What makes a great cup of frozen yogurt? More affectionately known as ‘froyo’, the yogurt itself has to be just the right amount of tart and sweet, and secondly, the toppings has to be interesting, creative and even unexpected, too.

Of course, we are not shaming the basic froyo cup with fresh fruits and/or chocolate sauce, but we have to admit that unique toppings do stand out.

The froyo trend started off as the talk of the town but has seemed to fade off in the recent months. Still, that does not mean that froyo has lost its place in our hearts, as we still witness many like-minded froyo-loving individuals queueing up for this amazing treat.

Singapore has no lack of froyo options, and there has always been a debate on which one is the best. While we have our absolute favourite, we have picked out some of the better ones you can find in Singapore, to bring you this list of Best Frozen Yogurts in Singapore.

#1 FROZEN BY A THOUSAND BLESSINGS

Frozen By A Thousand Blessings at Toa Payoh is the first organic froyo establishment from Melbourne with a self-service ordering system. At S$3.80 per 100g, indulge in popular Froyo flavours such as Pomegranate, Passionfruit and Mango Soy, made with organic milk and fresh fruit puree. With more than 30 visually pleasing homemade toppings to choose from, some favourites include the Red Velvet Cubes, Lemon Curd Tarts and Red Bean Mochi.

#2 GLACIER YOGURT

Not only are the Froyos at Glacier Yogurt packed with wholesome flavours, they also encompass health benefits in them – made using alkaline water with body-nourishing minerals – fulfilling both elements of tasty and healthy at the same time. At S$6.90, the Froyo Parfait came in unconventional flavours; think Matcha and Red Velvet Cake, leaving a distinctly sweet aftertaste with every spoonful.

#3 LLAOLLAO

Crowned as the best froyo in Singapore and we are not even gonna disagree, Llaollao is often the benchmark for what a good froyo should be like. The secret lies in its silky soft Sanum (S$6.50) that can be paired with the most bizarre toppings and sauces – and can still taste completely amazing. There are really no other words to describe this wondrous creation. If you have not tried Llaollao yet, you are seriously missing out on something great.

From now till 31 October 2015, flash this post at Llaollao’s Suntec City outlet and get 50% off the second item purchased (at same value or lower). Imagine buying one Sanum and getting the second Sanum at half the price!

#4 MILK & HONEY

Milk & Honey’s Froyo Parfaits are undoubtedly the most attractive ones we have ever come across. Each cup is served with a handcrafted topping for an extra oomph, and patrons can choose from their well-thought-out concoctions or have fun with a little DIY.

One of their signature Honey Velvet Parfait (S$6.80) is topped with a Red Velvet Macaron, Honey sauce, a piece of Chocolate, with cornflakes and foamy Red Velvet Cake chunks sandwiched between – adding a good depth of flavour to the froyo.

#5 RED MANGO

Red Mango is strategically located in various locations in (or in the vicinity of) the Central Business District. This affordable cup of frozen yogurt sure pleased us with its pleasant taste and simple but comforting toppings that include fruity pebbles and fresh cut kiwis.

#6 SOGURT

As a self-service froyo establishment, we have to admit that it is a great idea to have customers construct their own froyo. Expect not one, not two but multiple froyo flavours.

All you have to do is to pick a cup size of choice, dispense the froyo (you can even mix all of them together!), then pile on the toppings. From cookie crumble to fruits and various sauces, have fun making your own cup of froyo. Charges are based on the weight of your creation.

#7 THE COLD PANTRY

Here at The Cold Pantry, their froyos are a great perk-me-up. One of their crowd favourites, Berry-Licious (S$6), is served with Honeycomb Crumbles, Blueberries and Strawberries – simple but enough to captivate our hearts. The tartness of the fruits gave a welcoming balance to the slightly sweet froyo which made it less cloying.

#8 TWENTY GRAMMES

Twenty Grammes is a cosy cafe in the Arab Street area with great ice cream and waffle offerings. But what most do not know is that they have a delicious TG Yogurt Parfait (S$6.90), that comes in a huge cup with four free toppings included.

While the yogurt itself was nothing to shout about, we especially liked their toppings that range from caramelised cookie sauce to gula melaka granola.

#9 YOGART

Yogart is a home-grown artisan froyo brand that has been compared to Llaollao with their uncanny resemblance. The cafe offers yogurt popsicles, as well as waffles to go with their froyo – an unconventional but genius pairing. Be sure to try out their signature Sea-Salt Caramel sauce which adds a nice savoury touch to the froyo that left us licking our spoons clean.

#10 YOGURU

Yoguru among the first few frozen yogurt brands who pioneered the froyo trend in Singapore, and we love how we can always just have their yogurt on its own, even without any toppings. But look closer to their toppings display and your eyes will be drawn to their colourful toppings, such as white and dark chocolate Pepperos! Yes, please!

#11 YAMI YOGURT

Yami Yogurt is one of the more inexpensive froyos out there, with a standard small cup going for less than S$3. However, with their insanely wide amount of toppings, of course we could eat this every day without getting bored of it!

The cut fruits here are most popular among patrons, but we love some pretty jelly beans for our frozen yogurt. Yami Yogurt is yummy and is one of our go-to places in Singapore for our froyo fix.
