Established in 2014, Crafty Cow is a gastropub in Sheung Wan, Hong Kong, specialising in craft beers and premium steaks. Located in the yuppie neighbourhood Sheung Wan, Crafty Cow could be quickly condemned as yet another overpriced white-washed establishment – except that it really isn’t.

Crafty Cow was started up by third-culture kids who have spent a significant amount of their development years abroad and wish to bring a diverse range of flavours to the tables to local Hong Kongers.

From Spanish Duroc Pork with Kimchi Slaw, Bone Marrow with Sichuan Pepper Infused Oil to Oxtongue Tortilla Espanola with Korean BBQ Sauce, Crafty Cow has effortlessly integrated Asian condiments into Western staples.

Frankly speaking, they have nailed it. These dishes have evidently brought out the best of what both the East and West have to offer.

To get your bang for the buck, we suggest you drop by during lunchtime for their affordable lunch sets which includes a hearty main such as the Wagyu Hanger Steak Sandwich (HK$138+ / S$25+) or Truffle Grilled Cheese & Onion Soup (HK$108+ / S$19.50+).

Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel may not be the most posh hotel in Hong Kong, but it is no less popular among business travellers and tourists.

The convention centre is just beside the property, so if you ever need to look for an accommodation when attending a trade show or event at Hong Kong, Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel has categories of rooms and suites to offer.

Wan Chai is a gem of an area to stay at because lots of local treasures are hidden in the streets and alleys.

Back to the hotel, Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel has a distinct view of the Harbour together with the iconic spaceship-lookalike convention centre if you choose to put up at the rooms with a harbour view.

We say it is worth the top-up, because you rise to the awaken city every morning and instantly feel energised, and go into slumber remembering the gorgeous night view of the skyline.

That really marked the most memorable element of our stay at Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel; we are not even talking about the ultra plush bedding and marble bathroom yet! They left us feeling so spoilt.

We had the club lounge access too, and you know what that means? Endless drinks, of course! The sheer selection available during evening cocktail hours will please any alcoholics, but more than this, the lounge has a very inviting atmosphere that is conducive for catching up on some work while enjoying some snacks and drinks.

Party animals, party rock is at Lan Kwai Fong! Put your hands up to the sound and shake that! This is the ultimate night spot for crazy nights and we heard even TVB celebrity Bosco Wong parties here and has been spotted a few times.

#7 FIND EVERYTHING THAT YOU NEED AT HARBOUR CITY

Dubbed as the best all-in-one destination in Hong Kong, Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui is a huge playground for every fashionista and gourmet. There are also entertainment options, and Marco Polo HongKong Hotel also sits within Harbour City. For the shoppers, you will most definitely be spoilt for choices with its myriad of international luxe labels, casual and sports wear, and kids’ apparels. Dining is also exhilarating with all its local and international names that will suit every budget and palate. There are also two cinemas and a ferry terminal that is home to cruise liners.

#8 MONGKOK – THE HEART OF HONG KONG

Known as the world’s most densely populated area, Mongkok is one happening part of Hong Kong. Some locals we know detest its rowdy atmosphere, but we see beauty beyond this messy hood. Nail parlours, massage houses and random boutiques are littered everywhere, and cafes and cha chaan tengs are aplenty. There is surely something to see and do, but you just have to beware of pickpockets.

#9 EXPLORE TAI HANG – THE HIPPEST NEIGHBOURHOOD IN HONG KONG

An obscure hood that is mainly residential, Tai Hang sits southeast of Causeway Bay and is fast becoming a dining destination. In the recent years, the gritty neighbourhood sees many new cafes and dessert shops, and the whole Tai Hang area henceforth exudes a charm that is second to none. Alongside car repair shops and old roadside stalls that they call dai pai dong, Tai Hang is one area not to be missed.

#10 HAVE A MEAL AT A LOCAL CHA CHAAN TENG

#15 ADMIRE THE CITY’S SKYLINE FROM THE PEAK

So this is where you get the best view of Hong Kong. With so many things to see and do, The Peak is ever popular with both locals and tourists. Dine in style at the many restaurants that serve both continental and international cuisine, enjoy a panoramic view of Hong Kong at the Sky Terrace that is 428m above sea level, but most importantly, take the Peak Tram – one of the oldest’s railway that travels at a very steep gradient.

#17 TAKE NGONG PING 360 TO LANTAU ISLAND

If you have some time to spare after shopping at Citygate outlets, take the 25 minutes cable car ride toNgong Ping 360 — one of Hong Kong’s must-visit tourist attractions on Lantau island. There, you get to see the spectacular Giant Buddha, and visit the Po Lin Monastery.

#18 IFC

Often photographed for Hong Kong’s publicity, the International Financial Centre (ifc) is the most notable tall building. The heart of Hong Kong and an integrated commercial development, ifc is the most happening office building. The sheer amount of shopping options here is enough to keep you busy for a day, and there is a cinema too.

