Happy 2nd birthday, our favourite waffles heaven Twenty Grammes!

Twenty Grammes is a dessert bar that has been so popular since its first outlet in North Bridge Road, and the newer outlet at Ang Mo Kio is no less inviting. They specialise in waffles and ice cream, and that’s pretty much the best things on earth.

In conjunction with their 2nd anniversary this month, Twenty Grammes has rolled out a dessert that is bound to get you excited—Hojicha Soft Serve on Waffle.

And on top of that, we have a really great deal for all of you. From now until 23 December 2016, quote ‘ladyironchef’ to get 50% OFF the second waffle or bingsu (on the lower-priced item) on weekdays.

Here are 10 Most Instagrammable Desserts From Twenty Grammes.

#1 S’MORES WAFFLE

Made up of Twenty Grammes’ signature crispy and fluffy Belgian waffles, the S’mores Waffle (S$15) is topped with melted torched marshmallows, chocolate hazelnut sauce, graham crackers, whipped cream and a scoop of ice cream to your preference. We recommend getting a chocolate-based ice cream flavour to go with this particular waffles!

#2 SASSY FELLOW

If you are not the biggest fan of chocolates, how does a banana waffle sound? The Sassy Fellow (S$12.90) features slices of fresh bananas cooked inside a waffle batter. The cooked waffles are then topped with more bananas, walnuts for an added crunch, maple syrup, sea salt caramel sauce and a huge scoop of Vanilla or Honey-Scotch Ice Cream.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Cafes are usually not known for their steaks, but FFL’s Angus Scotch Fillet (S$39) is a chef’s recommendation and it is worth a try. For the price, you get a huge 300g NZ angus ribeye with a choice of mushroom sauce or red wine jus – with shoe string fries and mesclun salad that comes with lots of fruits, too. We observed and realised that this is a surprisingly popular item during lunch hours!

Then, there is the Da Bomb Burger (S$19). We suppose the name sums it all. A juicy 250g beef patty with crispy bacon, sunny side-up and melted cheese, the burger is tall and handsome. And we love how the burger comes with not only fries, but a generous serving of fruit salad too. The colourful addition instantly prettifies the dish!

Need to load up on your carbs? Look to the pasta section. The Carbonara (S$18) is a classic choice that is always good, but the chef highly recommends the Masago Caviar Pasta that comes with baked half shell scallop topped with fresh quail egg and caviar masago

And we are on to the sweets now. The spotlight has got to be on its homemade Rainbow Cake (S$7). Light and soft, the FFL’s version is listed in our Guide to Singapore’s Best Rainbow Cakes. Very Instagram-worthy without a doubt, too. Fans of tropical fruits will also love their Lychee Cake (S$6.50) that is baked in-house too.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

On weekends, expect a hearty brunch menu that includes everyone’s favourite Eggs Benedict (S$13), Frittata (S$15) and Bananalicious Pancakes (S$11).

During lunch hours on weekdays (11am to 2:30pm), FFL offers a value-for-money lunch menu at S$12+. You get a soup and a choice of one out of three main courses. The options vary daily, but if you do see the Grilled Pangasius Filler with Pumpkin Quinoa and Spicy Fish Sauce, go for it.

Indeed, there are so many reasons to love FFL. The East of Singapore has no lack of cafes, but FFL stands out for its unique concept and consistent well-executed food. There are ample parking lots along that street, and if you are going via public transport, it sits along by the main road, so there is no need to walk a mile to get there.

The rainbow cake is a brilliant creation with multi-coloured layers, and if there was a beauty pageant for cakes, the rainbow cake would win hands-down.

Whether you like it or not, this is one cake that will steal the show at a party or draw the crowd to a cafe. We have a simple and easy rainbow cake recipe for those who want to try baking it at home. But for the rest of us who are more talented at eating than baking, here is a list of cafes that serve rainbow cake in Singapore.

#1 DEAN & DELUCA

One of the top sellers at Dean & Deluca is its Rainbow Cake (S$9). The pastry chef uses six different fruit extracts – strawberry, orange, lemon, green apple, blueberry and grape – to give the cake its brilliant rainbow colours.

No fruits in Fresh Fruits Lab’s version of Rainbow Cake (S$7), but it is a lovely sweet treat that we’d do anytime. Nothing overly sweet, and the cake is soft enough for our liking. Complete with colourful sprinkles, this is your best bet when you are in the East!

#3 I AM… CAFE

Inspired by the city of Amsterdam, I Am… is a halal-certified cafe at Haji Lane that serves a selection of Western food like burgers, sandwiches, and pizzas. Much has been said about its rainbow desserts, and they indeed live up to the hype. The huge stack of Rainbow Cake is quite a sight to behold, while the Rainbow Crepe is also equally popular.

#9 THE COFFEE DAILY

The Coffee Daily is well-loved for several reasons: the cafe serves a pretty good cup of coffee, the staff are always friendly and welcoming, a cosy spot to chill out with friends, and it also serves a variety of desserts, including the highly popular rainbow cake (S$10 Nett).

If you are planning to go there, do note that the rainbow cake usually sells out as early as 3pm, so do give them a call to check on the availability before heading down.

#10 W39 BISTRO & BAKERY

W39 Bistro & Bakery has only been around for a short while, but despite its rather inaccessible location, it has won themselves a loyal following among people staying in the west of Singapore. With pretty cakes, decent coffee, free wifi, and a variety of good magazines, it is not difficult to understand why its popularity. Among its selection of cakes, the show-stopper is definitely the rainbow cake. If you need any more convincing to travel all the way to West Coast, W39 Bistro has a value-for-money afternoon tea set – order any 2 cakes and 2 drinks for S$19 (available from Tue to Fri 3pm – 6pm).

I have been to The Coffee Daily near Serangoon Garden Estate several times in the past few months. It has quite a few good things going for it: the cafe serves a pretty good cup of coffee; the staff are always friendly, genuine and welcoming; it is a cosy place with free wifi to revise for your exams, or to catch up with friends.

On the menu, they have sandwiches, waffles with ice cream, and a selection of desserts like Chocolate Lava Cake and Rainbow Cake. And I also love that they provide complimentary old-school iced gem biscuits – a small gesture that means so much. The Coffee Daily is located slightly out of the way, but it is worth a visit.
