Just tried Platypus Lobster Shack. Jack and Jill potato chips squirted with a bottle of saturated truffle oil, small chunks of lobster that don’t seem to be fresh as they are heavily doused with strong flavors. One word … overrated!

@James i think you need to read and understand what brad is saying, he IS answering your question. The rolls can be under $30 because it is of a lesser gram compared to say a roll that is priced above $30. Tried p&p a couple of weeks ago and thought it was overrated and over hyped. To each his own.

Lobster roll at Dancing Crab increased to $30 per serving. Just had it last week, I find it so so only.

Taste is subjective
I personally thought Pince was pretty darn average
Fren who came with me had dancing crab the day after and thiught it was way better than pince.
I myself had market grill a few days before pince which I also thiught was way better than pince.

@James Read his reply properly. He was answering your point on WHY they are able to charge less than $30, and justified it by saying it was because the portions are smaller. It is in no relation to your comment about the meat being fresh or frozen.

I would say this post suffered from a misleading title (best but less known…) or a statement up front that states something to the effect of not mentioning P&P (and why). Otherwise its akin to writing an editorial on smartphones without mentioning Apple and the elephant in the room would seem a lot more obvious. Just my opinion.

Actually u got the facts wrong, I wasn’t talking abt the amount of lobster meat but the quality. Frozen vs Fresh. Which is why I said you might have a different taste I.e you are ok with frozen whereas I am not. Why so defensive?

@James In case you are missing the point, the places that charge less than S$30 are able to do so because the lobster roll comes in a smaller portion and we actually stated this differentiation by the amount in grams. Sure, you can get more lobster meat like the ones at Market Grill, Luke’s Chop House or P & P if you are willing to pay a premium. Get your facts right and stop being so cynical.

Hmmm any lobster roll below 30 dollars means probably not live lobsters but frozen. U r saying frozen lobster is better than fresh one from pince n pints, I find this skeptical. But maybe you just have a different taste.

We tried and really love all 5 that is listed, and thought they are the relatively undiscovered gems in Singapore that our readers might want to learn about. You might want to give them a chance too because although they are not as hyped up as P&P, they really are impressive in their own ways.

no pince & pints? could you not get a table in time for this article? Btw, Clifford Pier was one of the worse lobster rolls I’ve had.
