If a yuletide celebration does not mean turkeys and log cakes, then Mitzo’s Holiday Champagne Brunch should tempt you.

If you are searching for an elegant venue to spend Christmas Day in or to usher into 2017, we highly recommend our all-time favourite Chinese restaurant and it is none other than Mitzo Restaurant & Bar at Grand Park Orchard.

Most of you are already familiar with Mitzo’s spectacular Weekend Dim Sum Brunch—where you can indulge in seafood supreme dishes and unlimited portions of gourmet dim sum and an option of free-flow champagne, selected cocktails, wines and beer. It is truly the Holy Grail of Chinese fine dining!

Say hello to Mitzo’s Holiday Champagne Brunch—which is essentially an amplified version of the current Weekend Dim Sum Brunch this festive. This Champagne Brunch features over 40 types of dishes and it is one luxurious treat you deserve.

If you have never dined at Mitzo before, it is about time you give this stellar establishment a shot. Trust us, you will only regret not visiting Mitzo earlier.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

The fancy Chinese restaurant is helmed by Executive Head Chef Nicky Ng, whose previous stints include the honourable role of Executive Chef de Cuisine at Michelin-starred restaurant Hakkasan in New York City.

The Holiday Champagne Brunch is available from 11.30am to 2.30pm on the following dates: 24, 25, 31 Dec 2016 and 01 Jan 2017.

This 3-hour feast boasts an impressive selection of sweet and savoury items. There are over 40 varieties, so be prepared to be beyond spoilt for choice.

A few dishes are making an appearance exclusively for this holiday brunch only, namely Crispy Soft Shell Crab with Curry Floss, Deep-fried Lobster Claw wrapped with Salted Egg Puff, Steamed Scallop in Hollandaise Sauce and more.

“Mitzo’s Holiday Champagne Brunch offers 40 varieties of sweet and savoury dishes. Indulge in seafood supreme dishes, gourmet dim sum and unlimited portions of Mitzo’s Special Barbecue Pork.”

Most epicureans may argue that seafood should always be served as is, but Mitzo’s deep-fried crustaceans might just change your mind about that.

Kudos to the A-team for achieving the impossible; the soft shell crab and lobster claw remains oh-so-tender despite being deep-fried. The curry floss and salted egg puff are incredibly light and make it easy to chomp through.

Mitzo is renowned for their Special Barbecue Pork and guess what? This signature dish is still part of the Holiday Champagne Brunch. FREE-FLOW, GUYS.

We still vividly recall our very first time savouring this divine char siew; fork-tender roasted pork coated with a crisp caramel which melts in your mouth. We had it way too many times, and if any, we are only loving it more and more.

The spread also includes Mitzo’s specialty roasts, wok dishes, a plethora of supreme seafood delights and the usual handcrafted dim sum such as charcoal liu sha baos and royal shrimp dumplings.

This all-you-can-eat fiesta costs S$88++ per adult and the price includes a choice of one glass of beer, champagne or wine.

While the cocktail and dim sum pairing might sound strange to first-timers, we have learnt to relish this intriguing concept. This unorthodox combination sure does grow on us like what a cheese and wine pairing does!

Which brings to our next point—top up S$60++ to enjoy free flow beers, champagne, wines and artisanal cocktails.

Should buffets not entice you, perhaps you may want to consider the two other 5-course Festive Set Menus instead. The Festive Merriment I and Festive Merriment II are priced at S$88++ and S$118++ per pax respectively.

There is a nominal top-up of S$30++ for two cocktails.

The Festive Merriment I Set showcases the Festive Steamed Dim Sum Platter (which comprises Steamed Lobster Har Gow, Scallop Dumpling and Chicken Dumpling topped with Shaved Truffles), Double-boiled Maka with Clam and Chicken, Braised Abalone and Asparagus King Prawn Skewers, Steamed Rice served with Truffle Wagyu Beef and Champagne Jelly.

On the other hand, Festive Merriment II includes a Festive Platter (which consists of Mitzo Special Barbecued Pork and Crispy Soft Shell Crab wrapped with Salted Egg Charcoal Puff), Double-boiled Abalone Soup with Winter Melon, Pork Ribs and Lotus Leaf, Steamed Live Boston Lobster, Poached Noodles topped with Pork Ribs and Champagne Jelly.

The oriental Champagne Jelly dessert is served in a gorgeous spherical glass, and contains refreshing rose tea crush and lychee caviar that explodes instantaneously in your mouth and topped off with edible flowers; no less!

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Yes, for the price you pay, it includes one bamboo clam dish, one live lobster dish and an abalone dish each. Such supreme dishes would usually cost a bomb in seafood restaurants; you know that. Just think about the standalone value of these three dishes that you are entitled to in the Weekend Brunch!

Choose your desired way of cooking.

