Inspired by mammoth gourmet Levain cookies in New York, Nasty Cookie prides themselves as being the 1st New York Gourmet Cookie store that provides a chunky and chewy texture, made using only the finest dark couverture chocolate. A generous filling of either Nutella, Marshmallow, or Dulce de leche is injected into every cookie. Our favourite flavours include Reese’s Cup and Biscoff Cookie.

We don’t know how they do it, but somehow they manage to combine the sweetness and saltiness of their cookies perfectly, and that keeps us coming back for more.

If there is one thing we cannot live without, it is, undoubtedly, desserts. You name it, we love it. There is just something about that sweet, indulgent treat that never fails to light up our day. This time around, instead of going for our usual choice of ice cream and waffles, we decided to spoil ourselves with something a little different — an underrated, yet equally sinful treat: brownies.

We paid a visit to one of the most highly-raved brownie shops in Singapore lately: BUNDT by The Backyard Bakers. Nestled in Havelock II, they are a hole-in-the-wall takeaway kiosk near Clarke Quay MRT dishing out sinful pieces of chocolatey happiness, also known as dangerously addictive brownies. They also serve coffee.

Albeit hard to find, the joint was still constantly packed with eager customers waiting to sample BUNDT’s bite-sized goodies.

Each brownie is lovingly prepared and made from scratch; customers can also look forward to a different menu from them each day.

First up, we tried their Crunchy Peanut Butter Brownie (S$4.80). Upon unwrapping its package, we were greeted by the tantalising aroma of peanut butter. Specked with bits of sliced peanuts, the chewy brownie also contained a fudgy middle with peanut butter oozing out. 

The decadent brownie was moist and rich with a slightly crispy crust. It was also baked with just the right amount of sweetness and salt.

We also got a taste of their Nutella Hazelnut (S$5.20). One of their best-sellers, this is the one to go for if you are a chocolate lover! Take a bite, and you will be surprised by the burst of chocolate taste.

This brownie is definitely the winner for us — it had a crumbly exterior and was generously studded with chunks of melted milk chocolate. It was also extremely dense, almost reminiscent of a cake.

Those who prefer a coffee that is light on the palate should opt for their Signature Iced White (S$5). Mellow in flavour, it was clean and crisp with a hint of nuttiness.
