Opened by the same team behind Simplicité by Fresh Fruits Lab, Platform 1094 is a wizard-themed cafe in Singapore that serves a range of dishes and drinks with a magical experience.

Escape from the daily grind and step inside Platform 1094 and you will be transported to a magical world to live out your wizard fantasies. We can do with a little craziness and imagination sometimes.

WHERE YOUR WIZARD DREAMS COME TRUE

From the mystical ambience which is decorated with antiques, books, chandelier, hanging antelope heads, to the cosy fireplace, Platform 1094 looks like the movie set in your favourite wizard movies.

There is even a mini wardrobe for you to play dress-up. Put on the wizard robe, wear a pointed hat, choose your favourite wand, wear a pair of round spectacles and pose for a shot at the photo spot next to the fireplace.

MAINS WITH GENEROUS PORTIONS

From hearty brunch dishes (available on weekends from 11am – 3pm & PH), to main courses which come in a generous portion, the food at Platform 1094 is value-for-money and there are lots of choices to pick from.

The meat lovers can go for Charing Cross Road Ribeye (S$28), a 200g Angus beef ribeye that comes with grilled corn, broccoli, onion and mashed beetroot with a brown sauce on the side. This is truly a value-for-money dish for the portion.

Get your cameras ready for the Fireball Whiskey Half-Chicken (S$22) which is cooked in fire right before your eyes. One for the ‘Gram, guys.

We also highly recommend their Double Da Bomb Burger (S$19) and Fish & Chips (S$19).

For S$19, you get a huge piece of beer-battered pacific dory fried to a golden perfection. As if the generous serving is not filling enough, it comes with a green salad tossed in balsamic dressing, a mountain of fries and home-made tartare sauce.

The Double Da Bomb Burger features a juicy and huge double ground beef patty, cheddar cheese, sliced tomato, romaine lettuce, grilled bacon and sunny side-up egg. It is served with fries and green salad.

And moving on to the highlight of your dining experience at Platform 1094. The desserts and beverages are extraordinary and they are not like the usual items at a regular cafe.

MR LICH’S FLAMING BREW

You’d have seen this on your social media timeline before. Mr Lich’s Flaming Brew (S$16) is the bestselling drink at Platform 1094, and for a good reason.

The server will prepare the magic potion and put up a show at your table by torching Bacardi and pouring it into Blue Curacao liquor. Watch the magic unfold as you shake in cinnamon powder!

Apart from Mr Lich’s Flaming Brew, Platform 1094 has an awesome Happy Hour promotion for their alcoholic beverages. A pint of Asahi draught beer is only S$10, while you can get a glass of house wine at S$12. Who said this place is only for kids? The adults can be happy here, too!

WIZARD-THEMED DESSERTS

End off your meal with pretty and photogenic desserts that are baked by their in-house bakery, Elements. Their pastries and bakes are really good, we don’t remember having anything mediocre off the sweets menu.

Platform 1094′s signature dessert is the Sweet Treats of the Wizardry World (S$15) which comes with dark chocolate mousse on chocolate sponge. The chocolate dessert is beautifully plated and dusted with edible gold and it looks like a real spellbook with a magic wand.

The Golden Wing (S$15) is a dessert which consists of Mango and milk chocolate mousse with vanilla sponge cake.

WIZARD-THEMED AFTERNOON TEA

For an afternoon tea experience that will not break the bank, try Platform 1094′s Enchanted Afternoon Tea (S$55++, serves 2) which is available from 2pm to 6pm daily.

Enjoy a leisure wizard-themed afternoon tea with a selection of sweets, savouries and drinks that are inspired by your favourite wizard novels and movies. Think Chocolate Frogs, Owl Hootdoo Macarons and magic potions.

A hidden gem situated in the residential area of MacPherson is Wishes Cafe, selling creamy gelatos and fluffy waffles. The charming little cafe looked unsuspecting from the outside, standing next to a convenience store and a kopitiam while the elderly milled about with their groceries and caught up over their morning kopi.

We were welcomed by the comfy-looking chairs and beautiful sakura decorations that hung from the ceiling. A very Instagram-worthy cafe indeed, the food and beverages here did not disappoint either, whether in taste or presentation.

Wishes Cafe offers several unique gelato flavours including Avocado, Thai Milk Tea, Mint Tea, Peary Ginger, and Kumquat Sorbet.

We decided to order a single scoop of Matcha Gelato on their Waffle Cone (S$4.50), a premium flavour on their menu. The matcha flavour of the gelato was perfect, not too overpowering but it still left a pleasant earthy aftertaste. The gelato was delectably creamy and smooth, complementing the roasted flavour of the green tea. We dare say that the matcha gelato here could compete with the other big names in Singapore.

Buttermilk waffles seem to be all the craze, so we ordered Wishes Cafe’s Crispy Buttermilk Waffles with a scoop of their Brownie Gelato (S$8). You can never go wrong with a waffle and gelato pairing, and Wishes Cafe executed theirs perfectly.

Although the buttermilk waffles were not as crispy as we would have liked, the waffles were still deliciously dense yet pillowy. The warmth of the waffles contrasted nicely with the brownie gelato, which definitely tasted like a fudgy, chocolatey brownie.

Wishes Cafe also serves several mains and sides, including Baked Mid Wings (S$5.80 for 6 pieces) in Mala or Sticky Orange flavour. Of course, we had to order the Mala flavour. The mid wings were not too oily or spicy, it had a bit of heat and we could taste the flavour of the Sichuan spices.

We paired our order with a Kopi (S$1.80), which came to us served in a traditional saucer and cup, just like in a kopitiam, along with several pieces of everyone’s favourite local snack, the ice gem biscuits.

Nestled amongst the HDBs in MacPherson, Wishes Cafe offers creamy gelatos and highly Instagrammable sweet treats we know we definitely will come back for!
