Matcha-lovers have good reason to rejoice as one of Hokkaido’s most famous matcha cafes has graced Singapore’s sunny shores. 108 Matcha Saro, specialising in matcha (Japanese green tea) and hojicha (roasted green tea) drinks and desserts, has set up shop in Suntec City!

Japanese desserts are all the rage now – whether it’s mochi, soft-serve or fluffy pancakes. Once you see the myriad of tea-flavoured items on 108 Matcha Saro’s menu, you’ll be scratching your heads, torn on what to try first!

Check out what we thought about this brand new matcha cafe in Singapore!

We tried the Matcha Hokkaido Soft Serve (S$4.90) and we enjoyed it very much. The ice cream was creamy and had a distinct matcha flavour, enhanced by the luscious matcha syrup that you can request to add on top of your swirl (it’s free).

The cone was a crunchy wafer cone, similar in texture to the McDonalds’ ice cream cone. Our only gripe was that it did become a little soggy as we ate the soft-serve.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

First up was the Classic Soufflé Pancakes (S$8.80) which came with the unmistakable jiggle of a good soufflé pancake. The stack of two pancakes was accompanied by honey butter, chantilly cream and maple syrup.

Pillowy and delicate, the plate of cloud is undeniably one of the better ones we’ve had in Singapore. We liked how the honey butter added some saltiness that was a good contrast against all the sweet.

We also got the Oolong Soufflé Pancakes (S$9.80) which is a stack of the same cloud-like pancakes but served with gula melaka boba and oolong crème anglaise. Not as gimmicky as it looked, it was a really well-balanced dessert that tastes the best when all the components are eaten together.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Although the boba provided a great textual variation, we wish the gula melaka flavour was more prominent. The oolong crème anglaise, on the other hand, had some bitter undertones that makes this a good option for those who prefer their desserts on the less sweet side.

Our pancakes came pretty promptly, but we believe it might take slightly longer during peak periods. With its great price point and soufflé pancakes that are not only photogenic but tasty as well, we foresee ourselves coming back to Fluff Stack to try the other flavours!
