Health Land is a popular massage chain in Bangkok with several outlets in total, including Asok, Ekamai and Silom. Their scale is impressive, to say the least. Case in point: their Asok branch is an eight-storied building with its own carpark.

While the interior of Health Land is very nicely done up – it feels more like a luxurious spa than a typical massage parlour – prices are very reasonable. You can get a 120-minute traditional Thai massage for THB550/S$22.63. Otherwise, go for the Therapeutic Massage (THB400/S$16.46 per hour).

#3 LEK

Another massage place that we frequent when in Bangkok is Lek, which is on Siam Square Soi 6, opposite Novotel Hotel. But this is also a place where your luck will be put to a test—some therapists are masters, while a handful of them are very rude and we could feel it through their inconsistent strokes that they are plain reluctant and lazy.

Nonetheless, the massage house is still worth a try. They have the Traditional Thai Massage (THB300/S$12.34 per hour), but we highly recommend the Back, Shoulder & Neck Massage with Hot Compress (THB350/S$14.40 per hour). It is very effective, especially if you have knots in those areas.

#4 LEK MASSAGE @ CHATUCHAK WEEKEND MARKET

Do not be confused by the name, for this simple massage place is not part of the franchise in Siam. Those who are looking for fuss-free massage services when they are done shopping at Chatuchak Weekend Market can enjoy their leg massages (THB200/S$8.23 per hour) here.

Despite the humble settings, service here is exceptional. They provide free wifi and also shawls for ladies as customers will be sitting in an air-conditioned space.

#5 LET’S RELAX SPA

Another popular massage chain is Let’s Relax Spa. The branch at Siam Square One is a huge space with both body massage and foot reflexology rooms. Just a tad more expensive—Foot Reflexology (THB 450/S$18.51 per 45 mins), and Traditional Thai Massage (THB600/S$24.69) per hour)—than those regular ones by the street would charge, Let’s Relax Spa is for all who seek a quieter and cleaner environment.

To be most honest, we did not quite enjoy our sessions. But that is because Let’s Relax Spa is truly relaxing, and we happen to be fans of hardcore and strong massages. That said, if you prefer gentle rubs that will send you to slumber, then Let’s Relax Spa is the place for you.

Appointments are strongly recommended. And if you are going for a 2-hour session, your treatment will end with a serving of mango sticky rice!

If Pratunam Market is on your itinerary that day, you have to swing by Maithai Massage too. For only THB200/S$8.23 per hour, you get a decent foot massage in a clean massage place and free use of wifi. For the level of comfort you are getting, we say that is well worth the money!

A traditional Thai Massage there sets you back at THB200/S$8.23 per hour or you can get a Head, Shoulder & Back Massage for the same price as well. Maithai Massage also provides Body Scrub (THB800/S$32.90 per hour) and Facial Massage (THB800/S$32.90 per hour).

Strangely enough, we visit the 7/11 in Bangkok, more often than we would admit. Do you know a delicious pre-made and packed Thai Basil Chicken Rice is only barely S$1 there? And it’s really good too, trust us on that! Everything else from bottled drinks to snack are all generally much cheaper than in Singapore.

#8 COOL CAFES & COFFEE HOUSES IN BANGKOK

Bangkok is also no stranger to the cafe scene with popular destinations such as Karmakamet and its iconic candy floss desserts, and others such as After You and Mr. Jones’ Orphanage, offering affordable and delicious cafe fare.

#9 EVERYWHERE IS EASILY ACCESSIBLE

We like that it is easy to get to anywhere in Bangkok. Not once, were we ever lost. The roads might look messy but all the cab and tuk tuk drivers we’ve had, never had a problem.

Of course we will bump into rude and uncouth people any where in the world, but we are sure that Bangkok has some of the nicest and most polite locals around who will take the time to chat with you, even if they are not proficient in English – something that really warms our heart.

The therapists will take you through their various spa programmes and offerings, you pick your treatments from the extensive menu, and your pampering begins.

Set your mind free, soothe your senses, luxuriate in the holistic treatments and bid your stress and worries goodbye. Luxsa Spa does not come cheap, but it will be money well spent. Its signature Eastern Blend Massage is highly recommended.
