The Queen’s Cats is aptly named after the British’s favourite pastime – afternoon tea. The European-inspired cafe at Holland Village serves a delectable array of premium cakes, pastries, scones, teas and of the like. While prices here are admittedly steep by cafess standards, what customers get in return is a satisfying afternoon tea fix at any time of the day.

Set foot into the attractive cafe and be greeted by plush cushion seats and sparkly chandeliers. Beautiful artworks from Singapore Arts Gallery are hung on the tiffany blue walls and some of these masterpieces are available for purchase.

For obvious reasons, the cafe’s clientele consists of mainly ladies, but who said afternoon tea is only reserved for the females? Guys, come on in!

The Strawberry Shortcake (S$9++) is a must-order; the soft pillowy sponge cake is alternated with luscious layers of fresh whipped cream and strawberries. Moist and light, the dessert is not overwhelmingly sweet.

The Chocolate Passion Fruit Dome (S$9++) and Sultana Scones (S$5++ for two pieces) are equally impressive too.

A Classic Afternoon Tea Set (S$39++ for one to two guests, S$59++ for three to four guests) comprises three types of finger sandwiches, freshly baked traditional English sultana scones served with homemade seasonal fruit jams, lemon curd and Devonshire clotted cream, seasonal fruit tarts, Victoria sponge cake, ultimate walnut brownie and chocolate biscuits.

For something more substantial, opt for the Royal Afternoon Tea Set (S$49++ for one to two guests, S$69++ for three to four guests).

It consists of five different finger sandwiches, artisanal lemon blueberry scones, classic English sultana scones, handcrafted French macaroons and an enticing selection of scrumptious pastries.
