Toriki – New Yakitori Restaurant At JCUBE That Serves Yakitori & Craft Beers

Toriki Group Shot

If you love Japanese yakitori and craft beer, then Toriki is a joint you should definitely check out.

Situated on the 4th level of JCube, overlooking Singapore’s only Olympic ice rink, diners can look forward to authentic Japanese eats like assorted donburi and classic old school yakitori grilled over a special binchotan charcoal.

Toriki is a affordable yakitori restaurant that even the Japanese palette will agree with and we are sure yours will too. With no GST & service charges, it just makes dining here even better.

Toriki Interior

Toriki exudes an industrial theme with a good balance of modern and minimalistic decor—not overly pretentious just the way we like it.

Toriki Craft Beer Menu

We were indeed very impressed at how massive their range of alcoholic beverages was. Be spoiled for choice with their wide selection of craft beers originating from Australia to Japan, rare sakes and house-crafted cocktails that feature a Japanese twist—such as their Matcha Whiskey cocktail.

The founders of Toriki lived abroad in Japan for many years and decided to bring what they love, back to Singapore. Their yakitori is grilled in a classic traditional method that uses a special Japanese Binchotan charcoal.

Binchotan is a type of white Japanese charcoal that is regarded as the best quality charcoal around. It is a very pure high carbon charcoal made from oak. Unlike lump charcoal and briquettes, because of the high carbon content, it is completely odourless—enabling you to enjoy the natural flavours of the food.

Toriki Yakitori Don 2

One does not simply come to a yakitori joint without ordering yakitori hence, we got just that—the Yakitori Don (S$9.90) to be exact. This lunch item comprises 4 different skewers—chicken thighs with leek, chicken breast, chicken liver and chicken heart, all served a Japanese short grain rice.

The meat was tender and the sweet sauce really helped bring the dish to life. We particularly fancied the charred edges that carried a subtle smokiness from the charcoal. All in all, a satisfying lunch and a solid accompaniment to an ice-cold pint.

For those who are not too keen on innards, you can always choose to swap them out for additional skewers of chicken meat instead.

Toriki Chirashi Don

Their Bara Chirashi Don (S$17.90) features 4 different types of fish—salmon, tuna, swordfish and ikura. We liked that the ingredients were fresh and flavourful. And while it may not be the best Chirashi Don in Singapore, it is a pretty decent rendition.

Overall, we liked the cosy vibe at this hidden gem and being huge fans of craft beer and quirky cocktails, we can safely say that we will most definitely be returning to try them all.
