#15 CIVIL DEFENCE HERITAGE GALLERY

The Civil Defence Heritage Gallery is home to the history and heritage of our firefighters who risk their lives defending our people. Visitors will leave with a deeper appreciation for them.

The children will love the interactivity here that provides insight into the firefighters’ jobs, from rescue methods and using the relevant equipment to a vintage fire truck to climb onto. There is so much to discover about the brave firefighters and their history.

#16 VINTAGE CAMERA’S MUSEUM

With every one of our smartphones carrying a handy camera function these days, it is hard to imagine the extremely bulky and heavy cameras that were carried around when it was first invented.

Showcasing a splendid collection of film cameras, this is a cosy and charming museum that is perfect for film and photography enthusiasts to learn about the history and evolution of cameras from the friendly and passionate guide. The front entrance makes for an adorable photo opportunity as well.

#17 THE GEM MUSEUM

Discover the process of how gems from around the world go from being mined and extracted to how it is sold at the market.

The museum was started by Far East Gem Institute to offer an informative experience to visitors with the broad collection of gems from rubies and sapphires to tourmalines and spinels. Majority of the dazzling gems on display belong to the founder of Far East Gem Institute, Mr Tay Thye Sun.

#18 STPI CREATIVE WORKSHOP & GALLERY

STPI’s goal is to grow an appreciation for the innovative and experimental practice of print and paper art amongst visitors through the contemporary art exhibitions that they curate and collaborate with artists from around the globe.

Featuring exhibitions, art fairs and creative workshops programmes around different forms of print to even paper making, STPI offers an avant-garde and one-of-a-kind experience to the public.

Shrouded amongst the glitz and glamour of Resorts World Sentosa and clean beaches is a historical gem that has been preserved since the late 19th century.

Tucked away at the westernmost end of Sentosa is Fort Siloso, Singapore’s last remaining coastal fort. Its strategic position allowed soldiers during the war to have clear views of the waters and the surrounding area so that they could shoot down anything that was a threat.

Stepping into Fort Siloso is like taking a leap back in time; a time when life was much harder and peril-filled the streets of Singapore. By delving into Singapore’s rich history, we are reminded of the dark times that our forefathers endured. We also can understand how far Singapore has come since then and most importantly, we can learn to appreciate the safe and clean environment that we enjoy now.

GET A BIRD’S-EYE VIEW FROM FROM THE FORT SILOSO SKYWALK 

In recent years, the Fort Siloso Skywalk was also built to allow visitors to have a better self-guided experience around the area. Standing at 11-storeys high, the Skywalk presents panoramic views of the western part of Sentosa.

It’s the perfect place to admire Sentosa’s surrounding scenery as well as to take some amazing photos for the gram!

MARVEL AT THE PRESERVED GUNS AND MACHINERY

What we love about Fort Siloso is their collection of preserved guns and machinery from World War II.

It is pretty fascinating to see all these massive weapons that were used for war and it also shows how far technological advancements have come since then.

LEARN MORE ABOUT SINGAPORE’S RICH HISTORY 

There are six interactive zones that serve to educate visitors on events that took place during the war as well as post and pre-war moments. There are also exhibits that tell the tales of people who lived through the Japanese Occupation to allow visitors to better understand what it personally felt like going through the war.

A lot of effort had evidently been put into making the displays as realistic as possible. For instance, there were some eerily realistic wax figures of soldiers reenacting scenes from the war period.

Old and preserved structures of the fort remain and transport one back in time. It is truly quite an experience to walk the grounds that the people from the war walked on.

Singapore has no shortage of scenic places to take a stroll through whether for your health or plainly just to get out of the house. There are a plethora of gorgeous spots here to immerse yourself in nature, exercise, chill with your loved ones or just have some alone time.

But Singapore, contrary to what the media portrays, is far more than just Gardens By The Bay. One of the more picturesque ones out of the lot is the iconic Henderson Waves. The bridge stands 36 metres above Henderson Road and is Singapore’s highest pedestrian bridge, providing people with a spectacular view of Keppel Harbour.

MARVEL AT THE BREATHTAKING VIEWS FROM 36 METRES UP 

The sights from up here are truly remarkable and the scenic views are truly to die for!

Here, you get stunning, panoramic views of the surrounding area and beyond. It also makes for the perfect backdrop for some Instagram-worthy shots!

To see the bridge in a different light, you can also come down at night from 7pm to 2am to watch the bridge become illuminated with mesmerising LED lights that give it a lovely, soft glow.

TAKE A BREAK ALONG ONE OF HENDERSON WAVES “RIBS” 

The “ribs” of the bridge form hidden recesses that serve as resting points for visitors to have some shelter from the sun and to rest.

In light of its uniquely built shape, many people also carry out photoshoots here from professional shoots to your casual, everyday #ootd. Let your creative juices flow and allow the waves to boost your feed’s aesthetic!

EXPLORE MOUNT FABER OR TELOK BLANGAH PARK NEXT 

The bridge connects Mount Faber and Telok Blangah Hill Park, two very popular parks that are part of the Southern Ridges. Walk over to either park for another round of exploring!
