Famous Swiss roll cake shop, Rich & Good Cake Shop has a new online shop at www.richngood.com and you can now get your favourite Swiss roll cakes from them via delivery to your doorstep.

Nestled among the many shophouses that pave the streets of Kampong Glam, Rich & Good Cake Shop stands as something of a confectionery institution in Singapore.

Founded in 1997, Rich & Good Cake Shop rose to fame with their legendary Swiss rolls and they opened a second outlet at Jewel Changi Airport in 2019.

The Swiss rolls on the new online shop are priced between S$8.42 – S$9.35.

Rich & Good Cake Shop’s delivery:

Doorstep delivery service from Mondays to Saturdays

2 time slots (10am – 12pm, 2pm – 5pm)

Minimum order for delivery 5 rolls, maximum 18 rolls

Delivery fee of S$10 – S$15 (depending on the location)

Rich & Good Cake Shop specialises in a variety of Swiss rolls that come in several flavours from chocolate, mango, green tea to blueberry and even durian.

The two flavours, however, responsible for their claim to fame are their Kaya Swiss roll and Durian Swiss roll. Perhaps it’s due to the sense of nostalgia that these classic flavours evoke, but one thing’s for sure, they taste mighty darnn good.

Swirled with pandan-infused kaya, the Kaya Swiss roll is, without a doubt, one of our all-time favourites. The sweet aroma of pandan, coupled by the semi-sweet coconut jam filling makes this modest-looking Swiss roll just the best tea time snack.

Encased within a soft, durian-accented roll is a cream filling mixed with creamy durian. The ratio between durian cream to sponge cake is perfect, such that neither of them overwhelms the other. The roll is sweet but is nicely balanced out by a subtle saltiness in the cream itself. A hit among durian lovers, this is must if you’re thinking of bringing a dessert over to a house party—provided they’re fans of durian as well.

Swirled with pandan-infused kaya, the Kaya Swiss roll is, without a doubt, one of our all-time favourites. The sweet aroma of pandan, coupled by the semi-sweet coconut jam filling makes this modest-looking Swiss roll just the best tea time snack.

We love that it isn’t overly sweet nor laden with insane amounts of filling but still hits the spot nonetheless, and the pillowy exterior also does well to give the roll a nice texture.

Encased within a soft, durian-accented roll is a cream filling mixed with creamy durian. The ratio between durian cream to sponge cake is perfect, such that neither of them overwhelms the other. The roll is sweet but is nicely balanced out by a subtle saltiness in the cream itself.
The flavours and creamy texture of their Chocolate Swiss roll resemble the humble chocolate cake sold in many heartland bakeries. This is by no means comparable if you’re talking about the best chocolate cake around but it does sing of nostalgia, giving us a blast to the past to a time when being able to indulge in a decadent chocolate cake could only happen during birthday celebrations.

The one thing that makes their cakes stand out—and we’re sure most of their fans would agree too—is that their Swiss rolls are incredibly fresh-tasting and will never, ever give you a sense that it was prepared days prior. Take their Strawberry Swiss roll for instance.

Wrapped in between the sponge cake lies swirls of sweet strawberry cream that is nicely underscored by a tinge of sourness—a particular quality that could only be achieved by using fresh strawberries. Their Swiss rolls are all made fresh daily and the benefits include a stronger aroma and fresher flavour.

The East of Singapore is where one will find plenty of hidden treasures. While there are many concept cafes out there, To-gather Cafe in Bedok (next to Fengshan Market) is one gem where you can unwind from work.

Walk into the cafe and you will notice that cursive writings of inspirational quotes and song lyrics fill up the walls in the most elegant manner. There is also a wall featuring post-it notes with messages and compliments penned down personally by customers.

Inspired by an all-time favourite childhood song “The More We Get Together”, the owners of To-gather cafe aims to create a homey ambience concept where people gather together over a good meal and artisan coffees. The cafe offers delectable signature dishes and the most flavourful desserts to end your meal with.

The best part? Most of the main courses are affordably priced under S$12. To-gather Cafe is one place where you can have a good meal without breaking the bank.

GRILLED TENDERLOIN OF BEEF

We are mentioning this dish first because everyone agreed unanimously that this was the best.

Everything about the Grilled Tenderloin of Beef (S$24.90) just clicked together—the soft tenderloin steak grilled to pinkish medium rare doneness, with an addictive black pepper sauce and fragrant truffle oil, complete with mash potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

BRAISED BEEF PASTA

If having a beef steak is too much for you, go for the Braised Beef Pasta (S$11.90). We enjoyed the warm creamy spaghetti jazzed up with colourful bell peppers, button mushrooms and caramelised onions. The star ingredient of this pasta dish is the slow braised beef brisket. We always appreciate the flavours of a long simmered sauce; rich, aromatic and very tender.

PORK CORDON BLEU

The Pork Cordon Bleu (S$11.90) at To-gather Cafe is coated with a crispy crust of bread crumbs and we were greeted by a generous portion of ham and cheese stuffing when we pulled the pork loin apart.

It is important that the chef has the skills to ensure that the top layer has been deep fried to form a crispy casing, while the meat inside remains juicy. We are glad to say that the one at To-gather Cafe is worth trying. The Pork Cordon Bleu comes with fries and fresh salad drizzled over with light mustard sauce.

GRILLED PANDAN CHICKEN CHOP

Chicken chop may be a common item on most menus but Pandan Chicken Chop? Now that’s something we have to mention. The folks at To-gather Cafe have reinvented what used to be a run-of-the-mill food item into an interesting dish you cannot help but notice.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

We settled for a glass of Iced Latte (S$6) to complete our afternoon. Yes, always a fan of Iced Latte and this cool glass sure gave us the caffeine kick that we needed.

Jane had us try some of her new creations such as Red Velvet Brownies, Peanut Butter Cookies and our surprising favourite – Fruit Cake Biscotti (S$4.90 for 100g). It came as a delightful surprise because we are generally not big fans of fruit cakes. Other than making us fruit cake converts, the biscotti was so good, we are actually fans now!
