The grand dame of cupcakes. I decided to return to the basic after making a batch of nutella cupcakes which turned out to be a disaster. While mixing the batter for the nutella cupcakes, i could feel something amiss, but couldn’t quite make out what was wrong. When the cupcakes finished baking, the whole cake was too wet.

I always remember the commercials by Oreo cookies, they are so simple and effectively. Like the one where the kid and his dad communicate through skype while eating their Oreos, or the one where the glass was too small, and they couldn’t reach the milk at the bottom. The classic one is their slogan, twist, lick and dunk!

Sometimes it is a hassle to cook up a meal, and especially so if you are talking about a three or four course meal. But all of us can’t live without desserts, well at least i can’t. So when i saw this simple and “instant” recipe by Nigella Lawson, i immediately wanted to try it out. There are different variations to char siew, the lean and the fatty one. Personally i felt that char siew cannot be too lean, the portion of fatty to lean meat must be just right. With some bites of fatty meat in between, there’s the melt-in-your-mouth effect!

I always have weakness for crustacean, with the exception of crab. Think lobster, crayfish, and of course prawn. I am a lazy person, so eating crab do seems a hassle for me, but lobsters, ah they are easy to eat and simply out-of-this-world. Crayfish is good too as it provides a cheaper alternative to lobsters, yet they got rather similar taste to their more expensive cousin.

Why? Because she felt that the chicken in Singapore aren’t that healthy, unless she can get Kampong chicken, otherwise no way to curry chicken. The best part about home-cook food is that you can always play to your creativity, add whatever ingredients that you fancy, which obviously is not possible when you dine outside.
