We all experience those dreadful, also regretful mornings after a night out drinking. The ones where you feel like you can’t even leave the bed, those head throbbing ones. Everyone knows that eating or drinking large quantities of water eases the pain, but wouldn’t you want to know what really does the trick?

You may already have your own way on tackling these kind of situations, but these are the 5 essential eateries in Singapore to go to instantly cure it:

#1 BEACH ROAD PRAWN MEE

Singaporeans already know this famous prawn mee place which is located on 370 East Coast Road. But has it ever occurred to you that this place is one of the first places you should go to when seeking an instant hangover cure?

Although the line is always long, the place is loud and nonetheless crowded, the wait is that worth it. As soon as you get this bowl of deliciousness, the first sip of the hot broth that is the soup, you can already feel the cure having an effect. Then there’s the jumbo tiger prawns, the best part. The texture of the prawns are cooked to perfection, whereas they are so succulent and compliments the egg noodles so well.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Don’t worry about still being hungry after this meal, for they give you at least 4 of them and a generous amount of noodles. Whether you’re a fan of chilli padi or not, but adding them into your spoon of broth, noodles and prawns totally enhances the entire flavor. So give it a go next time you wake up feeling absolutely wiped out, for this meal is totally worth it.

370 E Coast Road
Tel: +65 6345 7196
Wed to Mon: 9am – 4pm
Nearest Station: Eunos/Kembangan

#2 SALTED EGG YOLK CHICKEN FROM TASTE GOOD IN SIM LIM SQUARE

Then there’s this, the salted egg yolk chicken. Now, this is something everyone loves, whoever you are. Salted egg yolk chicken is the answer for all questions, actually salted egg yolk anything is the answer for all questions.

To get to the point, the salted egg yolk chicken that is served up in Taste Good at Sim Lim Square on the second floor, lives up to its name. The place, like the Beach Road Prawn Mee, is always crowded and also has a long queue. But when you receive this wonderful dish in front of your eyes, you can’t help but admiring it before devouring it.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

The salted egg yolk which coats the crispy chicken, along with the rice with a fried egg on top creates an explosion of flavor. Every bite is like the first bite, where you can taste the richness and creaminess of the salted egg yolk that combines with the crispiness of the chicken. You get a generous amount of rice and an option to get it with chilli padi that enhances the flavor as well.

To give you the best night out, we’ve quizzed and hounded industry experts on how they do it. Here are 10 tips on how to prevent that pounding headache, and how to cure your hangover—till the next drinking sesh.

#3 MUCHACHOS

Let’s set aside the Singaporean dishes for now and focus on Muchachos. Muchachos is an LA style Mexican joint located in 22 Keong Saik Road, that serves up one of the best burritos, quesadillas and most importantly, buffalo wings I’ve ever had.

Much like the famous Chipotle in the states, their burritos are so packed with ingredients that it would leave you stuffed for the next day or two. You’re probably asking yourself, why is this a hangover cure? Well, think about it, you have one of the heaviest cuisines rich in flavor and fats that would sugar coat the hangover away.

The main attraction is the famous big burrito. They make this thing in front of you and it makes you so much more hungry seeing them prepare it. Whereas they toast the tortilla bread first with shredded cheddar cheese and give you an option of your desired toppings.

22 Keong Saik Road
Tel: +65 6220 0458
Mon to Thu: 12pm – 4pm, 6pm – 10pm
Fri & Sat: 12pm – 12midnight
Nearest Station: Outram Park

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

#4 RU JI KITCHEN’S FISH BALL NOODLES

I’ve had fish ball noodles everywhere in Singapore but none of them has lived up to Ru Ji Kitchen. Owned by two young Singaporean locals, Joanne and Daniel serve up the most satisfying fish ball noodles in the country, the mee pok is cooked to perfection and their homemade fish balls are addictive. The texture and flavor all create this everlasting sensation that makes you want to go back for more.

The pork lard with the chillies with the noodles, just everything about this dish will make you salivate after trying it, and this instantly cures the hangover even just by looking at it.

