Breakfast at Epicurious Cafe, Singapore

Baked Eggs Breakfast

I know it seems like I am always scheming and teasing to get you hungry, but trust me: everything that I do is for your own good. Today is Sunday. And as my favorite saying goes: Sunday is made for brunch.

If you are still looking for a place, take a look at my list of brunch places in Singapore. But if you ask me directly, I’d highly recommend you to check out Epicurious Cafe, which is voted Best Breakfast in Singapore by Time Out Singapore.

Epicurious Cafe has always been well known for their weekend brunch. It’s almost impossible to get a table without waiting if you reach after twelve noon, and here’s the good news – Epicurious has recently opened a new branch at Railmall. And the best part? The breakfast menu at railmall is exactly the same as the one at Robertson Quay.

Sharon the co-owner of Epicurious Cafe recommended me to go for the Baked Eggs with Toast Soldiers ($6.50 for 1) and I agreed that it’s absolutely divine! Eggs and bacons are the best couple in this world. The latter always makes eggs become so much better!

When the trio of eggs, bacon, and cheese are baked together, there’s only a word to describe everything – magic! I believe that the Baked eggs are more than capable of defending Epicurious Cafe title of Best Breakfast in Singapore.

Epicurious Omelette

Having tried the Eggs Benedict on my previous visit, I decided to go for the Ratatouille Omelette ($12). Tomatoes and eggplant added color and contrasting texture to the smooth and silky egg. If I may add, the side potatoes were really tasty, and I like the combination of the slightly sourish fillings with the omelette.

Best Pancakes Singapore

Where’s the best pancakes in Singapore?

I get this question very often, and the first thing that comes to my mind will be the Pancakes ($7 for 3) at Epicurious. I can’t say if this is the best pancakes in Singapore, but one thing’s for sure, the pancakes here are definitely one of the most value-for-money.

Breakfast is all about eggs and pancakes.

Apple Crumble

For desserts, we had the Apple Crumble and a slice of carrot cake. The apple tart was lovely. Warm and soft and tart, it had a very appley flavor, with a scoop of cold ice cream – this was the perfect fairytale ending to our wholesome breakfast.

* * *

In my opinion, Epicurious Cafe is still one of the best brunch places in Singapore. If you are one of those who have problems waking up early for breakfast and never seem to be able to get a table at Epicurious Robertson Quay; dude, it’s time to go to the Rail Mall branch.

The same good old breakfast – now available in the West.

I make the best pancakes! HAHA. Nah just joking. I have been meaning to try out this place too. Oh, and if you are around the area, can drop by Book Cafe to chill-lax with a book and a mocha. It’s not too bad…

I just had brunch at epicurious today! Crowded as always. Totally agree that the side potatoes are delicious! And I will love to try out the Ratatouille Omelette next time round. :) Oh does the baked eggs have strong cheesy taste? Cause I don’t really like cheese. :P

You’re right about the “scheming and teasing to get you hungry” part. I’ve never seen a more cruel post in my life. I’m dying here. Do you understand? DYING.

J and I had a great time there two weekends ago!

We went a bit late, 12.30 thereabouts and while I ordered from the brunch menu, he ordered from the lunch one. And I tell you – the burger is FANTASTIC! Must try!

I visited the outlet at Rail Mall just this morning (Sunday, 11.45am thereabouts) and it was e worst dining experience i ever had, sad to say. The food took more than half an hour to arrive, service was shabby (they were severely understaffed, the waiters were nonchalant and obviously untrained) and above all, the food was bad. (1)The green eggs with ham was too salty, soggy and overcooked (2) the sweet, sour and spicy pasta with half a crayfish was terribly fishy and it wasn’t hot when it arrived (3) the salmon and brie sandwich came with pale and tired looking salmon. It looked at though the sandwiches were assembled by a 10 year old. In addition, the decor of the place left much to be desired: Used tissues, table wiping cloths, disinfecting cleaning bottles were left on the bar counter for all to see. The good thing about this place is probably that iced water was free. But oh, it comes in used vodka / wine glass bottles (kudos to recycling) with the price tag still on, if you’d like to know. To be honest, I will never visit this place ever again. Waiting 30 min for lousy (and not to mention, overpriced) food is just not my cup of tea. (We headed for Ah Mei kopitiam down the road for hot, proper food after that). Looking at neighbouring tables of customers who were all asking about their orders and looking none too pleased, it looked like my family and I weren’t not the only ones feeling the same way about Epicurious. Voted best breakfast by TimeOut magazine, really? They got to be kidding big time.

I went to the one at Robertson Quay today after reading the fantastic review and I’m sorry to say that this my worst dining experience ever…
The food is average and the service is appalling.

Hi ladyiron chef, thought it would be great if you can feedback this to the co-owner if you know her.

Their recent reviews in HGW has been quite bad too.