#19 THE PRIZED VICTORIA HARBOUR

The energetic skyline is one of our favourite sights, and one that we can never get sick of no matter how many times we visit Hong Kong. It is second to none, with its skyscrapers set against distant mountains and clouds hanging low in the day, and brightly lit up at night with a rainbow of colours. Not to be missed is the nightly “Symphony of Lights” show. At 8pm every night, witness the magic of the multimedia show that is named “World’s Largest Permanent Light and Sound Show” by Guinness World Records.

#20 CAUSEWAY BAY – THE ULTIMATE SHOPPING AREA IN HONG KONG

Want to boost the economy? Then head to Causeway Bay – quite possibly the ultimate shopping area in Hong Kong. It is on Hong Kong Island, and you can find shops at every inch of the street, and several major departmental stores are within walking distances from each other too. The renown Jardine’s Crescent street market is here, too!

#21 SHAM SHUI PO – EVERY GEEK’S HEAVEN

Known for being the street market for electronic devices and gadgets, Sham Shui Po is every geek’s heaven. Camera equipments are found to be relatively cheaper too.

#22 TAKE A STROLL ALONG THE AVENUE OF STARS

Walk the trail where celebrities leave their hand and foot prints – well, quite literally. It is a lovely stroll along the Victoria Harbour, and it overlooks the iconic Hong Kong skyline.

#23 BARGAIN HUNTING AT LADIES’ MARKET

We do think this place is kind of messy and it definitely is not the most tasteful, but for first-timers, it can be quite eye-opening. It is one long stretch in the heart of Mongkok, and you can find all sorts of merchandise – accessories and footwear, paintings and lifestyle products, sex costumes and soccer jerseys (imitations), and most stalls sell counterfeit branded bags and watches.

#24 OCEAN PARK – AMUSEMENT PARK, ANIMAL THEME PARK, OCEANARIUM AND MARINE MAMMAL PARK

Located in the Southern District, Ocean Park is one of the longest standing attraction of Hong Kong. It houses an amusement park, an animal theme park, an oceanarium and a marine mammal park all in the 17-hectare park. An ideal option for families to spend a day at.

#25 EGG WAFFLES (GAI DAN ZAI)

Just sugar and eggs, but there is something so addictive about this iconic street snack that gets everyone’s hearts. Crisp on the outside, warm and airy on the inside, Egg Waffles make a very affordable everyday snack.

#26 DA PAI DANG

Like our Singapore’s zi char, Da Pai Dang are roadside stalls and makeshift eateries at Hong Kong, and it is a diminishing trade. If you chance upon one, stop by for a quintessential Hong Kong meal. Most of them cook really well!

#27 BALL LAW COWSSANT – A HYBRID OF CROISSANT AND BO LUO BAO

If you love po luo bao, you will fall in love uncontrollably with URBAN Bakery Works’ Ball Law Cowssant! A hybrid of croissant and bo luo bao (pineapple bun) complete with a slab of French butter, the Ball Law Cowssant (Dare devil version) is nothing but sheer indulgence. URBAN Bakery Works has also just launched a new Molten Egg Yolk Custard Croissant, which is equally good, if not even better.

#28 BEST COCKTAIL BARS IN THE CITY

Best known as a city for the best shopping and dining, Hong Kong has no lack of good drinking spots, too. We dug through into the streets to score you the top five cocktail bars in Hong Kong so you can hit the ground running.

#29 THE ICONIC JUNK BOATS

Because we all need something for Instagram to conclude our trip, yes? And what can be more iconic of HongKong other than the ubiquitous Bank of China building?

We cannot quite put a finger to Wan Chai when we first set foot in that neighbourhood. It is bustling like many other areas in Hong Kong, but for the lack of a better description – Wan Chai is quite distinctly Hong Kong. Forget about how people discount Wan Chai for its red light district (because it is really just one lane that you can easily miss), because there is so much more to look out for.

We love Wan Chai for its little gems and unexpected finds – comfort Hong Kong cuisine in humble settings, locals peddling their wares and arts, executives loosening their ties to unwind over a good lunch… and all these make up Hotel Indigo.

A relatively new baby in the local hotel scene, Hotel Indigo Hong Kong Island is everything Wan Chai is. It reflects snippets of its characteristic neighbourhood, and this is precisely what Hotel Indigo wants to create, so that guests feel blended in to the local culture, and locals resonate with the comforting familiarity.

Lushly furnished with resplendent hues, step into a whimsical world of arts right in the heart of Wan Chai. The rooms in Hotel Indigo quite unlike your typical commercialised properties. Every room has its unique configuration, together with a collection of art pieces and local touches to boast. Catch glimpses of the bustling vicinity from their ceiling-to-floor windows, and sip tea on the furry couches while reading your favourite magazines in the quiet corner of your room.

We enjoyed meals at the in-house restaurant too, where the kitchen dishes out a mix of continental and international cuisines. If you are feeling Eastern, their boiled soups are lovely. And to satisfy your Western palates, they have pretty mean salads, too!

Our favourite part about staying at Hotel Indigo? The location is superb. Just a stone’s throw from the MTR station, getting around is a breeze and we really enjoyed our little strolls back home every night. And it is really refreshing to stay out of the popular and typical districts for a change.

