Most of the boutique hotels in Taipei are reasonably-priced, and you can easily find a place that is located in a convenient area like Taipei City Hall or Taipei Main Station. There are plenty of budget-friendly options, but if you are willing to pay a little more for accommodation, I would recommend Hotel Éclat in the Da-an district, which to me, is one of the top hotels in Taipei.

I can go on and on about the features of the hotel – numerous contemporary works of art by famous artists like Salvador Dali and Andy Warhol, the grand glass chandeliers in the lobby, the meeting rooms which are ideal for meetings – but what makes our stay so special is that although Hotel Éclat is a small boutique hotel with only 60 rooms, it is sexy and luxurious yet very comfortable. There is no better place to bring your partner when you are on a holiday in Taipei.

The room, while small, is extremely cosy. We love that Hotel Éclat provides Molten Brown toiletries, Nespresso coffee, and free wifi. We also appreciate that the room is equipped with heated toilet seat and walk-in rain forest shower.

The service in general is welcoming and friendly, most of the staff can communicate fluently in English – not always the case in Taipei – to answer any queries that you may have.

For those who travel mainly by metro, the location of the hotel is not quite perfect as it is a 10-minute walk to the nearest MRT Station (Daan), but if you are planning to cab, it is quite centralised and you can easily get to popular spots like Taipei 101 in the east, Zhongxiao Fuxing or Yong Kang Street.
