InterContinental Christmas

For Christmas this year, the theme of the Christmas buffet at Olive Tree is a Spanish Fiesta and the restaurant will be decorated in a striking contrast of colours, together with fun-filled activities that will make you feel as though you are partying in Barcelona.

Some of the dishes that you can look out for are 6-month Aged Jamon Iberico Carving, Chorizo Sausages, Jarrete de Ternera (Bone-in Veal Shank with Onion Pearls and Carrot Marmalade) and Bacalado con Almejas (Cod Fillet with Fresh Manila Clams and Saffron). Our favourite?

There will be an array of Spanish desserts at the festive buffet spread, and the highlight is certainly the churros. The freshly fried and supremely addictively churros that comes with the most decadent orange chocolate dip, served warm no less.

Well if you need your Yule Log Cakes, trust Intercontinental Singapore to be one of the bests in town when it comes to delivering both traditional and creative ones.

Roast Turkey

From succulent roasts, to yule logs, Christmas fruitcakes, as well as festive treats, Executive Chef Eric Neo and his team at Intercontinental Singapore have got it all covered. The Pièce de résistance is Turkey “Panggang” ($135+ for 5kg, which is inspired by Chef Eric’s favourite local dish – Ayam Panggang. Instead of the typical roasted turkey, Intercontinental Singapore’s Turkey Panggang is given a refreshing oriental twist; you can be sure that all your guests will have nothing but praises for it.

Turkey aside, other festive roasts include Rolled Pork Belly Crackling ($120+ for 3kg), Roasted Duckling a l’Orange ($80+ for 2-3kg pre-roasted) as well as the Honey-glazed Pork Ham ($100+ for 2 kg).

Olive Tree Log Cakes

Another noteworthy item is the Heritage Peranakan Log ($70+, 1kg) features a composition of lime-coconut mousse with pineapple-ginger compote layered between willowy soft pandan sponge and pandan kueh lapis. What’s better than having a log cake to celebrate Christmas? Having a marvellous creation that combines the traditional yule log cake with kueh lapis!

Other traditional offerings include the Classic Chocolate Cherry Winter Log (S$65+, 1kg), Buche de Noel Hazelnut Crunch (S$65, 1kg), Mistletoe Pear Helene Sleigh (S$65, 1kg) and the super cute Snow House Nutty Fruit Cake (S$50+, 800g).

For orders and enquiries of the take-home yuletide treats (available from 1 to 25 Dec 2014), please call the Festive Desk at +65 6825 1008, email [email protected] or visit to purchase online.

Jamie's Italian Christmas 2014

This UK classic restaurant should be no stranger to everyone by now. Helmed by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, its first Singapore outpost continues to delight its regulars with a menu that features well-cooked rustic dishes prepared with recipes that Jamie Oliver loves.

From now till 25 Dec 2014, Jamie’s Italian presents its 3-course Christmas Set Menu (S$68++/pax). Start off the meal with a glass of prosecco or mocktail upon arriving at the restaurant. Next up is the signature antipasti plank that is filled with pistachio mortadella, bresaola, hot soppressata, buffalo mozzarella, pecorino cheese, snappy cracker bread, olives, pickles, grilled & marinated vegetables, grissini, homemade focaccia, beetroot-cured salmon on ice with pickled cucumber & crème fraîche. What a feast on its own!

For main course, choose between the Slow-Cooked Duck Leg, 35-Day Aged Angus Sirloin, Sustainable Yellowfin Tuna or Baked Rotolo. Our favourite is the tuna – beautifully seared and served with pretty purple potatoes, this is a refreshing change from our usual yuletide meats.

Jamie's Italian Desserts

And the Dessert Plank is another star too, though we prefer to call it the-best-of-all-worlds plank. It showcases all the popular desserts at Jamie’s Italian – in bite-sized servings of course, so that you have room to sample everything – Epic Brownie, Lemon Meringue Cheesecake, Tiramisu and the much-loved Panna Cotta.

Awestruck. That was the only word that could describe our feelings when we were at Ocean Restaurant by Cat Cora. The marine world is one so fascinating and it feels surreal to be dining at this stunning restaurant that is within the S.E.A Aquarium.

Head by Chef de Cuisine Yew Eng Tong, the team at Ocean has specially whipped up a 6-course Christmas Eve and Day menu that will satisfy every seafood lover with dishes such as Blue Swimmer Crab Risotto and the Gillardeau Oysters that are flown in fresh from France. Other highlights are Marinated Tuna & Beet Seaweed, Puffed Rice & Goma, as well as the 12-Hour Slow Cooked Kurobuta Pork Belly, Cabbage Puree & Mustard. The 4-course set lunch (S$68++/pax) offers superb value, too. Who says dining at the celebrity restaurant would cost you an arm or a leg?

Poulet Christmas

Poulet is a familiar name that we always turn to when we want trusty comfort food without breaking the bank. For Christmas this year, Poulet has introduced a new version of its signature roast chicken – the Poulet Roti is served in a traditional brown sauce with caramelised cinnamon apple (S$17.90++ for half, S$30.90++ for whole). Something different from its usual mushroom cream sauce, something more wholesome for some warmth in December. And you have to order it with the all-time favourite Truffled Mashed Potato (S$5.90).

Forget the iced water or Coke, and quench your thirst with a glass of the ultra refreshing Blood Orange & Minty Cucumber Cooler (S$4.90++). We love the cool tinge of cucumber so much!

French apple & pear tart

The Rustic French Pear & Apple Tart (S$8.90++) stars a scoop of vanilla ice cream sandwiched in between the airily light and crispy puff pasty, with sweet chunks of pear and apple bits generously scattered all around the plate.

Stand a chance to win an 8-day land tour to France for two this Christmas. Simply order the Poulet Roti with caramelised apple sauce, visit to fill up your particulars and include a short write-up (in less than 300 words) on why you want to win this Christmas gift from Poulet.

All Christmas menus (available from 1 to 31 Dec 2014) come with a complimentary glass of Sauvignon Blanc/Pinot Noir/Bubbly.

The Christmas lunch comes with the Butternut Squash that is topped with a lovely porcini emulsion and lumpfish caviar. For main course, choose between the Baked Herb Spiced King Seabream, or Shredded Duck Confit Mushroom Ragout. And what’s not to like about the Instagram-worthy Dark Chocolate Mousse that is made of hazelnut sponge and a shiny milk chocolate glaze?

Book a table at Quayside Fish Bar & Bistro and surprise your date with a romantic Christmas dinner that will satisfy the senses. Both the appetisers – Smoked Rainbow Trout and the Buckwheat Blini with Pan-seared Hokkaido Scallop – will ensure that you start your feast in style.

It is difficult to decide between the Sous Vide Wagyu Ribeye and the Pan-seared Swordfish Steak but you can have the best of both worlds by ordering one each to share. For those who opt for the additional course, there is an amuse bouche of Foie Gras Porcini Truffle. The Deconstructed Christmas Log Cake with a shot of baileys well marks the sweet ending to your Christmas celebrations.
