Kinki Restaurant + Bar is back after a major revamp and we are loving it more than ever! How we’ve missed a great meal at Kinki Restaurant + Bar and our recent trip back after their revamp reminds us of just why they are one of the most popular waterfront restaurants in Singapore.

Vibrant and bold, Kinki Restaurant + Bar offers an eclectic experience of modern Japanese food and beverages that defy traditions. Nothing here is basic; it seems like the restaurant’s quest to push culinary boundaries and to wow you even with the most unassuming of dishes.

With Kinki Restaurant + Bar being one of the swankiest dining spots in the Marina Bay area, and an exhilarating and creative menu, kick off your shoes, knock backsome tipples and have a marvellous evening at this bold Japanese fusion restaurant and bar.

Enjoy 15% off a la carte items when you pay with your Mastercard® at Kinki Restaurant + Bar.

Your Kinki experience begins right when you take the lift up to the restaurant. The arrival lobby is decked out in vinyl prints featuring retro Japanese-inspired patterns stitched into a dizzying collage, the prints evokes Kintsugi, the old Japanese art of mending broken pottery by joining the fragments with capillaries of gold and it instantly whisks you away into another world away from reality

When the lift door opens, be greeted with a sexy entranceway clad in colour-changing LED lights, and murals that flow around the corners of the restaurant. There is an open-kitchen concrete top counter, and divider grills are put in place to close off certain sections of the restaurant for a more private dining experience.

One of the best rooftop bars in Singapore, head up to the 3rd floor to Kinki Rooftop Bar. It is the perfect place to unwind with Asian-inspired cocktails and bar bites before heading down to the main restaurant for an epic dinner.

Known for its Asian-inspired cocktails, Kinki Restaurant + Bar takes its cocktails and drinks seriously.

There is a comprehensive selection of Japanese sake, umeshu, shochu, spirits, and handcrafted classic cocktails with a Kinki twist. The highlights include the Aurora Polaris from the ‘Kinki Rockstar’ menu as well as the new Tears of The Geisha and Gin Assam Boi from the ‘Geisha’s Choice’ menu.

HIGH ROLLER WAGYU DON

Let’s dive straight into our favourite dish. Kinki Restaurant + Bar’s High Roller Wagyu Don (S$98) is the epitome of luxury.

The Ohmi A4 Wagyu—the finest wagyu from Shiga prefecture in Japan—is seared to perfection on a charcoal grill. Then, the chef drizzles a special sauce on the decadent Ohmi A4 Wagyu slices before adding Hokkaido Uni, Ikura, shaved summer black truffle, and onsen egg.

This is one of the best wagyu donburi you can get in Singapore.

UNAGI CLAYPOT

Previously a chef’s special only served on occasion for regulars in the know, the Unagi Claypot has been upgraded to a permanent spot from its cameo role last year, and it is a must-try dish at Kinki Restaurant + Bar.

Rice is fried with chopped Japanese unagi before it is finished in the claypot, topped with more unagi slathered with an addictive house-made unagi sauce.

Think of this as a Japanese claypot rice, but better. It was so good that we finished every grain of rice.

KICKASS CHIRASHI DON

Not all Chirashi Dons are created equal. Kinki Restaurant + Bar’s Kickass Chirashi Don (S$78) comes with a mixture of the freshest sashimi and it is elevated to the next level with the addition of shaved black truffles and Hokkaido uni.

We call this happiness in a bowl.

AC/DC DYNAMITE SUSHI ROLL

Take a look at Kinki Restaurant + Bar’s menu and in one glance, you’ll notice they are really proud of their maki rolls. There is an entire page dedicated to maki rolls, and the combinations are interesting! Totally not what you would expect of traditional sushi rolls, but nothing too exotic that you won’t want to try.

Like its name “Alternating Current/ Direct Current”, the AC/DC Dynamite Sushi Roll (S$22) is power-packed with raw energy and is a deep-fried roll that combines mixed fried seafood and fresh raw seafood, topped with a fiery sriracha sweet soy. Sounds complicated? Not at all; simply rock and roll with this AC/DC Dynamite Sushi Roll that is multi-textural yet well-balanced in terms of flavours.

CORN DUO

At a place like Kinki where everyone gallivants over food and drinks, small plates are a must to order. Start your meal with appetisers first; go slow and easy on the night.

The newest kid on the block, try out the Corn Duo (S$16). It is quite possibly the best corn dish we’ve tried in recent years. Who would have thought that baby corn would be this tasty?!

Boasting a smoky aroma, these roasted baby corn are topped with furikake and sriracha mayo. The saltiness from the furikake and slightly spicy complements the sweetness of the corn so well, and the side of yellow corn puree gives the appetiser an additional textural dimension.

