Hello Hokkaido! At Resorts World Sentosa – Here’s What To Expect From This Hokkaido Festival

Hello Hokkaido!

Hokkaido is one of the most popular Japanese destinations known for its agricultural produce and local delicacies. While it may be a popular holiday destination, some of us may not have the time and money to visit.

But here is your chance to experience Hokkaido from 18 to 27 November 2016, 11am to 10pm.

Think exquisite Hokkaido street food, an expansive array of premium sake and wine, exciting travel packages to Hokkaido for some winter fun and splendid creations at celebrity restaurants.

The 10-day Hello Hokkaido! festival held at Resorts World Sentosa will be bringing only the best of Hokkaido culture all the way to Singapore! Admission to Hello Hokkaido! is free and you can purchase your credits in advance here (from now until 17 November 2016).

Event credits can be purchased on-site from 18 November at a min. of S$20 with a min. top up of S$1 thereafter.

HOKKAIDO RAMEN SANTOUKA

GOURMET YATAI STALLS

A Japanese yatai street will be showcasing over 20 food and retail stalls where you can have your fill of Hokkaido Santouka Ramen, Wagyu Roast Don from Hokkaido Izakaya and Ohara Farm’s melon-flavoured soft ice cream (our soft spot!).

An exciting news for crab lovers—you get to choose between different varieties such as Blue King Crab, Snow Crab, King Crab and other Hokkaido specialities at the Crab Bash at the festival. Yes, we know! We are equally stoked!

Where else can you find the best produce from Hokkaido than at Hello Hokkaido! itself? Shop away at the retail stalls, featuring seafood produce flown directly from the fishery town of Esashi. Soup Curry Okushiba Syoten will be serving its shrimp soup curry ramen—a dish which is unique to Hokkaido.

Ladies may like to take note that there will be cosmetic products using natural ingredients from Hokkaido on sale at the festival too. Also, keep a lookout for handcrafts from Hokkaido as well.

Hokkaido Kitanohomare sake

AWARD WINNING SPIRITS AT SAKE BAR

It is no secret that the Japanese love their sake and you have to try their award-winning brews to understand why.

The sake bar at Hello Hokkaido! will be offering sake from four world-class breweries—Kitano-Homare, Hakodate Wine, Grande Polaire and Nippon Seishu, which happens to be the pioneer of sake production in Hokkaido.

Nippon Seishu will be offering 5 types of sake, while Kitano-Homare brewery will be showcasing 4 types of sake at the festival.

There is also a Sake Social Event (19 & 26 November 2016, 3 to 6pm) where a sake sommelier will share more about the Hokkaido sake breweries. He will also give his tips on how to pair sake with food bought from the yatai stalls.

RWS Restaurants

CREATIVE MENUS AT CELEBRITY RESTAURANTS IN RESORTS WORLD SENTOSA

Nine celebrity chef restaurants will be presenting menus with the most sought after seafood ingredients imported directly from Hokkaido; think uni (sea urchin), kani (crab), hotate (scallop), and ikura (salmon roe).

Have the Hokkaido Alaska Crab Steamed in Chinese Wine with Egg White and Vermicelli at one Michelin starred Forest. Prefer snow crabs instead? Go for the Zuwai kani shabu shabu at Syun, managed by Kobe-born chef Hal Yamashita.

Otherwise, you have other options such as Snow Crab Cannelloni at Ocean Restaurant by Cat Cora and Homemade Tagliolini with Blue King Crab in Light Tomato Cream Sauce, Orange Crumble and Chili Oil Pearls at Fratelli.

All these special creations are available from 18 to 27 November 2016 as an a la carte item starting from S$22++ or part of specially curated set menus with prices from S$68++ per person.

Niya

GOOD VIBES ONLY AT HELLO HOKKAIDO! 

This is one multi-sensory festival that aims to please more than just your tastebuds.

From 18 to 20 November 2016, be entertained by musical acts from female pop singer Ayano Mashiro and five-member girl group Milcs Honmono.

Those who prefer classical tunes should head down to the fair from 25 to 27 November 2016, as Niya—a champion shamisen (traditional Japanese lute) player—will be performing on stage. It feels almost as if you were on the actual streets of Hokkaido.
