Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao Restaurant Singapore

Crystal Jade Xiaolongbao

This is my first visit to Crystal Jade.

Okay please stop staring at me as though I’m a weirdo. When I mentioned on twitter that I have not been to Crystal Jade before, everyone gave me the ‘what-is-wrong-with-you’ reply.

I can understand the reactions, since there are so many different Crystal Jade restaurants in Singapore. From the fine dining Crystal Jade Palace restaurant, to the family-oriented Crystal Jade restaurant, Crystal Jade Korean Ginseng Chicken & BBQ or the causal dining options like Crystal Jade Kitchen and Crystal Jade La Mien Xiao Long Bao – there are options for everyone.

So when I finally stepped into Crystal Jade La Mien Xiao Long Bao at Ngee Ann City, there was a slight tingling sensation in my stomach. ‘Hello Crystal Jade, I’m finally here!’

How to use this Singapore Food Blog

Food Blog

Kindly ignore the above photo, I thought it will be easier to get your attention this way.

It makes me very happy whenever my friends or readers tell me that they are reading through my archives to look for a suitable restaurant for dinner. But the problem is, I think many of you are not doing it the right way.

I regret to say that the search bar in my blog isn’t that powerful. But hey, there’s two brilliant quotes that go like this: ‘I may not be a genius, but I’ll always have Google’ (via monoxious), and ‘Google is your best friend’ (via dweam).

Here’s a step-by-step tutorial on how to find a particular restaurant on my food blog. 1) Go to Google.com 2) type in “ladyironchef xx restaurant” (where xx refers to name of restaurant). Alternatively, there’s a quicker and easier method: click on the INDEX page which is located at the top right hand corner of my food blog. I’m sure many of you are not aware of this page, but it is a list of all the restaurants (categorized from A – Z) that I have blog about.

And for the new readers to my Singapore Food Blog, you can check out the following pages:

If you need some suggestions for a special occasion, feel free to email me at [email protected] or tweet me @ladyironchef (make sure your twitter account isn’t private otherwise I can’t see what you tweet). As I receive a lot of emails everyday, I may not be able to reply them as quickly as I will like to, so do search through my INDEX page first. I hope that you guys have fun planning for the next foodie adventure!

Cafe De Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant Singapore

Roasted Crispy Chicken

When our dear friend Kenny was in Singapore for work recently, we were having a headache where to bring him for dinner — until someone suggested Cafe De Hong Kong at Balestier.

It’s always good to have a friend in town as it provides us with the perfect excuse to pig-out. It’s also a not-so-regular dinner outing for a group of lazy food bloggers.

Safra Bitez Food Trail Singapore

Advertorial
Safra Bitez

The idea of a food trail is very seductive. What’s there not to like when we can just eat, eat, eat, and eat for the whole day? Oh heck, we don’t even need to walk, there’s a chartered bus to bring us to the different places.

Bitez is an all-new SAFRA card and it offers an extensive list of dining privileges that is perfect for the avid food lover.

After I went for the Safra Bitez food trail a while back, I have been recovering from the feast and only got better enough to post it up now. The Safra Bitez Food trail is a 9-hour non-stop eating mission to savour the signature dishes of Bitez’s partners. Wow! That’s all I could say after joining the food trail for half a day.

Best Braised Duck Rice at Lim Seng Lee Eating House

Lim Seng Lee Duck Rice

Duck — Brad’s preferred choice of meat.

That’s the best way to describe my love for duck. While I’m a big fan of kurobuta pork, and there are many people who always rave about the marbling of the wagyu beef; I find it harder to say no to duck meat.

Many friends have told me about the famous braised duck rice at Lim Seng Lee Duck Rice Eating House, which is located right at the end of the winding South Buona Vista road. It’s kind of difficult to remember the name ‘Lim Seng Lee’, so my friends always call it the Pasir Panjang Duck Rice.

Foo House Cafe & Bar: Good Food in East Singapore

Banger and Mash

I always get lost in the East. But sometimes, I think it’s a nice feeling to get lost somewhere and you will feel so much happier when you eventually find the place that you want to go.

We passed by Simpang Bedok while on our way to Foo House Cafe & Bar, and someone said that I’m a suaku (country bumpkin) as I have never been to the area before. Anyway, Foo House Cafe is located at Jalan Pari Burong, Picardy Garden off Upper Changi Road. I’m very sure that I will not go to that area unless we are driving, otherwise I will definitely get lost!

Wanderlust in Shanghai

Wanderlust Shanghai

Sometimes, the best things in life are the ones that you are not expecting.

After spending a bomb during my Sydney holiday in December last year, I didn’t plan for any overseas trip for 2010. But within a short span of a month, I went to Shanghai, Phuket and Hong Kong. Back in August, I joined the Denizen team for a trip to Shanghai for their global launch of the new denim brand.