For the bamboo clams, the range to select from are Steamed Bamboo Clam with Minced Garlic in Soya, Steamed Bamboo Clam with Enoki Mushroom in Spicy Peanut Sauce and Steamed Bamboo Clam with Preserved Vegetables in Soya.

We highly recommend the former, which is the classic way bamboo clams are commonly prepared in local seafood restaurants. The sweetness of the clam is enhanced with the fragrance from the soy sauce and garlic.

You can choose the way your lobster is cooked as well – Deep-Fried Lobster coated with Truffle Peanut Sauce, Baked Lobster with Creamy Lemon and Cheese, and Spicy Chilli Lobster Served with Bun.

The spicy lobster is our pick, for its tangy flavours. The bun (served separately on the side) is for you to wipe up all the remaining sauce.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Last but not least, for the Supreme Specialty Dishes, you get an abalone dish. Choose from Abalone Truffles Rice, Stir-Fried XO Abalone with Asparagus and Braised Abalone with Tofu.

SPECIALTY ROAST MEATS

Save some tummy space for Mitzo’s acclaimed roast meats. While the Crispy Pork Belly with Bun is flavourful and tasty, we cannot miss the Mitzo Special Barbecued Pork. The outer caramelised crust that encased the pork meat is crispy and sweet, and the meat is so tender it melts in your mouth.

If you haven’t tried Mitzo’s Special Barbecued Pork, you haven’t lived. And guys, it’s free flow in the Weekend Brunch. We repeat – FREE FLOW!

ARTISANAL DIM SUM

Mitzo’s dim sum selection is among the top reasons why their brunch is so popular, simply because you get to pick from a huge variety of handmade dim sum. One thing Mitzo does really well is to beautify their dim sums.

A simple Har Gow (Royal Shrimp Dumpling) is naturally coloured with purple radish for flair, and a creamy custard bun has a charcoal outlook with an edible gold-embossed moon on top.

Artisanal dim sum is just about right, and once again, everything’s free flow so you should totally eat to your heart’s content because it’s the weekend!

And sure, they taste as good – if not better than they look.

Check out this Escargot Cheese Puff which is newly introduced to Mitzo’s weekend brunch menu.. It is a little savoury treat that the kids are bound to love. Who would have guessed that snails could look this cute!

CANTONESE SOUPS & WOK DISHES

When a Cantonese chef cooks for you, of course you have to ask him for his Double Boiled Soup of The Day. The Cantonese do their soups really well, and Mitzo is no exception. Nourishing broths that have been double boiled for hours with premium ingredients, the Weekend Brunch includes unlimited servings of the Soup of The Day that we always look forward to. The Braised Abalone Strips & Bamboo Pith Soup is for those who prefer soups with a thicker consistency.

Some other wok dishes to love are the Stir-Fried Scallop with Egg White & Fresh Milk and Crispy Duck Roll.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

And the Braised Truffles Pork Ball – a Cantonese-style pork ball infused with truffle – is one surprising dish. Hand-beaten meat balls are prepared fresh daily, and the truffle adds fragrance that cuts through the strong meaty smell.

While most people stay away from the carb-loaded dishes that fill one up fast, we actually recommend trying the Braised Duck Pulled Noodles. You can always order a portion and share it with your dining partners. The duck is fork-tender and the chefs nailed it with the sauce and well-cooked la-mian.

SWEET TREATS TO END OFF YOUR MEAL

While the elegant Cantonese desserts are prepared with finesse, let’s not talk about anything else except the Hokkaido Milk Cheese Tart. The chefs totally won us over with this new addition to the revamped menu!

Little yellow tarts to end off your meal is second to none. Savoury milky cheese custard encased in buttery tart shells; melty and flowy. How to not love these?

Eat all you can? Yes, sure. Too easy.

Mitzo also has a specialised cocktail bar where you can expect an impressive range of artisanal and bespoke cocktails, including the classic Shisho Mojito, vodka-based Blue Moon and the pretty gin-based Pink Fashioned.

Nothing on the menu you fancy? No worries. Just tell the bartender your preference and he will create a concoction specially for you! Mitzo spares no effort in pampering you.

KID’S PLAYROOM AT MITZO

Bringing the littlies out to brunch with you? You can just sit back and indulge as Mitzo keeps your little ones entertained in a dedicated kid’s playroom, complete with cartoons, cushioned seats, and a selection of engaging & fun-filled activities.

Have you realised that Chinese New Year (CNY) is only a mere few weeks away? It is scary how time flies, but we are only thankful that the upcoming festive public holiday means yet another opportunity to spend time with our loved ones.

And of course, we have to profess our love for Mitzo, right? It has always been one of our favourite dining destinations for Chinese gourmet and we are all ecstatic about the scrumptious festive sets, CNY-themed cocktails and takeouts specially for the upcoming Chinese New Year at this sexy Chinese restaurant.

