one. Or two. Or three.

The other flavours to love are Strawberries Cheesecake Tarts, Cookies & Cream Mini Tarts and Blueberry Cheesecake Tarts. These are slightly stronger in terms of taste, but nothing too cheesy that non-cheese lovers can’t take.

AU NATUREL BROWNIES

Their brownies are slightly cakier and are more like cupcakes, actually. But we like that they are not cloyingly sweet. Reheat them in the microwave oven before eating.

When BAKE Cheese Tart first arrived in Singapore we, as a nation, were obsessed. Their first stall here opened at the basement food hall of Ion Orchard with a second branch in Westgate that quietly closed down.

For a long time, BAKE Cheese Tart had just the one flavour—without even any limited-time seasonal other—yet the queues for it stayed insanely long. Many claimed that the stringently measured 7cm in diameter tart came as good as did their original stall in Japan.

Despite the unforgettable first bite, the hype for the Hokkaido treat gradually died down. Following the announcement of the opening of its sister brand, CROQUANT CHOU ZAKUZAKU, BAKE Cheese Tart will be closing its outlet at ION Orchard to exit the Singapore market.

BAKE Cheese Tart has a fluffy mousse that is made from their original blend of three cheeses that balances creaminess and tartness with a hint of saltiness. It is all cradled in a crust that is pre-baked then baked again after the cheese mousse is added in to give it its distinctly crispy texture.

The factory as their store concept will be a sight to miss. This makes sure each tart is always as fresh as it gets, with us even watching staff count the seconds down to when each hot tray of tarts is cooled enough and ready for purchase.

It may be the premium price for the premium tart or the brand’s inability to keep up with the fast-changing food trends that gradually led to its demise in Singapore. Whatever the case, the only thing left to do now is for us to grab what we can to chow down before we can’t anymore.

Tucked away in Upper Cross Street is Whiskit Bakery & Cafe—one of the most instagrammable cafes in Singapore which serves up an array of delectable desserts!

From colourful Rainbow Cheesecakes to more local-inspired pastry such as Kaya Ondeh tarts, Whiskit Bakery & Cafe is definitely one to mark down on your list of cafes you have to try in Singapore.

Decorated with all-pink chairs and floral decor, this hidden gem of a cafe is sure to send your Instagram-senses tingling with excitement. It was also relatively easy to spot with its beautiful decor, setting it apart from the traditional stores surrounding it in this quiet part of Chinatown.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

The egg custard encased in the pastry is of a pastel yellow shade – not the typical rich hue you might see, but what do you know? It is so silky, creamy and sweet! This is hands down one of the best egg tarts you can find in Singapore.

They also have Western-style egg tarts which come in a different shell – the harder kind that tastes more subtle. While it uses the same egg custard filling, we prefer the Hong Kong-style egg tart’s flaky puff pastry.

Other pastries that are baked in-house and sold at Leung Sang Hong Kong Pastries include Roasted Chicken Pastry, Polo Buns, Lotus Seed Century Egg Pastry and Mushroom Chicken Pie.

Each pastry costs S$1.30, and if you buy 10 pastries, you get one pastry of your choice for free.
