The City Kid (Part 6): The land of memories

May 27, 2009 | 2 Comments

I remember this place where my mother likes to drag me to when I’m young; and you, for your annual Chinese new year shopping. The streets are long and crowded, we slipped and blended in with the surroundings.

I wandered around, in search of an answer. Yes, definitely, possibility, probably, hopefully maybe. There are times I wondered…

Two faces. You are like the cactus; cold, sharp, unreachable. I know it will hurt. I know it will be pain. Yet, I want, to get near to you. I want to know you. And there are times where you are warm like the sun. Your radiating lovely smile, it is contagiously; happiness flowed from you through me.

Standing there under the shadows of the setting sun, we seemed like fools to others; but they would never understand. It was silly, but a whole lot of fun. I engraved this moment, deeply into my heart.

I may already know where this journey may end. Am I sure of what I’m doing? Oh yes, I want to try, have my best shot, and then I can gladly say that I have no regrets. If being nice to you is a crime, then I, surely, will be the biggest sinner in this world. I just want to be nice, unconditionally.

The next time I come back, I’ll think of the memories we had, the time we spent; wandering around. But no matter what happened in the end, I’m happy to have all the memories: stuff that life is make of. The sorrow of the weeping bird, the promises that never fulfill, the lament of the broken amends, the reminiscence of the happy moments, the awakening from the fairytale dream; the truth, the painful truth. And the end, of the end.

Memories are capricious creatures, we make of them what we will. But the sweetest days we keep in an inner photo album, to peruse as we will in sunny days and stormy alike.

Wonderful atmosphere, this piece, mate. :)

LFB: My memory seem to be failing me, moments fading away faster than I thought, but yes; I got them all captured, tuck somewhere deep inside, to re-live again, with some of the comforts: green tea latte, risotto & matcha dessert.
