<p style="text-align: justify;">With <a href="https://www.ladyironchef.com/2019/08/ice-cream-parlours-singapore/">numerous gelato joints opening up in Singapore</a> in recent years, it&#8217;s safe to say that our country is going through a serious gelato fad. But, nobody&#8217;s complaining. In this hot and humid climate, we need a lot more than just chendol and teh bing to deal with the heat.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">So, when we heard about a new gelato joint that specialises in botanical flavours, we were down for a visit. Named after the gorgeous butterfly, Monarchs &amp; Milkweed Gelato is a new gelato boutique that specialises in botanical flavours. The concept reminds us of <a href="https://www.ladyironchef.com/2017/03/birds-of-paradise-gelato/">Birds of Paradise</a>.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">They churn out fresh gelato daily, every concoction promising utmost creaminess and unthinkable richness.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span id="more-194833"></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-194952" alt="Monarchs &amp; Milkweed Gelato Interior" src="https://www.ladyironchef.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Monarchs-Milkweed-Gelato-Interior.jpg" width="710" height="1065" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">From the first step in, we were drawn to the minimalistic, laid-back ambience of this cafe. It was dressed in a very clean aesthetic, from its neutral-toned furniture to the light teal brick-patterned wall.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><!-- 336 X 280 Within Content --> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="width: 336px; height: 280px;"></ins>//</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-194955" alt="Monarchs &amp; Milkweed Gelato Flavours" src="https://www.ladyironchef.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Monarchs-Milkweed-Gelato-Flavours.jpg" width="710" height="473" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-weight: 300;">Moving on to the gelato, we had a really hard time choosing from the wide range of intriguing flavours. It didn&#8217;t help that every single flavour sounded phenomenal. With flavours like Tahitian Vanilla and Rhubarb Milk, we were 100% torn. Thankfully, the servers were super friendly and offered to let us try almost every flavour on display. </span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-194994" alt="Monarchs &amp; Milkweed Gelato Brown Butter Sage and Burnt White Chocolate Cone" src="https://www.ladyironchef.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Monarchs-Milkweed-Gelato-Brown-Butter-Sage-and-Burnt-White-Chocolate-Cone.jpg" width="710" height="1065" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-weight: 300;">We settled on their Brown Butter Sage and Burnt White Chocolate (S$8/Double Scoop) in their house-made waffle cone (S$1). </span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-weight: 300;">We were sold on the first bite.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-weight: 300;">The Brown Butter Sage had a subdued caramelised profile, undercut by herbaceous tones. It was such an unusual yet stunning combination. </span><span style="font-weight: 300;">The Burnt White Chocolate was just as formidable with its deep smoky flavour that mellowed the usually cloying sweetness of white chocolate.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Of course, not forgetting the waffle cone which was perfectly crispy and fragrant.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><!-- 336 X 280 Within Content --> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="width: 336px; height: 280px;"></ins>//</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-194960" alt="Monarchs &amp; Milkweed Gelato Lavender" src="https://www.ladyironchef.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Monarchs-Milkweed-Gelato-Lavender.jpg" width="710" height="1065" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Because two scoops weren&#8217;t enough, we got another serving of Lavender and Chocolate Sorbet in a cup.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The Lavender was wonderfully perfumed with floral notes that weren&#8217;t too overpowering. This allowed the luscious milkiness of the gelato to really shine through. The Chocolate Sorbet is a superb dairy-free option for customers with dietary restrictions. Intensely rich and creamy, its deep cocoa profile will linger on your tastebuds long after you&#8217;re done.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><a href="https://www.ladyironchef.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Monarchs-Milkweed-Gelato-Scooping.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-194963" alt="Monarchs &amp; Milkweed Gelato Scooping" src="https://www.ladyironchef.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Monarchs-Milkweed-Gelato-Scooping.jpg" width="710" height="473" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Monarchs &amp; Milkweed Gelato has certainly left their mark on us. Quality ingredients, warm service and alluring ambience — we&#8217;re absolutely sold.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Not to mention, they&#8217;re even having an opening promotion — enjoy a whopping 50% off your bill from 18th to 24th January 2020!</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Nestled in the seemingly quiet Potong Pasir area is a newly opened ice cream joint that serves handcrafted gelato and coffee all day.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Since opening their doors on 19 October 2019, Sweet Cheeks has been delighting visitors with their selection of interesting gelato flavours that have been lovingly prepared in-house.</p>
<p><span id="more-190963"></span></p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-190965" alt="Sweet Cheeks Waffle and Ice Cream" src="https://www.ladyironchef.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Sweet-Cheeks-Waffle-and-Ice-Cream.jpg" width="710" height="1065" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">On our visit, we got a Waffle (S$5.80) served with a regular single scoop of Hazelnut with Nutella Swirl (S$3.70), and a premium single scoop of Fleur De Cao Dark Chocolate (S$4.70).</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Like most <a href="https://www.ladyironchef.com/2019/08/ice-cream-parlours-singapore/">ice cream shops in Singapore</a>, the waffles are made fresh upon order. Even as we waited for our waffle to be ready, we could smell the buttery fragrance in the air which further heightened our anticipation for our dessert.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The waffle came served with the two scoops of gelato on top and honey drizzled all over the plate. We were initially worried that all the wet factors around the waffle might end up turning it soggy quicker, but we were glad that wasn’t the case.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-190966" alt="Sweet Cheeks Close-Up of Waffle" src="https://www.ladyironchef.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Sweet-Cheeks-Close-Up-of-Waffle.jpg" width="710" height="1065" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Despite the gelato starting to melt, the waffle remained crispy and easy to cut through. The waffle was light and fluffy, and could easily pass off as a dessert on its own. However, pairing it with the accompanying gelato is just as good as it gave this sweet treat complementing textures and taste.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-190967" alt="Sweet Cheeks Close-Up of Ice Cream" src="https://www.ladyironchef.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Sweet-Cheeks-Close-Up-of-Ice-Cream.jpg" width="710" height="473" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Of the two flavours that we ordered, we definitely liked Hazelnut with Nutella Swirl a little more than the Fleur De Cao Dark Chocolate as the flavour bore a slightly sweeter taste on a whole, which went quite well with the waffle. The Nutella swirl bits also added an interesting texture to the gelato that we haven’t tasted anywhere else.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">On the other hand, Fleur De Cao Dark Chocolate would definitely be a good flavour for fans of dark chocolate as it had a slightly bitter but all-round rich taste which left a distinct, sweet aftertaste.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-190968" alt="Sweet Cheeks Interior" src="https://www.ladyironchef.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Sweet-Cheeks-Interior.jpg" width="710" height="473" /></p>
