Coffee Club Singapore: Mud Pie Dessert

Coffee Club Mudpie

To be honest, I never like Cafe Chains like TCC (the coffee connoisseur) and Coffee Club. Yes, they are very accessible with so many cafe outlets in Singapore, but that’s exactly the problem. It’s just too convenient and everybody goes there. I was quite skeptical when my friend asked me to try Coffee Club’s Muddy Mudpie, but after seeing it on the table beside us, I reckoned it’s time to stop the fruitless resistance.

I know it’s been said about many things, but my dear reader, this is the dessert that will make you go ‘aww..’

The Muddy Mud Pie ($9.50) may not have the nicest name, nor is it photogenic – but the sheer size of it would simply blow you away. We didn’t know where to start. After a second which felt like an eternity – there was no more fear, no uncertainly.

Lets dig in!

The drizzling chocolate fudge was somewhat like the morning dew; sweet, pure, and blissful. The cappuccino and chocolate ice cream were positioned nicely on top of an oreo base which reminded me of the cheesecake crust.

Together with the chocolate fudge and oreo base, the ice cream melted on the tongue, and evoked a strange yet familiar, tickling sensation. Tiny bottles of happiness were released with each lick of the spoon – it tastes like Christmas.

Fine. Maybe I did exaggerate. But the gigantic mudpie did overwhelmed us initially. For a moment, it was unsure if we could even finish the whole thing. The Muddy Mud Pie is not extraordinary, but it’s definitely better than good.

The Coffee Club’s Mud Pie is a dessert for all occasions – perfect with coffee/yea for an afternoon high tea, a happily-ever-after ending to a fairytale-like dinner, or just something to satisfy the sweet tooth in you.

* * *

To be fair, I have only glimpse through Coffee Club’s menu for their drinks. Coffee and desserts yes, but probably not their savory menu. With 25 locations around Singapore, Coffee Club is probably one of the dessert places in Singapore that most people has been to.

Here’s the question: do you prefer TCC (the coffee connoisseur) or Coffee Club?

TCC all the way! They serve Singapore’s best molten chocolate cake according to Kia – and she’s tried 15+ different places.

I’m a huge Coffee Club fan. Their home is here in Brisbane, Australia – my home town. Brisbane has a special place in its heart for Coffee, with most of Australia’s popular coffee chains and roasteries starting here. Coffee Club is great and their slogan over there sums it up “Where will I meet you?”. Whenever we think about catching up with friends over there, “where will I meet you?” is synonymous with “coffee club!”

Yea Coffee Club’s mud pie is indeed something to die for. Guessed the overwhelming part was when the cake made its “big” impression on us the minute it landed on our table..lol I once shared it with a group of 5 to 6 after a full meal and we KO-ed trying to finish it.

Btw hv you tried Death by Chocolate Cake from Riders Cafe? another highly satisfying and sinful indulgence..=p

dan: wow slogans really play a part in influencing people’s choice don’t they? So whenever you guys think where to meet, you immediately go to Coffee club? cool!

irony: YES YES! it made a super big impact, even if u are not ordering it, just looking at the next table is very tempting! Funny you should mention Death by chocolate cake from riders cafe, a friend was just raving about it today! I MUST have it the next time i go to riders cafe

I prefer neither. There are better options out there. Coffee Club and TCC are under the same management by the way. Not many people know this.

To Dan Rose: Coffee Club in Aus (where I’ve recently moved to) and Coffee Club in Sg are not the same company. Yes they may share the same name but are nowhere related to each other.

How do I know all this? I used to work for Coffee Club Sg.
