Consider how many outlets Laurent Bernard are actually capable to open in a small country like Singapore, I guess his focus is clearly retail. While their pastries and chocolate are clearly not the best (especially when F&B is tremendously competitive in Singapore), their service is not only non-existent,

But plain old rude, arrogant and horrible. No wonder why their reviews are all.so.consistently.bad.

Actually, I'll take back what I wrote above. I can't even see how they can even be retail-focused when most of their products are not on display. They expect customers to just cruise in and make purchases without even bother to provide information on how the product looks like.

I just went to order a christmas chocolate log cake. Not only did they not have one on display (which is completely fine), no photos are available. When enquired, Laurent Bernard himself, as the BRAND that represents his products / outlets in Singapore, simply shrugged very rudely and arrogantly without saying a word, as if I am wasting his time. That was followed by slamming the glass door at my face (!).

No wonder why this outlet is constantly empty. I guess he is probably just frustrated.

Well, to Laurent Bernard - sincerely wish you a good year ahead, as you guys may truely need it with this kind of service you are providing.

Never go there unless you have a fetish for bad service.

(Follow up - to proof a point, he doesn't just abuse his customers in person, he abuses them on facebook as well)

Absolute worst service I have ever received from a company in Singapore, please do not ever support them or buy from them at all. When I placed my order for a cake, I asked why there was a difference in delivery charge online and at the store, and the staff, desperate for a sale, said they were authorized to charge me at the same price as online delivery. When I called to change the delivery date more than 2 days in advance due to a change of plans, and they delivered the cake wrongly, they requested a one to one exchange on the 2 day old cake. A company that is so calculative and miserly will not do well at all.

The staffs lie to cover their asses, there is miscommunication everywhere, they just do and say what they want to protect themselves, regardless of the direction from the management. I am thoroughly disappointed in Laurent Bernard, this has been a horrible experience and it ruined a birthday celebration.

Don't ever support them ever again.

Today, I went to collect my cake from the taka shop which I have ordered it online. I have put the timing as early as possible so that it will reach early. To my surprise, the cake has not arrived in the shop when we were there in the noon. We waited and waited. The staff told us that it will reach in 10min but it never came. We have to make calls to the top management and they also could not do anything. Not just that, they could not provide alternatives. In the end, we waited for 30min before the driver sent the cake to the shop. The top management gave unreasonable excuses for the mistake such as 'you did not put it as urgent in the email". Hello the fact that I put the date of collection on 7 Feb means I am collecting it on that day why must I put urgent??In the end, our whole itinerary for the day was badly delayed. This shop has a SUPER DUPER BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. It was one of the WORST CAKE SHOP I HAVE BOUGHT FROM.I will never buy it again and I STRONGLY DONT RECOMMEND this shop.

I was at portsdown last weekend having a full fledge brunch with my gf where we had breakfast platter Eggs Benedict's ok but Omelette souffle burnt taste. Cappucino is not bad n highly anticipated chocolate souffle is just ok... but somehow their platter's bread ( Baguette I think) is super NICE. crunchy crust, flavorful soft inside. Must try! the accompany butter with orange tint is pretty interesting too.
I'd definitely be back for their baguette I believe and their other chocolate desserts others are raving about.

I love this place. This is very rare to find such quality products in Singapore. The waiting time for the souffle proves that it is done on the spot and that is what I like at Laurent's cafe.

First glance at the chocolate tart, it brought a smile to my face but the taste was nothing to shout about and the customer service was so hopeless, not to mention how terribly disappointing their signature drinks were. We got charged twice on our orders as well, and in summary, don't patronized this place (esp the Robertson Quay branch) Total letdown.

All that's chocolate! Which means everything on the menu! :p

By the way, have you tried Pave at East Coast Rd? Nice artisan chocolates at a reasonable price. Their brownies are supposedly good too but I always get hooked up on their chocolates, haha!
