If there’s anything that Singaporeans love, it has got to be spicy food.

Although there’s plenty of options to choose from when you need a quick fiery fix—be it the famous Korean Samyang Spicy noodles or Ri Ri Hong’s mala bowls—there’s nothing quite like America’s classic buffalo wings. For the uninitiated, this dish has absolutely nothing to do with buffalos, but rather it’s the classic favourite fried chicken wings (from Buffalo, New York) drenched in hot sauce served alongside blue cheese dip and celery sticks.

If that sounds like a challenge for you, here’s our list of the best places to get buffalo wings in Singapore so hot you’d want to likely suffer from PTSD. Don’t be so quick to dismiss those sticks of celery. Trust us, you’ll need it.

HANDLEBAR

The road-loving free-wheeling spirit of riders runs through the veins of this biker-themed restaurant. The food takes its cue from the bikers, with a little refinement in presentation and screams badass in all its rawest form.

Their addictive Cocaine Wings will have you perspiring regardless of spice level you choose, so why not try their Sudden Death Wings while you’re at it too?

10 Lock Road

HOOTERS

There’s more to Hooters than just pairs of waitresses with decent assets, believe it or not. They have a dedicated menu just for their buffalo wings for you to choose from, though it’s probably worth keeping in mind that their recipe is tailored to suit the palates of Westerners, meaning their wings are more tangy than spicy.

Still, though, it makes for a gentler introduction to buffalo wings.

Ask anyone about Singapore’s best buffalo wings and they’ll direct you to Jerry’s Barbeque And Grill. They offer different levels of spice to cater to everyone, though if you’re feeling up to the challenge, their Level 6 Jerry’s Insanity would bring even a grown man to tears—it’s only fair that we warn you.

One bite is all it tastes for everyone to hiss in pain, before taking another bite because it’s just that addictive. Aptly named Cocaine Wings – Level: Death, it’ll make your life flash before your eyes.

OVEREASY

Priding themselves on glorious comfort food, Overeasy resembles your typical Hollywood American diner with their huge greasy burgers and thick glorious milkshakes. Of course, they serve tongue-burning Spicy Buffalo Wings, and though it’s off menu, you can most definitely order a Level 10.

If you dare, that is. And why stop there? Grab some friends and order their Spicy Wing Roulette, there’s bound to be lots of laughter found in that.

PONG SINGAPORE

On nights where you’re knocking back one too many beers, it will probably be a good idea to offset all the excess alcohol with something with a little heat. Which is why more often than not, bars would typically have some form of spicy wings.

Over at PONG Singapore, you absolutely have to order a plate of their Devil’s Wings (S$12 nett). Every wing boasts a fiery kick with a stickily sweet and savoury flavour.

ROYZ ET VOUZ

This is, perhaps, the best place to bring any particularly confident friend to. Watch as they demolish the first wing and claim that it’s no big deal, only to start hissing and huffing in pain as they reach the third one with tears in their eyes.

Royz Et Vouz’s Buffalo Wings would definitely bring down even the toughest of all competitors.

SOUTHWEST TAVERN

Located right smack in the middle of Clementi and Jurong East is Southwest Tavern, serving up the deadliest Suicide Wings. Unlike most other places, they leave no room for you to hide by offering only one single spice level made with the deadly Jolokia Pepper, also known as Ghost Pepper, so we do recommend preparing not just your tongue but your stomach too.

8 Boon Lay Way

SPRUCE

While most head to Spruce for a good Sunday afternoon brunch, it’s hard to leave without giving their Devil Wings a try. Their special chilli sauce would be a challenge even for the hardiest of spice daredevils, though if you’d like something less likely to destroy your toilet, their Hot Wings are a good option to have too.

260 Upper Bukit Timah Road
#01-01
Singapore 588190

WINGSBAR

As you’d expect from their name, Wingsbar serves all things wings, with their chicken wing menu alone offering 10 different flavours. Since you’re looking at this list, the one you’d want to have is definitely their Spitfire flavour, which would make you (metaphorically) spit fire.

If you have a bigger company, The Flying Tiger offers a similar sweating experience too, just less intensive.

3D River Valley Road #01-02

WINGSTOP

As America’s number 1 chicken wing restaurant chain, it would a shame for it not to be on this list. Their Atomic Wings are generously coated in Habanero pepper sauce, and while it might not be the spiciest this list has to offer, don’t underestimate the damage it can do to your taste buds and your pride.

It would seem logical to conclude that chicken, or more specifically, fried chicken, is one of the best forms of comfort food around. Practically every culture has their own version of it—from the Koreans, the Americans and even Singaporeans.

Unless for health reasons (or dietary restrictions), it’s practically impossible to find anyone who dislikes fried chicken. The golden crust, the sheer succulence enclosed within its crusty exterior and the sensation you get the second your teeth sink into and through the crunchy layer to expose all that piping-hot chicken deliciousness—is frankly all it takes to transport us to gastronomic heaven.

The very thought of fried chicken on an empty stomach, or even on a cold, rainy day is enough to arouse our appetites, but enough of that, here are 22 best places to get fried chicken in Singapore.

4FINGERS

Singapore’s answer to fast-food-style Korean fried chicken and quite possibly the reason why and how the trend started in the first place, 4Fingers is a popular chain where all you can live out all your fried chicken fantasies.

Crispy, sweet and downright addictive, their soy-garlic chicken is one fried chicken item that will have you licking bone to fingers to savour every morsel of flavour.

Ban Leong Wah Hoe Seafood is packed with hungry diners daily despite the lack of visibility from the main streets. Its slight inaccessibility is clearly not a deterrent as foodies would travel all the way to Casuarina to satisfy their fresh seafood cravings.

Besides their famous chilli crabs and black pepper crabs, the place is also renowned for their mouthwatering har cheong gai or prawn paste chicken; crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, this is one dish that you’ll see at almost every table.

The Chicken Burger is something of a treat that even the most discerning of palates can agree with. This humble stall debuted in the heartlands of Ang Mo Kio and eventually found its way among the big boys in town.

The deep-fried har cheong gai was bursting with robust and fragrant flavours such that every bite into the crispy wings was a delight. Upon biting into the chicken wing, the crackling skin broke apart to reveal succulent and tender meat. Dipping it into the chili at the side gave the dish another dimension of flavours. As sinful it may be, the wings were worth every calorie.

Decked out in Melbourne cafe-style decor, this unassuming and seeming pretentious eatery in Ann Siang Hill serves up excellent nasi lemak. The food here is by no means affordable, especially since a plate goes at S$12.80, but what you do get, however, is a slightly healthier version of the iconic dish.

The Coconut Club’s MSG-free Nasi Lemak entails a generous portion of fragrant coconut rice, cucumber slices, peanuts, dried anchovies, a fried egg, sambal sauce and the most important item of all—succulent chicken leg.

We are such big fans of TungLok Group’s arsenal of restaurants and one of the places we frequent most is TungLok Teahouse for their delectable, handcrafted dim sum. But steamed delights aside, what you really should go for is their Boxer Chicken—believe us, it’s worth every darn calorie.

Aside from their highly acclaimed chicken galbi, Yoogane in Singapore also features a myriad of stellar dishes such as Army Stew, Dosirak, and Korean-style fried chicken that features three lip-smacking flavours.

Yoogane’s chicken wings are marinated for a minimum of 12 hours to ensure that the flavour penetrates deep into the meat and is then coated with a light homemade batter. An alternative to consider should you wish to elevate your fried chicken experience is to opt for the Fried Chicken Cheese Pool that sees your chicken wings served atop a pool of warm, melty cheese.
