The Ultimate Orchard Road Food Guide – 118 Best Places To Dine at

Orchard Road Dining

It has been four years since we wrote our guide on restaurants in Orchard Road and though we update them from time to time, we thought it is high time to re-curate and to introduce a new guide, featuring even more dining places in Singapore’s most famous shopping street.

Options are aplenty and no doubt we are all spoilt for choice, but are they really worth their queues/ price tags/ waiting time? We have friends from overseas who visit Singapore and have limited time on our sunny island, and then we have our locals who do not want to waste their calories unnecessarily.

The next time you head to Orchard Road, you need not face the risk of stepping in to a random diner and not knowing what to expect.

Here is the Ultimate Orchard Road Food Guide—Top Places to dine at Orchard Road, Somerset and Dhoby Ghaut:

K Cook Korean BBQ

K. Cook Korean BBQ Buffet has just opened at Orchard Central for a few months, but it has already earned the loyalty of many customers for a simple reason. It is one of the most affordable Korean BBQ buffet restaurants in Singapore. On weekdays, the Korean BBQ buffet is S$14.90++ /pax for lunch, and S$24.90++/pax for dinner.

During dinner, you can find a selection of meats like marinated pork collar, chicken, pork belly, pork collar, marinated beef short rib, beef bulgogi, beef plate eye and marinated beef ribeye, while lunch has considerately lesser beef options. Granted, the quality and variety of meat are not the best, but given the prices, there is really nothing to complain about.

TungLok XiHe Peking Duck Restaurant Singapore

TungLok XiHe

Where do you go to when you are beat from a whole day of shopping, laden with shopping bags and famished from all the walking? And you are just beat from the whole day of hubbub that you want nothing but familiar and hearty food to soothe the senses?

Well, if your craving is leaning towards Chinese food, then your answer is TungLok XiHe Peking Duck Restaurant, an outlet that offers a classic menu of modern Beijing cuisine. Conveniently located at Orchard Central and The Grandstand (Turf Club Road), the outlet is one that is clean and spacious, with a modern Chinese décor that is minimalistic and elegant.

Tunglok Xihe Peking Duck

There are many Chinese establishments that impressed us and left us good memories, but TungLok XiHe is one that is timeless. We love its concise menu and how it does not differ too much from its origins – nothing but the comforting familiarity of Chinese food at competitive prices. It is the kind of place that you can host your business associates, throw a celebration or to simply gather with your close ones.

When we had our meal, our tummies were so pleased with the quality meal that we were thinking about all the flowery adjectives and phrases to document the experience, but looking back now, we want nothing but to present TungLok XiHe Peking Duck as it is – unpretentious and classy. Here are our picks from the very good meal we had:

[ GIVEAWAY ] We are giving away 5 x TungLok XiHe Peking Duck vouchers (worth S$91.80 each). Leave a comment below, and share this post on your Facebook timeline to win. More details on the giveaway at the end of this post.

One-Ninety Four Seasons Hotel

One Ninety Brunch

Words by Serene Chai, photos by ladyironchef.

It is no secret that Singaporeans love to eat. However, the delicious irony is that we complain whenever we are short-changed by food that is lacking in quality or quantity. Hence, many of us are making more informed choices when it comes to forking out that extra bit of dough to enjoy a sumptuous spread.

The best thing you can do for yourself on a slow and lazy Sunday afternoon, is to have a lovely brunch buffet at One-Ninety, Four Seasons Singapore.

Tonkichi Tonkatsu Restaurant Singapore

Tonkichi

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been on a hunt for the best Tonkatsu in Singapore, and since Tonkichi Restaurant has always been known as one of the top tonkatsu speciality restaurants, I decided to go there for my first stop. It has been a while since my last visit to Tonkichi, so I was quite excited to try it again.

After having the tonkatsu at Tonkichi, I’m thrilled to say that it is still as good as before, and I will go so far as to say that they have one of the best tonkatsu in Singapore.

Jewel Artisan Chocolate Afternoon High Tea Singapore

Jewel Artisan Chocolate Orchard Central

Sometimes, all it takes is chocolate and cake to make me happy. I’m very sure that I’m not the only one who feels this way, so if you like chocolate and cake too, you should drop by Jewel Artisan Chocolate for their afternoon high tea.

They are located on the second level of Orchard Central. At just $14.80++, I’d think that Jewel Artisan Chocolate has a pretty value for money tea set for those who are not willing to splurge $38++/pax to have afternoon tea at a Five Star Hotel.

Ootoya Orchard Central Japanese Restaurant Singapore

Ootoya Japanese Restaurant Singapore

As I was walking in Orchard Central, I suddenly realized that it is actually a pretty nice place for dining. First of all, Orchard Central is relatively quiet compared to the other shopping malls in Orchard Singapore, and most importantly, there are a lot of restaurants in Orchard Central!

The funny thing is: Ootoya Japanese Restaurant is the only restaurant in Orchard Central that has a queue. In case you are wondering how to find a way around this, no, they don’t take reservations. You need to be there early before lunch/dinner time, or just wait (at least) twenty-thirty minutes for a table.
