Small Potatoes Ice Creamery is a Hong Kong franchise that serves pretty purple potato ice cream and yes, these ice-cold sweet treats are in a very rich purple hue. These photogenic desserts are not overwhelmingly sweet and come with a variety of toppings.

Hong Kong’s foodie scene is very much integrated into Singaporeans’ lifestyles and we are somewhat witnessing the migration of a Hong Kong food-and-beverage brand into Singapore every other month.

Small Potatoes Ice Creamery is interestingly called Small Potato Ice Creamery in Hong Kong – but never mind the slight tweak of name in its branding.

Located in the basement of Novena Square 2, Small Potatoes Ice Creamery’s menu consists of delicious Japanese purple yam ice cream and Japanese sea salt ice cream. Customers can choose to add a myriad of unique ingredients such as brownies, crispy rice, doriyaki, mochi, popcorn and Japanese cheesecake to their soft serve at additional charges per topping.

As its name implies, the portions at Small Potatoes Ice Creamery are indeed tiny and we have to admit that prices for its sizes are considered rather pricey. Customers can expect to pay between S$5 and S$9.50 for an ice-cream cone and Small Potato Party Cup respectively.

A Small Potato Party Cup comprises purple potato soft serve served with purple yam powder, Japanese purple yam paste, warabi green tea mochi and shiratama dango. The velvety ice-cream is delightfully creamy and its smoothness is well contrasted with real bits of purple yam.

Yam lovers now have a specialty outlet to turn to when they need a desserts fix!
