Knots Café and Living—a garden-themed cafe in Tai Seng—is opening its second outlet in the South of Singapore.

The new space is located at 102E Pasir Panjang Road, near to the former space vacated by the now-defunct Habitat by honestbee.

For those of you who haven’t been to Knots Café and Living before, it is an unassuming floral café opened by Xpressflower.com which is located amidst the bustling area of Tai Seng.

At first glance, you’d think Knots Cafe & Living is just a well-furbished furniture store. And, you wouldn’t be wrong. But, what do you know—they serve decent cafe food as well! Behind their mystical garden theme and woody aesthetic, their hidden kitchen dishes up classic brunch and Western fare.

Opt for a waffle twist to your usual brunch affair with the Knots Waffle Brekkie, which comes with smoked beef sausage, sautéed mushrooms and scrambled eggs. The Fish & Chips is a recommended dish as well which sees thick dory fillets breaded and fried to a golden crisp.

Have a cup of coffee, read a book or catch up with work while you are there.

The new Knots Café and Living outlet at Pasir Panjang Road is expected to open by mid Oct 2021 and it will feature a similar food menu but with more refined options.

There will also be a wider selection of wines available. They have plans to have an outdoor al fresco dining area, but it is still pending approval from the building’s management.

Located at Marine Cove in East Coast Park, East Coast Commune is a family-friendly cafe that serves speciality coffee, cold pressed juices, hearty sandwiches, fresh bakes, natural wines and craft beers.

One of the most beautiful cafes in Singapore, it is a great hangout spot which is worth travelling to East Coast Park for.

What we like about East Coast Commune:

The name reflects its intention to be a gathering spot for all ages—there’s something for everyone here. The kids can have fun at the indoor play area while the adults can enjoy a leisure brunch with a cup of coffee, or a craft beer or two.

East Coast Commune’s menu features a selection of Sourdough Sandwiches (S$11), Pasta (S$19), The Brekkie (S$18), Fried Chicken & Waffle (S$18) and Fresh Sourdough Waffle (S$12).

Are you on the hunt for aesthetic cafes with picturesque spots to spice up your boring Instagram feed? Or are you simply a hungry boyfriend looking to fill your growling tummy while your girlfriend badgers you for “IG-worthy date spots”?

Fret not, as you get the best of both worlds at Knots Café and Living —  a gorgeous garden café located in Tai Seng!

This unassuming café is located amidst the bustling area of Tai Seng. Boasting floral décor, plushies and wooden furniture, Knots is a multi-concept store selling both furniture and a menu of typical café fare.

If you forgot to buy bae a present, this place will be your saving grace. Home to cute trinkets, there are lots of perfect last-minute gifts you can surprise your partner with. From their various blooms and interesting knick-knacks to the table you will be dining at, everything is for sale!

We decided to try their iconic savoury waffle platter: Knots Waffle Brekkie (S$18.90). This is the perfect dish to share with your partner. It was served in a hulking mountain of ingredients sitting atop a giant bed of fluffy buttermilk waffle.

The waffle was soft with an airy middle, and the strong buttermilk flavour was evident. Having been drizzled with syrup, it also had a sweet aftertaste.

The scrambled eggs were our favourite — the eggs were runny with an ultra-creamy texture that melted in our mouths. It complemented the pillowy waffle well, elevating its savouriness. The sautéed mushrooms also had a strong charred flavour, tantalising our tastebuds, while still allowing its natural sweetness to come through. 

Though crisp on the outside, the bacon was surprisingly soft and tender, tearing apart easily. It also had a distinct cinnamon-like taste that kept us hankering for more.

We also opted for their Fish and Chips (S$13.90). Served with a generous portion of french fries, the deep-fried breaded dory fillet was incredibly crunchy. Paired together with the piquant, salty tartar sauce, the dressing added to the fish’s savouriness.

It wasn’t overwhelming greasy either and we liked how it had a thick meat to skin ratio. The meat was tender as well; add a pinch of lemon to add zesty flavour to the fish!

Albeit on the pricier side, Knots Café and Living is a great date spot for those looking to dine at an idyllic café. Step in and be enthralled by its garden wonderland! If you happen to be in the area, do pop by and give them a try.

Instagrammable cafes are all the rage now; anything that’s picture-perfect is bound to be a hit. If you’re looking for one of these Instagram-worthy hot spots in Singapore, Cafe De Nicole’s Flower should be your next destination. Both a florist and cafe space, it will fulfil all your floral fantasies and sweet cravings.

Though a little out of the way in the East of Singapore, Cafe De Nicole’s Flower has made its way up Singapore’s list of picturesque cafes. The cafe is decked with fresh blooms, dried flowers and boasts a subtle rustic charm. You can even bring your pets with you to enjoy some desserts too!

Walking into Cafe De Nicole’s Flower truly felt like we were stepping into a fairytale. We were immediately greeted by a whole display of beautiful flowers, rustic decor and an inviting aroma of sweets. A good picture can be taken from every angle.

First up on the table was the Charcoal Waffles with Ice Cream (S$15.90). You can choose from a myriad of interesting ice cream flavours such as Hokkaido Strawberry, Lemon Yuzu and Earl Grey. We went with the aromatic classic Earl Grey.

The crisp waffles paired very well with the silky Earl Grey ice cream. Sliced fruit is also speckled on the plate.

Light, fluffy and sweet, the Original Pancakes (S$17.90)  is served with maple syrup and sweet cream. It tasted a little eggier than sweet and it was a bit jelak for us after a while.

Their soufflé pancakes also come with Hokkaido Strawberry Ice Cream (S$19.90) or in a Tiramisu-flavoured rendition (S$19.90).

We also tried one of Cafe De Nicole’s Flower’s signature drinks – Rose Latte (S$9.80). Made with homemade rose syrup and milk, this warm drink is mildly sweet and pleasantly perfumes your tastebuds as you sip on it.

Overall, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food at Cafe De Nicole’s Flower, although price wise, it is a little on the steep side.

If you’re making a trip down to the cafe, try and spot their resident cat that’s cutely named “Lao Ban” – it means “Boss” in Mandarin.

You’re free to bring your furry friends with you to the cafe as well. Just make sure they’re properly leashed and looked after while you eat!