#02-28 Holland Drive Market and Food Centre
Blk 44 Holland Drive
Nearest Station: Buona Vista

#5 BUMBU

The last one has a catchy name and even catchier food, Bumbu started off in 44 Kandahar Street but has branched out to places such as Telok Ayer and Farrer Park. This is a Thai-Indonesian fusion restaurant that serves up one of the best Thai and Indonesian foods I’ve ever had.

Now, unlike the previous places that were mentioned, Bumbu is a quiet and calming restaurant to go to when having a hangover. The experience of the place feels more like you are in a Thai or Indonesian grandmother’s home, where the walls are covered in intriguing authentic paintings.

Authenticity is their main selling point, for not only do they serve up great food – such as the Olive Fried Rice and Coffee Chicken – but the overall experience enhances the flavor of the food, making you feel instantly better.

44 Kandahar Street
Tel: +65 6392 8628
Tue to Sun: 11am – 3pm, 6pm – 10pm
Nearest Station: Bugis

Hangovers are not fun and getting out of bed is not the easiest thing as well. But when it comes to these 5 go-to places to instantly cure it, your body will know and automatically seek it’s cure at one of these food havens.

Downed a beer too fast? Drank a shot too many? We’ve all been there at some point of our lives. So to give you the best night out, we’ve quizzed and hounded industry experts on how they do it. Here are 10 tips on how to prevent that pounding headache, and how to cure your hangover—till the next drinking sesh.

#1 PUKE IT OUT

It sounds gross but puking your guts out after a night of drinking helps to rid your body of the alcohol and toxins, thus preventing hangovers.

-Alex Ng, Bartender, Tess Bar & Kitchen

#2 HEAD TO THE LOO OFTEN

If you know you’ll be spending the night drinking, head to the loo often. Peeing helps to thin the alcohol inside the blood stream; preventing you from getting drunk quickly.

- David Yeung, Spirits Journeyman, Proof & Company

#3 ONE GLASS OF WATER FOR EVERY DRINK

I go by a simple rule of thumb: one glass of water for every drink—tried and true. I almost never get hangovers.

- Desiree Silva, Mistress of the House, 28 HongKong Street

#4 HAVE A GLASS OF MILK OR STICK OF BUTTER BEFORE DRINKING

Have a glass of milk or stick of butter before drinking. Dairy helps to line the stomach, allowing the alcohol to stay in the stomach longer, thus giving the enzymes more time to break down the alcohol.

- Eugene Chua, Bartender, Luke’s Oyster Bar

#5 EAT STEAK

Have a big piece of steak. Having said that, if you’re out drinking every other night, you’re gonna be eating a mighty lot of meat.

- Jeremie Tan, Bartender, Jekyll & Hyde

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

#6 SEX HELPS

Sex prevents that depressive spirit you get from hangovers. The release of endorphins and oxytocins stimulate muscle contraction, bringing down one’s aggressiveness to negative emotions from a hangover.

- Joe Alessandroni, General Manager, 28 HongKong Street

#7 AN ALCOHOL SHOT GIVES YOU AN ENERGY BOOST

The hair of the dog works, but there’s times when you’ll need the whole fur coat! When you’re hungover, an alcohol shot gives you an energy boost you desperately need to go about your day.

- Peter Chua, Bartender, DIAGEO World Class Singapore 2014 Finalist

#8 DOWN A BOTTLE OF BEER

My advice for hangovers is to down a bottle of beer. It might lead to alcohol dependency (in the long run), but I live for the moment.

- Samuel Wong, Owner-bartender, Ah Sam Cold Drink Stall

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

#9 HAVE SUFFICIENT SLEEP BEFORE DRINKING

Make sure you have sufficient sleep before drinking. A good estimate would be 10 hours. Fatigue causes the liver to be less efficient at processing alcohol, leading to higher blood alcohol concentration levels—causing one to get drunk more quickly.

- Steve Leong, DIAGEO World Class Singapore 2014 Finalist

#10 A FRESH GLASS OF TOMATO JUICE WILL DO THE TRICK

Hangovers can be a bitch, but a fresh glass of tomato juice the morning after always works for me.

- Tomas Stoila, Manager, Manhattan Bar
