The Michelin Guide Singapore has just released its Bib Gourmand Awards 2016. Singapore’s rich cultural diversity and local gastronomy has thus been further affirmed, much to the delight of many gourmets and food lovers alike.

14 restaurants, 17 hawkers and 3 street food establishments have made it to the list. Criteria for the award? The establishment must offer quality and value-for-money meals under S$45.

Local delights that made it to the list include the much loved Hainanese chicken rice, prawn noodles, bak kut teh and also the unpretentious curry puff.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Hawker selections are aplenty, ranging from the popular Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice in Maxwell Food Centre, Balestier Road Hoover Rojak in Whampoa Market Place and Famous Sungei Road Trishaw’s laksa in Hong Lim Market and Food centre.

New to the hawker scene is A Noodle Story which started out in 2013, owned by two fine dining trained chefs turned entrepreneurs.

It is not just local food that received all the praises. Restaurant options extend to Turkish cuisine like Alaturka at Bussorah street, Indian fare at Laagna in Little India, Peranakan cooking at True Blue Cuisine in Armenian Street and Singaporeans’ favourite bak kut teh at Song Fa in New Bridge Road.