GRILLED SQUID CHIMICHURRI

You have to order something from the Grill menu to share too. The Grilled Squid Chimichurri (S$32) is a nice charcoal-grilled option if you are looking for something to go with your drinks.

Other grill options include Mentaiko Sea Prawn (S$30) and Pomegranate Miso Black Cod (S$34). If you are in the mood to splurge, there’s the Ohmi Wagyu Houba-Yaki (S$90)—Ohmi A4 wagyu striploin chargrilled with mixed mushrooms.

Besides the fantastic a la carte selections, we will let you in on a really good deal. Kinki Restaurant + Bar’s Bottomless Brunch (S$68 on Saturdays and Public Holidays) offers unlimited a la carte servings of sushi, sashimi, maki, hot and cold Japanese favourites, and desserts. You can also choose to top it up with free-flow beer, sake, prosecco or shochu at only S$35.

Unless you’re armed with a fail-proof list of romantic restaurants to take your other half on special occasions, a date night out in celebration of a milestone would, more often than not, have you racking your brains on where to go for a meal.

Singapore is a city that surely doesn’t fall short of romantic restaurants and if you are looking to add another restaurant to your list of where to take bae, Salt Grill & Sky Bar would be it.

Located on the 55th storey of ION Orchard, Salt Grill & Sky Bar offers diners an unobstructed bird eye’s view of the city and an elegant dining atmosphere, making it an ideal restaurant no matter if you’re looking for a sensuous spot to impress your first date or a charming restaurant to spoil bae.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="width: 336px; height: 280px;"></ins>//

Floor-to-ceiling glass windows surround the restaurant, granting guests a stunning panoramic vista of the city from day through night.

The kitchen is helmed by Australian born and bred Head Chef Jake Kowalewski, who strictly utilises only the best Australian produce in a clean and simple manner. On the menu, you can expect a range of Asian classics that are derived from these ingredients.

Salt Grill & Sky Bar offers a neat range of tantalising appetisers for you to kick-start your meal on the right note. The Geraldton Kingfish (S$31++) is one that is set to impress with the complexity of flavours.

Each slice of kingfish boasts a firm texture and a clean flavour. Served with Yarra Valley salmon pearl, avocado cream, white soy and herb oil on the side, these elements only serve to bring out the umami goodness of the dish.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="width: 336px; height: 280px;"></ins>//

If you’re a fan of beef, Salt Grill & Sky Bar definitely will not disappoint. Priding themselves on serving premium Australian beef, they offer a variety of cuts that will impress diners old and new.

The Westholme Wagyu Flat Iron (S$76++) came served with a pink-hued interior. Biting in, the explosion of flavours left us in total awe—incredibly tender, succulent and boasting intense flavours, this dish struck all the right chords in terms of taste and texture.

Other options include the Gippsland O’conner Pasture Fed Tenderloin (S$88++) and the Westhome Wagyu Rump Cap (S$69++).

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="width: 336px; height: 280px;"></ins>//

What better way to round off your meal than on a sweet note?

Taking on a contemporary spin to the traditional Malay pastry, the Ondeh Ondeh ‘Lamington’ Pandan Chocolate Mousse (S$19++) encompasses the same flavours you would get in the traditional pastry but in a modern form.

Sitting atop coconut snow and sponge is a ball of pandan mousse. Smooth, creamy and luscious, we appreciated how it wasn’t overly sweet. Hidden within the pandan mousse lies a helping of lava gula Melaka caramel, which gives the dessert an extra oomph of sweetness.

It is unheard of to skip their Flame Grilled Pork Jowl with Thai Dip (S$15.80) because the succulent pork slices are grilled to perfection and come with a slightly charred exterior that goes really well with the lean meat.

Another classic dish that is worthy of praises includes the Pineapple Tom Yum soup served in Husk (S$16.80). Diners get to drink it straight from a pineapple husk and we’ve got to say, this is the most aesthetically-pleasing tom yum soup we have ever seen so far! Other noteworthy dishes are the Thai Soufflé Steamed Egg (S$10.80) and Pineapple Sang Som (S$26.80).

#4 GREENWOOD FISH MARKET

The chic seafood restaurant is the ideal social gathering spot for groups of friends and is also a romantic dining destination for couples too. We always enjoy a visit to Greenwood Fish Market because of the plethora of fresh seafood that is available on their menu.

Look forward to the upcoming 6th World Oyster Festival from 1st to 31st July where you get to sample on different species of oysters (prices vary according to species of oysters) that are sourced from all over the world—Mary Points, Ostra Regal and Barron Points are just some to name. Boy, we had such a good time slurping them all up and comparing the differences in taste. Yes, each variety of oyster has their own unique identity!