Mitzo’s irresistibly groundbreaking renditions of Chinese classics are far from ordinary, yet by no means stray away from traditional practices. The CNY specials will all be available from 23 Jan 2016 to 22 Feb 2016 for both lunch and dinner.

Quote “ladyironchef” and book by 20 Jan 2016 to enjoy 15% off (*not valid for 07 Feb 2016) all set menus and goodies at Mitzo.

By tradition, Lunar New Year is incomplete until everyone has tossed the yusheng. Celebrated Chef Nicky Ng – previously the head chef at Michelin-starred Hakkasan New York – and his A-team have created a unique reinterpretation of the classic Lo Hei.

The unexpected ingredients are unexpected choices for yusheng, especially the burst-in-your-mouth lychee caviars and crispy lotus root chips.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Mitzo’s Pearls of Prosperity Kingfish Yusheng (regular – S$68++, large – S$108++) is truly one of a kind. It uses superbly fresh Japanese Kanpachi Kingfish sashimi that is both sweet and rich in flavour and everything is plated so gorgeously.

A homemade savoury Chu Hou sauce which comprises garlic, ginger, sesame seeds, spices and soybeans is then drizzled all over, ready for you to toss to prosperity. You would have noticed that crispy lotus roots, fried salmon skin and toasted pistachos are too used to give the overall dish an extra crunch. Note that a regular portion can feed 4 to 5 guests, while the large portion is great for 10 pax.

If any of your dining companions are vegetarian or unfortunately allergic to seafood, Mitzo has a meat-free option. Bouncy Konnyaku jelly – which has an uncanny resemblance to the fish slices in terms of texture and appearance - is used to replace raw fish slices.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

The refreshing Prosperity Toss is characterised by a plethora of colourful fresh fruits such as mango, rock melon, and honeydew – just to name a few.

Have your chopsticks ready? Dig in and start exchanging well wishes!

The Superior Fortune Pot (S$338++) aka Pen Cai is an extravagant delicacy worth splurging on. Traditionally, this casserole-like basin is served to the Emperor, hence symbolic of wealth and prosperity. The piping hot bowl – filled with over 10 types of luxurious ingredients such as crispy roast pork belly, sea cucumbers, fish maw, premium abalone and more – is a must-eat during Chinese New Year. Portions are huge, and no less satisfying.

And at Mitzo, the star is definitely the Superior Lobster Fortune Pot (S$398++) – where generous amounts of succulent lobsters cooked in Mao Tai Chinese liquor are added on top of the already-sumptuous spread in the basin.

Mitzo’s Chinese New Year set menus are aplenty, too. The servings cater to a small group of four to a group of ten; prices start from S$118++ per pax to S$1,288++ per table, and every menu features different highlights and special creations, of which the platter of handcrafted steamed and fried nian gao is our favourite!

Nian gao is a classic CNY dish of sticky cake that symbolises good luck and the welcoming of a ‘higher year’.

Still need more recommendations?

We say you cannot skip Mitzo’s two signatures and everyone’s favourites – the Special Barbeque Pork (S$18++) and Black Truffle Crispy Roast Duck (S$38++). These two items are permanently available at Mitzo, even during the Chinese New Year period. We have been raving endlessly about them since one first visit to Mitzo for an obvious reason – they are beyond divine.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Honestly? Best charsiew in Singapore. And as if roast duck isn’t amazing enough, we have black truffle sauce to up the game; roast ducks are never the same again after you’ve had this rendition.

Chinese New Year or not, we go back to Mitzo for these two dishes.

While the consumption of cocktails is not a typical affair during the Lunar New Year, Mitzo has concocted two Asian cocktails made with oriental ingredients that signify prosperity, because they know these will get to your hearts.

The Mandarin Mojito (S$20++) and the Spring Elixir (S$20++) are what you should look out for. The former is a interpretations of the ubiquitous Mojito, where it is prepared with Angostura bitters, apricot liqueur, Havana Club rum and mandarins, while the latter is a red date blend infused with gin, Campari, goji berry syrup, honey dates and red vermouth.

East-meets-West tipples that were interestingly inspired by various symbolic meanings, we can get used to eating yusheng with cocktails.

Here’s a toast to a prosperous new year!

If you are tempted by Mitzo’s various festive offerings but wish to spend the occasion at home, takeaways are available for Pearls of Prosperity Kingfish Yusheng (regular – S$68+, large – S$108+), Superior Fortune Pot (regular – S$338+, large – S$628+), Superior Lobster Fortune Pot (regular – S$398+, large – S$688+) and Homemade Koi Fish Nian Gao (S$28+).

Remember to quote “ladyironchef” and book by 20 Jan 2016 to enjoy 15% off (*not valid for 07 Feb 2016) all set menus and goodies.
