When it comes to finding the right partner, let’s face it – there isn’t a sure-win formula. You can get down on your knees and pray for the right fit every night but they don’t always turn out exactly the way you want, doesn’t it?

But here’s what I know with absolute certainty: Isn’t love all about being happy? I’m unashamed to say that food makes me happy. Happiness comes in a 15” by 15” box of pepperoni pizza with tons of parmesan cheese in it.

Here are 5 reasons why you should be with a partner who loves to eat:

#1 HE/SHE UNDERSTANDS THE EXPRESSION “HANGRY”

“Hangry” simply means feeling hungry AND angry all at the same time. It is an excruciating, exhausting and gut-wrenching kind of emotion that any foodie would experience at least thrice a week. And this awful feeling doesn’t go away until you’ve been fed.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

Look, we’ve all said mean things when we’re angry. And we will probably say even worse things when we’re “hangry”. He/She will understand why you’re feeling grumpy and respect your need for food. When this happens, he/she will google on their phones for the nearest food joint just so he/she can see you smile again.

Here’s a personal advice: If your partner ever asks you why you are so moody when you haven’t had lunch at 3pm, you should run for the hills. He/she clearly doesn’t get you and will never understand how you live to eat. Which brings me to my next point…

#2 HE/SHE WILL NEVER JUDGE YOU WHEN YOU OVER-ORDER

We’ve ALL done it before. When you’re hungry beyond your mind can function, you want every single thing on that damn menu. The result? You over-order. There is a mutual understanding that hunger is a problem that needs to be fixed and we should order a side of truffle fries AND chicken wings just for appetizers. Why? Well, we should never need to choose between two amazing things when you can have both.

#3 HE/SHE UNDERSTANDS THE VALUE OF INDULGENCE

Hawker food is great. I love my chicken rice and Lor Mee but there are days where you just want to indulge on a serving of Australian Angus grain fed filet mignon that would probably cost you a week’s lunch money. But he/she gets it. You both worked hard for your money, why shouldn’t you indulge? He/she understands that while the everyday food court affair is great, nothing beats an amazing date night with you at a fancy restaurant, well because you’re worth it. *winks

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

#4 YOU WILL NEVER RUN OUT OF THINGS TO DO TOGETHER AS A COUPLE

Why do you think almost every social gathering involves food? It is a fact that people bond over food. A foodie is always up for trying new joints and cuisines. Food also tastes better when it is shared. Take it from me, some of the best date conversations I’ve had were shared over (Yep, you guessed it right) pizza and beer.

#5 A FOODIE IS NATURALLY A HAPPIER PERSON

Chocolates consist of chemicals that stimulate channels in the brain to release endorphins. Hence chocolates heighten sensitivity and produce euphoria. (DUH!)

Strawberries are rich in vitamin C that helps in the production of endorphins and aid in absorption. (Yep, okay)

Pasta is a good source of complex carbohydrates, which fill up us while releasing energy slowly. (HELL YEAH!)

It is obvious that people who love to eat are naturally happier than those who count the calories with every meal. There is nothing happier and more satisfying when you’ve both finished an awesome meal together and rubbing each other’s bursting bellies.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: inline-block; width: 336px; height: 280px;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1199323522078805" data-ad-slot="9464314347"></ins>

I’ve been on dates where I’d get told off for ordering a hamburger because it is unhealthy and that truly did not make me happy. I’d go home, lie in bed feeling sad for myself for enjoying that burger and now my date is never going to ask me out again because I am 800 calories fatter than before. And guess what happens next? I progress to stress eating. GIVE ME THE CHOCOLATE! GIVE ME THE CHIPS!

I don’t know about you but take it from a real person; life is really too short to be counting calories as you eat. Food is not the solution to every problem but it fixes everything. (Get it?) The right partner knows that and lets you have your cake and wake you up for a run the next morning. As Julia Child puts it – People who love to eat are the best people.

And I agree completely.