We have been to Hong Kong many times, but frankly, we never considered staying in Causeway Bay. We usually prefer to stay in other areas like Central, Tsim Sha Tsui, Mongkok, Kowloon, Wanchai where our favourite restaurants and shops are located. Somehow, Causeway just did not appeal to us previously. However, a recent stay at Lanson Place Hotel on Leighton Road changed all that.

A premium hospitality brand, Lanson Place is a familiar name to discerning travellers. It has many luxury serviced apartments and residences across Asia. Lanson Place Hotel, Hong Kong, however, is a full-fledged hotel and it is a warm and welcoming respite within the city.

Check in to the hotel at the 133 Lounge, which also acts as the breakfast restaurant and the residence lounge. It is beautifully designed and it feels almost like your home.

Once inside Lanson Place Hotel, it feels like you are in a boutique hotel in Paris, rather than Hong Kong. The decor is modern and understated, yet rich with a luxurious touch.

The room has a few good things going for it: a Parisian-inspired interior, full length windows which allow the sunlight to flood the room, and a kitchenette with microwave and fridge.

The location is also one of the reasons why Lanson Place Hotel Hong Kong is a lovely place for both business and leisure travellers. It is a few minutes walk to Causeway Bay MTR Station, and there are so many good dining options – Habitat Cafe, Via Tokyo, Little Burro, Ramen Jo, Coffee Alley, Butao Ramen – in the area. It is also near to Tai Hang, an up and coming neighbourhood packed with nice restaurants, cafes and eateries. The hotel also provides free shuttle bus service to North Point, Quarry Bay, Wanchai, and Central.

After a long day out, The Lanson Place Hotel is a wonderful place to return to. If you are planning to explore the Causeway Bay neighbourhood, we would wholeheartedly recommend staying at The Lanson Place Hotel, Hong Kong.

When travelling for leisure, most people would want to check out the best eating places in that city – dining in a hotel restaurant is usually not the priority.

That is not surprising, given that the general perception of hotel food is crappy buffet food and lousy restaurants serving tasteless and expensive food. However, this is definitely not the case at InterContinental Hong Kong. I know I was just recently praising another InterContinental property, but I have good reason.

During my stay at InterContinental Hong Kong, I was impressed by their dining offerings. Not only is it home to  contemporary French cuisine at 2 Michelin Star SPOON by Alan Ducasse, it also has other fantastic restaurants such as Nobu – one of the most famous Japanese restaurants in the world – which serves innovative modern Japanese cuisine, and Yan Toh Heen - 1 Michelin Star Chinese restaurant that is known for its Cantonese specialities. The restaurants at InterContinental Hong Kong will please even the harshest critics.

Of course, food is not the only reason why I am a fan of InterContinental Hong Kong. Over two-thirds of the 503 luxurious rooms and 87 suites provide a stunning view of Victoria Harbour. All rooms come with 24-hour butler service. From booking a reservation at one of the city’s top tables. or finding a gift for your loved ones, you can be sure that the butlers are always ready on hand to help.

The hotel offers complimentary yoga classes and Taiji for guests. It also organises various in-the-know experiences such as a dim sum making class or a local market tour.

If you are looking for a five-star experience when staying in Hong Kong, InterContinental Hong Kong is the top choice.

The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong is a favourite among businessmen who have meetings at the International Commerce Centre, and young couples who enjoy the finest things in life.

The modern and classy interior design makes the hotel an absolute gem in the skyscraper-dominated city. It is not difficult to see why the Ritz-Carlton is one of the top hotels in the world. The service? Perfection. The staff know each guest by their first name, and they are always polite and courteous, and it feels like they are genuinely happy to see you at the hotel.

The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong has several excellent dining options which will ensure that you will never be hungry throughout the stay.

The Lounge is one of the most popular spots in Hong Kong where guests and locals go for afternoon tea (reservations are required way in advance).

Tin Lung Heen, the 2 Michelin star restaurant, delivers a modern interpretation of Cantonese food, and the Char-grilled Barbecued Iberian Pork is to-die-for. Prices are steep, but it is a restaurant with a terrific view and exceptional service. If you are celebrating a special occasion, I canot think of a better place than Tin Lung Heen at The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong.

Tosca offers Southern Italian cuisine in a stunning restaurant. The food is well-executed and I love that the chefs take pride in the food presentation to provide a terrific dining experience.

I stayed at the club level, so I had access to the Club Lounge’s facilities. It includes a buffet area, a lounge section and a meeting room. I spent quite a bit of time there reading a book, while indulging in snacks.

If you go, you must have a drink at Ozone, one of the highest bars in the world. Even if you are not staying at the hotel, you should also drop by for drinks with your friends.

What I love about The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong, other than the wonderful service and luxurious experience, is that it has a fantastic view of the entire city. I was thinking to myself that there is no need to make a trip to The Peak as the hotel has an even better view.

The room was posh and very cosy. It was well-equipped, and the attention to detail demonstrated the hotel’s goal to make sure that every guest has a memorable time. As I was about to check out from the hotel, I felt a tinge of sadness as my stay had been nothing short of amazing and I did not want to leave. The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong is, without a doubt, one of the best hotels in the world. I will definitely be back soon.
