I was pleasantly surprised when i knew that Jia Wei also served Chinese dim sum, so my companion and i couldn’t stop helping ourselves to some dim sum even though we were full having the oriental Christmas feast. A quick glance at their dim sum menu shows that almost all of them are priced at $4 per basket, a very reasonable price for a good Chinese restaurant.

They have been away for a long time now; the feel, touch, sight, smell were always in their mind, but its gradually fading away with each day passed. How they wished they could be back, but reality often gets the better of man. He missed the food, while she yearned for the familiar environment.

While co-owner and partner Mac excel in decorating the desserts, June enjoyed researching the use of new flavours instead. Perhaps it is the unique combination and strength in the partnership that gave Obolo Patisserie its success. ladyironchef decided to organise a dessert outing there and it went on smoothly with the support that the partners provided.

There are so many different types of desserts out there, so what’s your favourite? Chocolate cakes? Gourmet cheesecakes? Everybody has their own preference, i’ll say i love any types of desserts, and will willingly try all of them. The thing that i enjoyed about the pastry is that they ain’t just pretty to look at, they are also delightfully good.

Noodles and rice are the staple in our Asian context, while the Caucasians live on their bread, try telling the older generation that there isn’t rice for dinner and you’ll get the answer from their reactions. There are many different kinds of noodles; the Japanese ramen, soba and udon are especially popular. And then there’s the Korean noodles, and of course, our Chinese noodles.

And among our Chinese noodles, there are many types with wheat flour based ones like lamien, vermicelli, and the thick noodles. For their egg base counterparts, there are the thin noodles (you mian), and the mee pok which are commonly found. How about bamboo noodles?

If you have been following through LIC, you will know that i never fancy buffet, because the greedy me will want to eat as much as possible to satisfy the price, and you need to fork out big money for quality buffet, think The line at Shangri-la, Wasabi bistro, Melt the world cafe.

Having said that, as my family wanted a weekend dinner buffet without being too heavy on the pocket, i did some research online, and decided on Feast @ East the buffet restaurant. Nothing mind-blowing, just the rather reasonable bill for a weekend dinner buffet, which can otherwise be very expensive.

07/07/07 a special day which occurs once a century. On this special day, we went to Seafood Station at East Coast Siglap to celebrate (celebrate is a excuse, just want to find a reason to go out spend money to boost our Singapore economy) Wanted to try different place for crabs because everytime go NoSignBoard and Jumbo , mom saw this advertisement on newspaper on Seafood Station so we went there to have a try. Met Aunty Geraldine downstairs so we sit her car go together.

Seafood Station, okay lets go straight to the point, the food is rather good but i wont go back again. Why? Poor service, price rather expensive relative to its small servings. But the main reason is the poor service which makes me think twice about going back. Anyway, when we reach the place at 730pm, the inside was full so we had to make do with the outer area. I did make a reservation prior going, but it was for 3 person, aunty geraldine family join us last min. The outside area had a lot insects flying around, so we was saying even if the insect drop into our food we also won’t know. O well, we saw a lot celebrity photos with the boss, so we thought the place must be quite good, but the dinner end up in a way we did not expect. Clearly fame does not shows anything.

Pepper crab was suppose to be Seafood Station Signature dish, but to our disappointment, the crab here was totally in a different league as compared to NoSignBoard or Jumbo, nowhere the standards to the other two. The meat was not firm, when we complain to the manager, he did show his goodwill by compensating us with abalone (the relative cousin not the real one) Any guesses how much this crab cost? A whooping $98! They claimed the crab was 2.8kg, but seriously there are only two crab, and we felt then that the crab was quite small and here they are telling us the crab was big? Come on man. For anyone who will like to try the true-blue singapore pepper crab, just go to NoSignBoard or Jumbo. Service rating

People always thought that the best meals are having good food accompanied with good wines. But i came to realise its not just that, the most important ingredient for the perfect meal is simply having good company. Food in the company of good friends can be good food, regardless how cheap or expensive it is.

Visit to Aston with my good friends, wee hong, hong yi, sherman. Food turns out to be good (and cheap). Reach Aston at 730pm, and it has a long Q already, did not make prior reservations as they do not take any. Waiting time for us was about 35mins to get to the counter to make our order, the food came shortly after that. The main problem i noticed about Aston is that they only have one counter for diners to make the orders, so for those in large groups, they usually take quite a long time in deciding and making the orders, when we went in, there was plenty of seats available and they were able to serve the food fast, thus i feel that they should increase the number of counters to speed up the waiting process.

The main course have a wide variety of selections, for chicken there is chargill, black pepper, cripsy fried, hickory bbq, teriyaki, lemon lime,  double up, chicken & sausage combo. For steaks there are prime sirloin, black pepper steak, prime ribeye, prime tenderloin, and pork chops, ribs, lamp loin chops. There are also fish dishes, and pasta.

Every main course comes with 2 sides, which includes hot sides; baked potato, french fries, seasonal veggie, onion ring, bbq beans, tasty rice, corn on the cob, mashed potato, and cold sides; potato salad, coleslaw, pasta salad, house salad.
