Imperial Treasure Roast Meat

This is my FIRST TIME to Imperial Treasure Restaurant.

Before you react, I thought it’s wise for me to confess that I have never been to Crystal Jade Restaurant too. Even though I have included both restaurants into my list of Dim Sum Restaurants in Singapore, I have never really see them as a destination place for dim sum.

Both Crystal Jade and Imperial Treasure group of restaurants have numerous Chinese restaurants in Singapore. I was quite confused by the different names like Imperial Treasure Nan Bei, Imperial Treasure Cantonese, Imperial Treasure Teochew, Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck at Paragon, Imperial Treasure La Mian Xiao Long Bao, and Imperial Treasure Noodle and Congee House. Obviously, I know it refers to the different cuisine of Imperial Treasure, but what I really want to know is: which is the best Imperial Treasure restaurant?

Among the Ion Orchard Restaurants, I have only been to Watami Singapore and Taste Paradise. So for my first trip to Imperial Treasure, I decided to keep it simple and check out the dim sum at Imperial Treasure Noodle and Congee House Ion Orchard.

For the BBQ Platter ($16.0), we get to choose two out of three between roast pork, roast duck, or char siew. Beneath the crispy roast pork skin, there’s a good balance of fat and lean meat. Definitely not the best roast pork, but it will do for now. On the other hand, we thoroughly enjoyed the roast duck which was juicy, and meaty.

Imperial Treasure Dim Sum

The Steamed Prawn Dumplings or Har Gau ($4.40 for 4) were exceptionally ordinary, and it was the same goes for the Deep Fried Prawn dumpling ($4.20 for 3).

The real star was the Baked Egg Tart ($3 for 3). Fresh out from the oven, the petite dim sum was warm and crispy. The bouncy egg custard spearheaded the charge toward the command center of my taste bud, and I had two of it to myself!

Custard Bun

It’s inevitable that we tend to compare things with what we had before. After having the best Custard bun from Taste Paradise, I know my life will never be the same again. To be fair, Imperial Treasure did a pretty good rendition of the Steamed Custard Bun ($3.60 for 3), but the good memories of the custard buns that I had from Taste Paradise, meant that everything else can only be second best.

Char Siew Sou

If you have been reading my food blog for some time, you’d know that I am a super duper big fan of Char Siew Sou or the BBQ Pork Pastry. ($3.30 for 3). Within the crispy pastry flakes were the searing-hot BBQ char siew fillings. Imperial Treasure’s Char Siew Sou may not be perfect like the ones from Yan Ting Restaurant or Taste Paradise, but at $1.10 each, it is definitely cheaper and a value-for-money option when you are craving for char siew sou.

Between Imperial Treasure Restaurant and Crystal Jade restaurant, which one do you prefer?

You gotta go back again and try their duck! Paired with the plum sauce, it’s the best item on the menu, if I may add! I have it every single time I visit Imperial Treasure!
Crystal Jade’s duck comes really close too. Please try both! :)

I wanted to go there for dim sun the last time when I was at Ion but wasn’t able to get any seats. Didn’t know they’re so popular. lol.
The Cathay Restaurant serves really good custard bun too, which I feel in my humble opinion, was even BETTER than taste paradise! ;)

Just to add on, Cathay Restaurant has 30% off dim sum items on weekdays. Other dim sums that I tried were average. Just go for custard bun will do. haha

If I’m not wrong Mouth@Work comes under Mouth Restaurant Group. I can’t comment much as I only tried the 2 items on my previous visit. IMHO they are well executed and leave me craving for more =p

If your a fan od Dim Sum then you might really wanna try out Imperial Treasure Nan Bei @ Takashimaya…same floor as Best Denki if i’m not mistaken. They would offer your 4 different Dim Sum menus, excluding their own ala carte ‘non-dim sum’ menu. Haha…if your into food you can also check out my facebook cos got quite a number of food pics and albums

Shaine: I just walked past it that day, it seems that they serve all day dim sum? will be back to check it out!

Angeline: it’s a fight between taste paradise and peach garden for the best custard bun in Singapore. but the problem is the other dim sum at Peach garden is really mediocre. Will go to mouth @ Work for dim sum soon!

AL: OH! i didn’t know that Imperial Treasure Nan Bei has dim sum too! the next time i am craving for dim sum and i happen to be at takashimaya, i will know where to go

Does anyone know if the outlet at Taka has specific timings for dim sum? I read other blogs and some say they went after 5 and things were still available?