Otherwise, opt for the Rock Lobster Thermidor (S$69.95) if you are up for something more premium—the luscious meat was covered in a blanket of brandy cream sauce topped with cheese before it is baked in the oven till golden brown. Another excellent option is the Hot Smoked Ocean Trout (S$35.95) which came with Portobello mushroom confit and grilled lettuce.

#5 MISKA CAFÉ

With tables that come with colourful squared tiles and an al fresco dining area, Miska Café emits cheerful and laid-back vibes that encourage you to stay on for a tipple or more.

Modern mediterranean food is what Miska Café specialises in and their menu boasts a mixture of Greek, Turkish and Middle Eastern food. Prepare yourself for some fresh produce, rich spices and exotic flavours that are uncommon on our tiny island.

We recommend the Lamb Kofta Wrap (S$22) for the hearty eaters as the wraps that are served to you are filled with generous portions of grilled marinated lamb, thinly sliced onions, romaine lettuce, tomato slices, tzatziki sauce and parsley. All wraps come with your choice of side salad or fries.

New on the menu is the Shrimp Shakshouka (S$26), which is essentially oven-baked eggs with roasted stewed tomato, fetacheese, chilli peppers, onion and a generous serving of shrimps. If not, another typical Mediterranean option is the Chicken Sanga (S$18.50) and it features breaded chicken, tomato chutney and machego cheese in between ciabatta bread.

Some dishes to try are the Cold Pasta (S$11), Pan-Seared Hokkaido Sea Scallop (S$14), Smoked Roast Pork (S$12) and Deep-Fried Camembert Cheese (S$13) before rounding your meal with the refreshing Red Wine Poached Pear with Berry Compote (S$15) and Cream Cheese Panna Cotta with Watermelon Freeze (S$13).

Decked out in a calm oasis of blue and white interior, walking into the restaurant is as if you are walking along the coastline of Mykonos.

There is no better way to discover Greece than through its gastronomy and at Mykonos On The Bay, you can be assured that every dish is prepared with utmost precision by following traditional Greek cooking techniques.

If you are just looking for some light bites to go along with drinks, their Ceviche de Gambas (S$18)—essentially Tiger prawns served with corn tortilla chips—and Carpaccio de Pulpo (octopus carpaccio, S$18) are the top picks on their tapas menu.

Their hand-rolled NY bagels are obviously the best sellers on the menu and you can either choose to personalise your own bagel with various toppings or go for scrumptious options such as The New Yorker (S$8) and The Central Park (S$14). These bagels come with different types of cream cheese and sides such as salmon and eggs—talk about a breakfast fit for kings.

Barnacles at Customs House is a popular after-work haunt that offers a medley of gourmet grub as well as a stellar view of the Marina Bay skyline. When the sun begins to set and the lights from the surrounding buildings begin to illuminate the night sky, there truly is nothing grander to marvel at.

Besides the awesome view, here is where diners can indulge in both inventive cocktails and top-notch fare. Choose your poison from an eclectic range of beers from around the world, signature cocktails, and a stunning selection of gin.

Top the experience off with Barnacles’ array of mouthwatering grub that comes either as full-on mains or small plates. Whatever it is you fancy, just know that when it comes to food, Barnacles is not one to skimp on flavour.

A properly balanced plate, the Parma Ham & Spinach Salad (S$18++) comprised salty and fatty qualities courtesy of the thick slithers of Parma ham, feta cheese and pine nuts as well as bright and subtly sweet notes from the balsamic dressing and dried cranberries.

Essentially an oversized gnocchi, what we loved about the Potato Mochi with Camembert Cheese (S$14++)—besides its chewy texture—was the generous amount of melty camembert cheese that comes oozing out upon each bite.

Crispy on the outside with all that creamy goodness inside, this is hands down one of the best things you could ever put into your gob.

For a Middle-Eastern-inspired flavour trip, we recommend trying the Hummus with Cucumber and Crostini (S$14++). Served with a crispy crostini instead of the usual pita bread, what really impressed us was the contrast in textures.

Arriving at your table hot, filled with warm spices and a generous drizzle of olive oil, the hummus really makes for a solid starter.

Conventional fries really need to buck up with Barnacles’ outstanding Burdock Sticks With Sour Cream (S$16++). Perhaps one of the most underrated vegetables around, a burdock is essentially the root taken from the burdock plant and if you are aching to know, it tastes like a cross between an asparagus and an eggplant.

Deep-fried till crispy, the burdock goes beautifully well with the sour cream it comes served with.

Although nothing that far off compared to the many that we have tried, the Truffle Fries (S$14++) served here does come with a herbed salt that that balances out the heavier parmesan cheese really well.
